"Ellen White today signed for Leeds United Ladies from Chelsea Ladies, to become Leeds’s second summer signing after Carla Cantrell put pen to paper last week.

England Under 19 striker Ellen has consistently scored goals for both club and country including a hat-trick against Poland in an Under 19s UEFA European qualifier in April this year as well as being top scorer for Chelsea Ladies for the past three seasons.

Ellen has represented England at U17s,19s, 20s and more recently Under 23 level where Ellen could well form a prolific strike force for both club and country with Leeds other new signing Carla Cantrell.

Ellen enthused about signing for Leeds “I am really pleased to be joining a young talented team in Leeds United Ladies. I feel extremely lucky to know many of the players through England Under 19s/20s and also those who attend the FA Women’s Player Development Centre.

"I thoroughly enjoyed my three seasons at Chelsea Ladies, which has significantly improved my development as a player both at Club and International level. I will be disappointed to be leaving the many friends I have made there; however after much consideration; I feel it is now the right time to make the move to a new Club.

"Naturally as all players do, I have ambitions and want to win things and over the past two seasons Leeds United Ladies have demonstrated that they have made great strides into starting to make a challenge on the dominance in female football that Arsenal and Everton have held for a number of years. I want to be part of team that win the National Premier League title and play in Cup Finals and firmly believe these opportunities will come along for me soon playing for Leeds. Their focus is on continual improvement and not accepting second best, whilst enjoying playing great entertaining football as a team.

"I hope that I will be able to play some key part in Leeds ongoing transformation and help by doing what I enjoy, scoring goals and being part of a great team into the future. It’s a really important year for me in terms of International football where I am hoping to be selected in the squads for the U19’s UEFA European Finals in France in July and the U20’s World Cup in Chile. I feel Leeds have a great understanding of young players needs when balancing Club and International commitments with educational studies and regeneration."

Leeds United Ladies Manager Rick Passmoor added “I am delighted to have brought Ellen to the club for the forthcoming season, it was no secret that we needed to strengthen our forward line, as we were so short on numbers in that area last season. I believe we have now signed two of the most talented young strikers in the country in Ellen and Carla. Not only was I impressed last season with Ellen's ability, but also when you witness her desire and motivation you know that you are bringing a player of quality to the club. Ellen's pedigree is there for all to see, Arsenal school of excellence, Chelsea, England U19s and now we can work together to bring silverware to the club.”

“Rick has said he wanted to strengthen our strike force, as he felt that we would have won more games if we had a stronger squad in that area," said Chairperson Melanie Vauvelle-Don. "Injuries and players unavailable meant that in a some league games we played without any recognised striker. Ellen is another great signing for the club, another player with a fantastic attitude where her development is so important to her.

"In Leeds she is joining a club which is very ambitious look to develop players, understand the importance of a good education, run the club as professionally as possible and want to win trophies.We are making big strides off the field to ensure that happens."
