Kamp 5/9:

BULLS BATTLE BACK TO CLAIM POINT

Hereford fought back from a goal down to claim a 1-1 draw in their League One battle with Swindon Town at Edgar Street on Friday night.
Central defender Jerel Ifil put the Robins in front in the 45th minute when he lashed the ball into the net off the underside of the crossbar.
But Hereford hit back to level in the 68th minute when a free-kick from Kris Taylor rebounded off the post to Bradley Hudson-Odoi, who swept the ball past goalkeeper Phil Smith for the equaliser.
In the first half, both Hereford and Swindon failed to find the target in the early stages when Andy Williams and Hudson-Odoi both shot wide of the Swindon upright.
But Swindon struck on the stroke of half-time when Ifil lashed home the first goal after Michael Timlin also struck the crossbar.
Hereford eventually equalised when Taylor's shot rebounded off the post to Hudson-Odoi who met it from 12-yards.

Leeds expect Paul Telfer to be fit for Saturday's game against Swindon Town after the defender finished their 5-2 victory over Crewe Alexandra with a minor groin complaint. Boss Gary McAllister said: "Towards the end he felt a bit of tug on his groin, but he should be fine." (YEP)

Corr sets sights on Leeds place

Swindon striker Barry Corr knows a good display for the reserves on Tuesday could land him a place in the squad to face Leeds this weekend.
Corr is yet to feature for the Robins this season having struggled with a shoulder injury, but after impressing for the reserves against Charlton last week he knows another impressive performance against Yeovil could propel him into Maurice Malpas' plans.
And he would love nothing more than a return against the club he joined at the age of 16.
"All I can do is go out there and get another game under my belt. If I can do well on Tuesday night then who knows what might happen at the weekend against Leeds. I would love to be involved against them but that's up to the manager," Corr told the club's official website.
"I really enjoyed my time at Leeds, I was there when they got into the quarter-finals of the Champions League when the likes of Alan Smith, Mark Viduka and Paul Robinson were there.
"It was a great time to be with them and I have some really good memories of Elland Road. Unfortunately I didn't get to play in the first-team so moved on to Sheffield Wednesday."

Tykkjer laget ditt ser sannsynleg ut, men mogleg Marques startar i staden for Hunty. Eg var litt feig og tippa på 1-1. Redd for å bli skuffa :(

Robins bullish about home form

Barry Corr

Swindon Town striker Barry Corr insists Leeds United will require a faultless performance to get the better of the Robins at the County Ground on Saturday.
The ex-Leeds trainee is hoping to turn out against his former club this weekend after recovering from a shoulder injury, and he expects Swindon's confidence at home to come to the fore again during a fixture which he admits will be the most high-profile of the season at the County Ground.

Macca: Time to dig in

It’s back to the grindstone for Leeds United after their five-goal romp against Crewe at Elland Road last Saturday.
Manager Gary McAllister and left back Alan Sheehan agree it could be a case of having to grind out a result on Saturday at Swindon, who pride themselves on being hard to beat at home.
McAllister said: “As much as it was very pleasing to the eye against Crewe, we’ve got to have the ability to dig in and roll our sleeves up if that’s what it takes. It’ll be a demanding game at Swindon like it was last season.
“The pitch should be a bit better than the last time we played there. It was a bit ropey and unfortunately we lost a player in the warm-up (on loan Stephen O’Haloran) but we are looking forward to going back to the place where I got my first victory as Leeds manager and we go there in confident mood.”
United return to the West Country looking to go one better than their 1-1 draw at Yeovil.
Irishman Sheehan, who scored one of the goals against Crewe on his return to the side after injury, said: “Things are starting to look good and we are gelling as a team but we will have to grind out a few wins away from home like we did towards the end of last season.”
United are without central defender Lubo Michalik, who serves a one-match ban for his sending-off against Crewe, so McAllister is likely to bring back Rui Marques.
Enoch Showunmi faces a battle for a place on the bench and, despite Andy Robinson’s sparkling display after coming on against Crewe, the winger may again be among the substitutes.
“I am a big fan of Andy. He has to show a wee bit of patience at the moment but he can affect games,” said McAllister.

Swindon Trivia

http://www.swindonweb.com/index.asp?m=8&s=115&ss=289&t=THE+MAGIC+ROUNDABOUT

Swindon er også opprinnelsen til et av tidenes beste britiske popband XTC - og en av de sporadiske posterne her på OEF ryktes å ha vært Swindonsupporter av den grunn....
So-called Leedsfans, so-called Leedsfans, so-called Leedsfans - We are here....

I den rundkjøringen hadde jeg slitt ganske så kraftig. Håper ikke leedsbussen kjører rundt og rundt og rundt og rundt før kamp....  :o

Robins boss Maurice Malpas told BBC Radio Swindon:
"I get annoyed when people say this is a big game, it's disrespectful to other teams.
"If this is more important to a player then I'm doing something wrong, or they're doing something wrong, for the rest of the games.
"Leeds have got a great tradition, fine, but they've got 11 players wearing a white jersey and we've got 11 players wearing a red jersey. I hope my 11 are better than the other team."

Mac sets high benchmark for United

Andy Robinson will be asked to show patience at Swindon Town tomorrow with Gary McAllister poised to keep faith with the architects of Leeds United's crushing victory over Crewe Alexandra.
Robinson produced a delightful performance as a substitute during last week's 5-2 victory at Elland Road, creating one goal, scoring another and lashing a shot against the crossbar.
But McAllister is unlikely to reward him with a starting place at the County Ground this weekend.
The Leeds boss must make one change with defender Lubomir Michalik serving a one-match ban, but the remaining 10 players look set to retain their places in Wiltshire.
Robinson was the only other potential alteration after his most convincing display since joining Leeds from Swansea, but McAllister's belief in his present strategy is so strong that returning striker Enoch Showunmi â€" fit again after a back strain â€" is not certain of a place on the bench.
"I've got a fantastic mix of players and a blend of everything," McAllister said. "It's also rare to be able to say I've got 20 players who are all fit, touch wood. I want it to remain like that.
"People who aren't in the starting team are still going to have a big part to play. I'm a big fan of Andy, because he can affect games, but he's going to have to show a wee bit of patience at the moment.
"Enoch's back and looking sharp but he's got a job on his hands to get on the bench."
The loss of Michalik, though only for one match, is a disappointment for McAllister after a convincing display from his defence last weekend.
Barring the final moments of injury-time, when Leeds conspired to concede two goals to Crewe, United's backline eased through the League One fixture and looked devoid of the lapses which had proved expensive against Oldham Athletic, Yeovil Town and Bristol Rovers.
McAllister will select either Rui Marques or Paul Huntington as Michalik's replacement, and admitted his choice had already been made.
"The two of them give us something a bit different," McAllister said. "Rui's probably more physical than Paul, who's more of an elegant player and more comfortable on the ball.
"But the be-all and end-all when you play in that area of the pitch is being able to stop the opposition from scoring, and first and foremost they've got to be good defenders."
McAllister's first victory as United boss came at the County Ground in March, a 1-0 win which arrived at the end of a tight and gritty fixture.
Swindon â€" managed by McAllister's old Scotland team-mate Maurice Malpas â€" have been inconsistent to date and the United boss admitted that an early visit to Swindon's ground may favour his side tomorrow.
"It'll be a demanding game, like it was last season," he said. "But we're getting there at a stage of the season when the pitch should be better, I thought it was a bit ropey last time.
"I'm looking forward to going back to a place where I got my first victory as Leeds manager, and we've got to be in confident mood."

Showunmi returns for Robins clash
Striker Enoch Showunmi could be back in contention for Leeds United's clash at Swindon Town, but Lubomir Michalik is suspended.
Showunmi was sidelined during last week's win over Crewe due to a back injury, but returned to full training this week and is expected to provide manager Gary McAllister with another option up front.
McAllister must decide whether to stick with Luciano Becchio alongside Jermaine Beckford, who has hit eight goals in seven matches this season, or recall Showunmi or possibly Rob Snodgrass.
Centre-half Michalik, dismissed in the closing stages against Crewe for a second yellow card, sits out a one-game ban.
Rui Marques and Paul Huntington are vying for a place in central defence alongside Paul Telfer, who is expected to shake off a groin strain sustained on Saturday.

Kanyuka ruled out of Leeds clash
Patrick Kanyuka is ruled out by a hamstring injury as Swindon play host to Leeds United at the County Ground on Saturday afternoon.
The DR Congo-born defender's absence means Jack Smith is expected to keep the left-back spot as Jamie Vincent will not be rushed back from his undiagnosed knee problem.
Midfielder Kasali Yinka Casal has suffered a knock to his back and is doubtful.
Striker Barry Corr could return to the first-team squad for the first time since March after six months out with a shoulder injury.
The Irishman has impressed for the reserves but is not expected to dislodge Billy Paynter or Simon Cox straight away.
"Barry's on schedule and looking F***er, stronger and is getting no twinges from the shoulder," assistant manager Dave Byrne told BBC Radio Swindon.
Young centre-back Tom Evans will not be considered as he has been sent out on trial at Lincoln with a view to a loan move.
