Ingen seriekamper mot Hereford i 2007-08, men to oppgjør i FA-cupen:
-   0-0 etter en latterlig dårlig kamp (sendt på Sky) i FA-cupens 1. runde 9/11:
             http://www.leedsunited.no/forum/index.php?topic=9342.0

             http://www.leedsunited.no/forum/index.php?topic=9387.0

Leeds har aldri før møtt Hereford i ligasammenheng, fjorårets to FA-kamper var historiens første oppgjør mellom de to klubbene.

Kamp 20/9:

Hereford 1 - 2 Scunthorpe
(HT: 1-0)
HU: Nick Chadwick pen 25
S: Sam Togwell 53, Gary Hooper 58

BULLS REMAIN ROCK BOTTOM AFTER LOSS
Scunthorpe fought back from a goal down to earn a 2-1 League One victory away at basement boys Hereford on Saturday afternoon.
The Iron wasted an early chance to take the lead when Cliff Byrne headed over the Hereford crossbar from six yards.
Hereford full-back Richard Jackson also came to the ball's rescue when he cleared off the line before Nick Chadwick opened the scoring from the penalty spot after 25 minutes.
Winger Matt Done was fouled by Scunthorpe captain Izzy Iriekpen as he swept into the area and Chadwick drove a spot-kick past goalkeeper Joe Murphy.
But Scunthorpe eventually drew level in the 54th minute when Sam Togwell drove a 12-yard shot past goalkeeper Darren Randolph into the far corner of the net.
Five minutes later Scunthorpe struck again when Gary Hooper cut into the area before placing the ball past Randolph from close-range.

It's Elland Road on Saturday
Next up for Hereford United is a visit to Leeds and supporters will be hoping for a repeat of the last fixture betwen the two clubs when a Lionel Ainsworth goal after just three minutes was the difference.
"You are going into a cauldron of noise and enthusiasm and against good players," said manager Graham Turner yesterday.
"This is the level we wanted to be playing at when we were in the Conference and Second Division. Now we have that test to go to Leeds and have the confidence to play like we can play and that is passing the ball."
Captain Karl Broadhurst has also spoken about the Leeds game.
"With the cup run last year a few of the lads will be familiar with playing there. They will know what to expect," he told BBC Hereford and Worcester.
"They get good crowds there and I expect a few more will be turning up because they know the name of Hereford now after last season.
"They will be looking to get revenge on us but sometimes a big game like that is what you need after a defeat at home. It can give you that boost.
"We know on our day we can be as good as anyone and we proved it last year."
There were short queues at the Edgar Street ticket office yesterday afternoon with supporters obtaining their tickets for Elland Road.
Supporters have until late Thursday to obtain tickets either in person or by post from the club and also to book a seat on coach transport assuming that is not sold out.

Laws To Officiate At Leeds
North East referee Graham Laws has been appointed to take charge of Saturday's trip to Leeds.
He took charge of the Bulls at Elland Road last season in the FA Cup, with the Bulls winning by the only goal of the game. He also oversaw the 3-1 win at Bradford last December and the 2-0 loss at Accrington the season before, where ex-Bull David Brown was sent off for Stanley. In eight games so far this season he has booked thirteen and sent only one off.

Kremt...ser litt PL innimellom, f.eks. LFCvsMU, Chelsea-City... Tror det kunne blitt svært ille for Leeds å bli utsatt for noe slikt. Nivået er NOE annerledes ja...

Countdown: Leeds United v Hereford United

Bottom of the table Hereford are gearing themselves up for Saturday's vital clash against League One title favourites Leeds at Elland Road.
The Bulls produced a genuine shock in the FA Cup last term, defeating the once mighty Leeds 1-0 in a 1st Round replay after an earlier goalless draw at Edgar Street.
Much has changed since then.
Hereford achieved automatic promotion from League Two whilst Leeds failed at the final hurdle as they attempted to get back into the Championship despite a crippling points penalty.
The Bulls goalscoring hero against Leeds was Lionel Ainsworth who was sold to Watford shortly after the Bulls cup giant-killing feat, paving the way for the eventual capture of Toumani Diagouraga on a 3-year contract.
Boss Graham Turner's squad were to fall to the FA Cup finalists Cardiff City in the 4th Round but in many ways the cup win at Elland Road was the catalyst to the Bulls League Two successes as it boosted the Hereford squads confidence to unprecented levels.
After winning against all the odds Turner said:
'Leeds might have fallen on hard times but they are still a very big club and in my book are certainties to win promotion this season.
'So we believe they are still a big cup scalp for us. We deserved our win. We competed well and played well.
'I thought we deserved to win overall. We created quite a few chances.
'We weren't overawed in any way and took a lot of confidence from the first game.
Leeds may have hit hard times but they are a big club and this is still a big scalp.'
Hereford also beat League One sides Hartlepool and Tranmere in the FA Cup, in addition to Yeovil Town who they had thrashed 4-1 in the Carling Cup.
Not long after the Bulls famous cup victory at Elland Road, Leeds had to replace their manager Dennis Wise following an approach from Newcastle United.
Indeed, in the last 10 months Leeds have lost Dennis Wise, Gus Poyet and Dave Bassett from their coaching staff.
But in many respects this has been a positive move as under new bosses Gary McAllister and Steve Staunton, Leeds are no longer playing the 'long ball game'.
After Hereford United's success at Elland Road last season, the former Leeds legend Eddie Gray said:
'I thought Hereford played very well, and for the majority of the game they were in control.
'We resorted to playing long balls, but the central defenders dealt with it very well.
'Credit to the owner, manager, chairman, as he's clearly got a good side, who believe in what they are doing.'
So, under McAllister it would appear Leeds are now operating under a totally new regime, with a style far away from that demanded by Wise.
Following Hereford's win last year Wise lashed out at his squad: 'We`ve played well in the league all season but not looked anything like as good in the cup.
'I thought my players were a bit brain dead. I couldn`t say that one of them played well.
'We didn`t pass the ball, we didn`t play our football and we made wrong decisions in all areas of the pitch.
'All credit to Hereford. They got the early goal they wanted and they played very well.
'For us it was a bad night at the office. There was so much wrong. The bodies were there but the minds weren't. We kept on shouting to them from the sideline but people weren't doing it'.
Last season the cup match attracted a gate of just over 11,000, but the fact is Hereford could run out at Elland Road in front of twice that number of supporters this weekend.

Bulls in Leeds 'scouting mission'

Hereford United are expected to take in tonight's Carling Cup clash as Leeds face Hartlepool at Elland Road.
It is unlikely that the Bulls management duo of Graham Turner and John Trewick will be in the stands themselves, but representatives of the club will be sending back a 'report' on the perceived strenghts and weaknesses of the Leeds side.
Only time will tell if the information obtained helps Hereford as they bid to repeat last season's epic win in the FA Cup.
Indeed, it was Don Revie who used to rely on huge 'dossiers' detailing each and every opponent at great length, but in reality the most important fact will be how well the Bulls players perform individually, and collectively on the day.
The task Hereford will face is a daunting one but, as is so often the case in the Bulls history, they often produce their best when they are the underdogs, or their chances have been written off altogether.
That already appears to be the case ahead of Saturday's match.
Ex Leeds legend Peter Lorimer says: 'The players at Leeds are brimming with confidence.
'We must be assertive and trust our ability to dominate again.
'Gary McAllister has already proved that he has the personnel, the organisation and the imagination to get out of League One this season'.
Carlisle United have been tipped by many pundits to go close to Leeds this season, but they were beaten 2-0 by Leeds at Brunton Park on Saturday.
The Cumbrians boss John Ward was impressed: 'I expect them to win the league and I'm not being flippant about that.
'I'm not going to put pressure on Gary, because he's already got that, but I've seen a number of other games and they're as good as anyone.
'I look at his bench and the other guys in his squad and he's got the back-up to fulfil that expectation.
'They were more clinical than us and they were better than us.'
Meanwhile, centre-half Paul Telfer insists he wants to see Leeds charge to the top of the table as soon as possible.
Speaking to the Yorkshire Evening Post the experienced 36-year-old defender said: 'It's good to be up there.
'Not everyone is bothered about the table at this stage of the season, but it's better to be in with the leading group than chasing other clubs.
'It would probably suit us to be out in front.
'We're close to the top at the moment and if you get there then you have to make sure you stay there. That's the challenge. But the players here would rise to it.
'They're hungry and I'm sure they'd keep the quality high.
'It's not a disaster to be off the top of the table but you'd rather be in that position if you had the chance.
'We know in our heart of hearts that we're good enough this season and we have to be honest enough to aim for that.'
Leeds currently sit handily positioned in third place in the League One table, and victory over Hereford would put pressure on Oldham Athletic and Scunthorpe.
Mind you, the Leeds United assistant manager Steve Staunton is not concerned about pressure.
He joked: 'As a good friend of mine said when I was in the Republic of Ireland job, pressure is for tyres.'

Bulls sign N'Gotty from Leicester

Bruno N'Gotty has signed a one-month loan deal with Graham Turner's Bulls
Hereford United have signed 37-year-old Leicester City defender Bruno N'Gotty on a one-month loan deal.

The former French international could make his debut on Saturday when the Bulls face Leeds United at Elland Road.

N'Gotty came to England seven years ago when he signed for Bolton Wanderers and spent a season at Birmingham City prior to moving to Leicester in June 2007.

He made 38 appearances for Leicester in the Championship last season.

Leeds v. Hereford Preview
Friday 26 Sep 2008 17:52:04 by Tim Whelan

Gary Mc.Allister has warned that Leeds will need to work hard to beat Hereford United tomorrow, even though the Bulls’ limited squad will be further depleted by injuries.

The boss told the official site "We'll give Hereford the utmost respect on Saturday. They've found the jump up hard from League Two,but they are a club that I admire. Their manager/chairman is a footballing man, and we must respect them. It'll be a tough game, but we go into it very confident." He hasn’t yet announced his squad for the game, and will have a few difficult decisions to make, as two different Leeds teams have secured victories in the last week against Carlisle and Hartlepool in different competitions.

But Macca insisted that the competition for places hasn’t dampened the enthusiasm of any of his players.  "There's a nice buzz when people arrive at training.  People are looking forward to coming in and working. There's a nice air about both Elland Road and the training ground. As much as people talk about team spirit being essential, winning games does that. But we're very wary that it takes just one instance to knock that, so we’re very focused on what we are doing."

The only certainty is that Alan Sheehan will be missing once again as he completes his three-match ban, so Aidan White or Ben Parker will have to deputise once again. Apart from that it’s anybody’s guess, but I would like to see Robinson on the right flank instead of Hughes, as the specialist winger will have more guile, which we might need to open up a packed Hereford defence. Whatever the line-up, they will be backed by a decent crowd, with the cheap seats likely to be sold out well before kick-off. It’s a category C game, but if you haven’t got a ticket already you’ll have to pay £24 to sit in the East or the West stand.

You will no doubt remember that Hereford beat Leeds fairly convincingly at Elland Road in an FA Cup replay last season, looking fairly slick on the break and causing problems for our defence with their pace and movement. But our team that night included a fair number of fringe players, and they will be facing a much improved Leeds side tomorrow. They have had a disappointing start to their first season after promotion and are currently bottom of the table, with no points away from home so far.

Sannsynlig lag (4-4-2): Lucas - Richardson, Telfer, Marques, White - Hughes, Douglas, Kilkenny, Delph - Becchio, Beckford.
