He won the bronze medal in the 1976 Olympics so he's used to being out in front.

Congratulations to Jermaine Beckford for winning the Powerade Player of the month for September. Chairman of the selection panel Chris Kamara said "Jermaine Beckford is one of the most prolific goalscorers in League 1. His finishing ability is second to none and his all-round game has also improved over the past couple of months. He's now scoring all different types of goals, from 30-yard screamers to headers and tap-ins., Jermaine is going to be a valuable member of Gary McAllister's side as they push for promotion this season”.
Beckford said: "It's nice to win the Player of the Month award, but the most important thing is how we are doing as a team. September was a good month for us. We made progress in both cups and got ourselves up towards where we want to be in the league. It's nice to get some goals early on, because it's all about helping us achieve what we want to achieve. But it's where we are and what we have all done in May that really counts."
The Coca Cola Team of the Week for League 1 contained no Leeds players (no surprise there after Peterborough) but was a diverse 11 with only MK Dons having more than one representative (two)

George Fallon
Once again I am sorry to announce the death of one of our Middleton Branch members. George Fallon was our oldest member of the Supporters Club.
Having reached his mid nineties and served as a member of the Branch since its creation.
George had not been a travelling member of the Supporters Club in recent years, but he had always carried his love of Leeds, Leeds United and indeed Hunslet Rugby League Football Club since settling in this country from Ireland many years ago. I understand his Saturday was not complete until he had heard the result of the United match and he was always willing to debate the merits of his favourite team. George had a wonderful sense of humour that stayed with him till the end and he will be sadly missed by the members of the Middleton Branch.
The Supporters Club is weakened by George`s death and our thoughts and condolences are with his family`
