We are Leeds!

Focus on Peterborough

YEP chief football writer Phil Hay takes a close look at Leeds United's opponents tomorrow - Peterborough United.

The Gaffer:
Darren Ferguson. Most widely known for being the son of Manchester United boss Sir Alex, the 36-year-old has done his family's name proud at London Road.
Ferguson had no managerial experience behind him when he became player-manager of Peterborough United in January 2007, but he won promotion from League Two at the end of his first full season and the club are not yet out of the running for a top-two finish in League One this term.
As a player, Ferguson began his career at Manchester United and enjoyed his best years with Wolverhampton Wanderers and Wrexham. Ferguson's creditable record as boss shows 55 victories from 104 matches.

The Danger
Aaron McLean. Peterborough's striker missed the game between the clubs at London Road on October 4 with a dislocated elbow, but he has scored eight goals since his return and is half of a prolific partnership with 18-goal forward Craig Mackail-Smith.
McLean is rated highly by Peterborough's staff and his goalscoring record during two years with the Posh has been outstanding.
Plucked from Grays Athletic for £150,000, the 25-year-old has produced 41 league goals from 70 starts, and he weighed in with a staggering tally of 33 during the 2007-08 season as Peterborough cruised to automatic promotion from League Two.

The Form
Peterborough's promising league position â€" the club are third in League One, four points behind MK Dons â€" is largely the result of their superb home form.
The Posh have won eight of their 12 matches at London Road, including a 2-0 victory over Leeds, and have lost just once, and their tally of league defeats for the term stands at four.
Ferguson's side were given the run around by Leicester City last month, losing 4-0 at the Walkers Stadium, but incredibly that represents their only league defeat since August and the club fought out a goalless draw with MK Dons on Tuesday night.
Peterborough are solid at the back and effective up front, and their 25 league matches have yielded 46 goals.

The Odds
Leeds are 6-5 favourites with William Hill to exact revenge for their defeat at London Road in October. Peterborough are a longer price at 9-5, while Hills go 11-5 about the draw.

The Whistler
Anthony Taylor. Taylor is one of the Football League's least experienced officials. After 23 games, his disciplinary record for the 2008-09 campaign shows 57 cautions and three dismissals.

Leeds United manager Simon Grayson told BBC Radio Leeds: "I watched them against West Brom in the Cup last week and they're a good team.

"They've obviously got the momentum going from the promotion but they've also got some exciting footballers and major threats in the right positions."

Jermaine Beckford returns to Leed United's attack

LEEDS United’s promotion bid in Coca-Cola League One will boosted tomorrow by the return of top-scorer Jermaine Beckford.
The 25-year-old striker has been on the sidelines since suffering a hamstring injury in the loss at Northampton at the end of November, but is expected to return to the line-up â€" or at least get a place on the bench â€" for the visit of Peterborough to Elland Road.
Winger Robert Snodgrass is also in the running for a return having missed last weekend’s win at Brighton, while loan signings Richard Naylor and Carl Dickinson could make their home debuts. However, skipper Frazer Richardson is ruled out with his thigh injury.
Beckford has been in full training for a week and has been given the all-clear to return to match action.
Manager Simon Grayson, who has admitted he wants to make two more signings before the transfer window closes, said: “Jermaine has trained with us now for a week and, all being well, he will be in contention tomorrow. He is our leading goalscorer and if it hadn’t been for the little problems he’s had with his hamstring he would probably be the leading scorer in this league.
“Hopefully he can kick on from here and do what we know he does best.”
Scotsman Snodgrass has shaken off the effects sustained in training on the eve of the Brighton match. However, right-back Richardson has had a routine scan on his thigh and will not be able to play against the Posh.
Meanwhile, academy starlet Tom Lees, 18, has signed a professional contract running to 2011.
Academy manager Neil Thompson, the former York City boss, said of the centre-back who underwent major knee surgery last year: “Tom has come through a lot this last year with the operation and re-hab.
“He has showed good character, persistence and discipline. He is a young player with plenty of potential and has to kick on from now.”

Hughes is relishing Posh test

LEEDS United will be looking to build on their victory at Brighton last weekend when they entertain Peterborough United at Elland Road tomorrow.
But they will not find it easy against Darren Ferguson's high-flying Posh who are third in the League One table, just four points outside the automatic promotion places.
Leeds are eight points back - five outside the play-off places - and utility ADVERTISEMENTman Andrew Hughes believes they are where they should be after an up and down campaign.
"The table doesn't lie," Hughes said. "Peterborough are above us because they deserve to be there and we deserve to be where we are because we haven't been good enough.
"You could argue that we will be underdogs. We have to out and take the game to them and try and win the game, and hopefully they won't sit back.
"The manager has worked on defending and making us more solid.
"You start with a point - I know a point is a set-back because we need to win as many as we can - but you need a starting point.
"I do think we need to be nastier and with the two lads coming in last weekend we were nastier. We want to do it by any means necessary. Football is a results business, that's how we are judged."
United could be without skipper Frazer Richardson who limped from the field after an hour at the Withdean Stadium with a thigh strain.
And boss Simon Grayson will also be checking on strikers Robert Snodgrass (ankle) and Jermaine Beckford (hamstring) who both missed the trip to Sussex.

Come on Leeds- this is it !!!!!

Se på dette sitatet:
Peterborough winger George Boyd says a Posh win tomorrow would end Leeds' chances of reaching the top two.
Boyd said: "We're still treating Leeds as one of our main rivals, but if we beat them tomorrow they will find it very hard to catch us. Eleven points is a lot to make up so our main aim tomorrow is to get another three points and finish them off.

"We know it won't be easy up there as they will have a different side to the one that we beat earlier in the season, but it should be a cracking match."

"They are still a big club based on the amount of fans and I couldn't have imagined during my Stevenage days that I would be playing a league match at Elland Road within a couple of years. All the players are up for it and looking forward to beating them again."

Forever Leeds United!!!!!!!!

jarle

Allanclarke

Meget viktig kamp i ettermiddag. Vi må vinne.

hallo Leeds-venner...(?)
