Zaaboub believes his side will test
Sofiene Zaaboub believes Walsall will test visiting Leeds as they look to continue from their strong midweek finish.
The Saddlers had Swindon on the rack, as they fought back from 3-0 down to 3-2 with 12 minutes remaining.
They could have stolen an unlikely point had Alex Nicholls’ volley deflected in, rather than wide, in the dying seconds of the game,
Zaaboub says they can take heart from their fightback and, with the imminent return of key players, he feels the Saddlers can keep moving in the right direction against Leeds.
The Frenchman said: “We played well late in the game against Swindon and we will take some confidence and momentum from that. We were 3-0 down but did not drop our heads and we showed the character to come back
“We finished the game well and deserved to get a draw – and we would have done if Alex had not have been so unlucky with his shot in the last minute.
“That was unlucky because it was a really good strike. But the way we fought back will give us more confidence for the next few games.
‘‘We have some tough matches coming up and Leeds is a massive club with good players and a good team. But football is only 11 against 11 so if we work hard and do our best we can push them hard.â€
A stop start career at the Banks’s Stadium has seen Zaaboub cut a frustrated figure but he is ready to make up for lost time.
He has impressed in his two games under Chris Hutchings, after being injured for much of his time under previous boss Jimmy Mullen.
The former St Etienne winger said: “I’m happy to be in the team and I really enjoy it.“I am full of confidence in the new manager, so I will keep going and try to do well for the next few games.
“Of course, when you’ve got a new manager everybody changes. You want to impress the manager and you think about the new chance and try to do well. The atmosphere is great.â€
