Whites waiting for news of loan striker Sam Vokes
Leeds United are keeping their fingers crossed that Sam Vokes will join up with his team-mates today ahead of their long trek south to Brighton.
The loan striker was in action for Wales Under-21's in their 2-1 loss to Bosnia-Herzegovina in Sarajevo on Wednesday, following his appearance for the senior team against Scotland in Cardiff last Saturday when he came on as a half-time sub.
Vokes wasn't back in time for training at Thorp Arch yesterday, but United are hopeful he'll link up today with Simon Grayson's troops, who are set to train at Fulham this afternoon ahead of tomorrow's Withdean Stadium clash.
Patrick Kisnorbo, Alan Martin and Rui Marques have already reported back from international duty, with the latter making an earlier-than- expected return from his commitments with Angola. He was sent back to the UK to continue his rehabilitation following an Achilles injury – after they deemed him not fit enough.
Grayson said: "Sam's not reported back yet because he's been with Wales Under-21s but, hopefully, everybody is going to be in contention."
On the situation with Marques, he added: "We felt he was fit enough to go away with Angola. They felt he wasn't quite fit enough to play international football, which is fair enough – they called him up.
"We threw him into a reserve game and he just needs games all the time now. He's not far away, that's for sure."
United report no fresh injury problems, with midfielder Michael Doyle available after sitting out last week's Johnstone's Paints Trophy clash with Grimsby through suspension.
Striker Tresor Kandol serves the final game of a three-match ban.
Dutch keeper Michael Kuipers (groin) is rated 50-50 for Albion. (YEP)
