So former Leeds United stars Eirik Bakke, Alfie Haaland and Gunnar Halle should feel right at home when they pull on their boots in wintry Yorkshire tomorrow.
The trio are due to play in a fundraising football match at Kippax Welfare Club, kick-off 1.30pm.
They will be lining up as part of a Norway XI for the game against Kippax FC's first team.
Also in action for the Norwegians will be ex-Blackburn Rovers defender Tore Pedersen, a keen Leeds fan.
Ex-Premiership stars aside, the Norway XI will be drawn from a group of about 200 Leeds supporters over from Scandinavia for the club's home game against Crystal Palace on Saturday.
And Kippax-based United superfan Gary Edwards expects the visitors to prove tough opposition for the local lads.
Gary, who has only missed one Leeds game in more than 40 years, said: "They're used to playing on snow, so that's a bit of a head start for them.
"The Norwegians have also got (former Leeds striker] Andy Ritchie on their team - he couldn't get in the Kippax side!
"We're hopeful the weather won't stop the match going ahead.
"Every effort's going to be made to get it on and we want as many people as possible to come along and show their support.
"We've been telling everyone the Vikings are back - and this time they're bringing their boots!"
The game will be followed by a packed evening of entertainment at the social club, on Longdike Lane.
Proceeds will go towards the purchase of a new wheelchair for two-year-old cerebral palsy sufferer Noah Woolford, who comes from Kippax.
United's strong Norway fanbase developed after matches during the club's 1970s glory years started being shown on TV in the country.
