Fra LUSC Griffin Branch;
Dear All,
Following an Extraordinary General Meeting held on Thursday, 31st May our Chairman, Ray Fell, reported that The Old Peacock was operating in very difficult trading conditions. As a result of the smoking ban, high brewery prices charged by Greene King, poor Mon-Fri trade and the indifferent performances by LUFC on the pitch the pub ran into debt as the season ended. Despite tremendous efforts of the Old Peacock Ltd board, and significant personal investments by Ray, Dave Gaertner, Chris Hall, Richard Binns and in particular Phil Beeton, these came to no avail.
It was reluctantly decided at the meeting following reports from our Licence trade advisors that the company would be put into voluntary liquidation with the loss of all financial investment injected by Leeds United Supporters Club. The company entered voluntary liquidation on 7th June and the creditor's meeting took place today (Friday 22nd) to finalise paperwork.
We are currently in negotiations with the new licence holders to continue having The Old Peacock as headquarters both for meetings and on matchdays. If these negotiations are successful there will be little change to members. At the moment our Branch AGM will remain in the pub on Tuesday, 10th July with an 8pm start.
Please note this in no way affects the future operations of Leeds United Supporters Club which will continue to function in the same way as it always has.
Also please find attached your renewal letter and membership form to complete for the coming season. Cheques payable to LUSC Griffin Branch.
For a few of our Overseas members who have already paid in advance for 2012/13 season you just need to complete the renewal form as your membership cards will automatically be processed ready for you to collect.
regards,
Chris Beeton
