McDermott - Max on list of two or three players Leeds United boss Brian McDermott says he is looking to bring in two or three new players in January with Max Gradel on the list of players he is keen to bring to Elland Road.
The former Leeds winger has been linked with a return to Elland Road and McDermott admits he is interested in bringing him back to Leeds, two-years after he left for St Etienne in the top-flight of the French League.
Speaking on LUTV, McDermott said, "I have two or three targets that I will discuss with the board come January and we will see where we go.
"Max Gradel will be on a list of players that we like. When you are trying to sign two or three players, you cannot just have two or three players on the list, we must have options.
"There are players out there who we think will improve us and if one of those is Max Gradel and we can do a deal, then great."
With a consortium led by managing director David Haigh in the process of buying a 75% stake in Leeds United, McDermott could be handed a substantial transfer budget when the January transfer window opens in just over two weeks.
The consortium are hoping to have their investment in the club agreed in time for McDermott to strengthen his squad during January with the side handily placed for a push for a return to the Premier League after a ten-year absence by the end of this season.
Leeds returned to the top six in the division with a win at Doncaster Rovers last weekend and they have now won seven of their last eleven games.
McDermott knows what it takes to get out of this division after leading Reading to the Premier League just two seasons ago. Reading made a surging run in the second half of the season, as they won fifteen of their seventeen games during a period between January and April.
