Leeds United have opened talks with Chesterfield over a £500,000 deal for defender Liam Cooper.
Chesterfield value the 22-year-old at closer to £1m.

Leeds have also shown interest in Kieran Agard of Rotherham.

Lees ut og Cooper inn, helt greit!

Her blir det kanskje forhandlinger?

Over the top kanskje...?

Leeds United transfer target Zan Benedicic has revealed his first target at Elland Road before even signing for the club.

The AC Milan midfielder has confirmed that he is just ‘one step away’ from becoming a Leeds player and says that his first aim will be to break into the first team.

"We are waiting all the documents and the last confirmations, then I will sign,” he said to the Italian media. “I am one step away from becoming a Leeds player. This opportunity is very good to me."

"They [Leeds] wanted me intensely and I always liked English football. My first goal? To achieve a place in the starting eleven.”

The 18-year-old should have no trouble doing that if he performs as expected, either.

Benedicic is considered one of Milan’s finest prospects, but this will be his first real taste of first team football, as he is still waiting to make his debut for the Italian giants, and it will be interesting to see how he adapts to life in England’s second tier.

He is an attacking midfielder known for his creativity and flair, so will have to quickly show that he is capable of perfoming in a league as fast paced and physical as the Championship if he is to achieve his aim.

In signing he will continue to make the Leeds squad look even more cosmopolitan. Since the takeover of the club by Massimo Cellino, he has used his contacts across his homeland to secure deals and Benedicic will become the fifth player to join up from an Italian side this summer.

Most of the deals struck so far have been loan bids, rather than permanent additions, but Leeds do have plenty of money following the sale of Ross McCormack if they do wish to spend it.

Benedicic could be partnered in midfield this season by another potential signing Federico Viviani, who is expected to join Elland Road in the near future, whilst Rodolph Austin is likely to provide the steel in the middle of the park for David Hockaday’s men for their upcoming campaign.

I scored 24 goals helping my side win promotion back to the Premier League aged just 22. Then in my first season in the top flight I had bagged an impressive 15 goals by the end of January. My form earned me an England call-up. Am I a £35m striker? No. I am Michael Ricketts, February 2002.

Leeds United: Benedicic move ‘to be sealed next week’

Zan Benedicic remains on course to complete his loan to Leeds United and arrive at Elland Road in time for the start of the new season.

The AC Milan midfielder is closing in an a season-long move to England, with a deal set to be finalised early next week.

Milan are willing to release Benedicic for the whole of the 2014-15 term and they and United have been discussing the option of including a clause in the deal which gives Leeds the right to sign the 18-year-old permanently next summer.

Benedicic â€" an attacking midfielder who was born in Slovenia and is part of Milan’s youth-team squad â€" is willing to come to the Championship and flew home early from Milan’s pre-season tour of the USA on Tuesday night to push the transfer to Leeds forward.

Milan coach Filippo Inzaghi was reluctant to lose Benedicic when United first enquired about him at the start of last month but Benedicic is far down the order of players at the San Siro and on the very fringes of Inzaghi’s plans.

His agent, Amir Ruznic, told the YEP: “Next week I hope to finish everything.”

Benedicic is one of two midfielders who are poised to join United, with Federico Viviani also waiting to put the finishing touches to his protracted loan move from Roma.

The terms of Viviani’s transfer were belatedly agreed on Monday after a difficult weekend in which United owner Massimo Cellino claimed to have abandoned the transfer of the player on the back of three days of unsuccessful talks.

Viviani’s camp, all of whom are back in Rome, expected to ratify the agreement before Tuesday’s friendly against Swindon Town but are understood to have been left without the documentation they need to formally complete his move.

Cellino is due to arrive back in England after two weeks abroad later today and his return to England should finally pull Viviani’s switch over the line.

Leeds have been awaiting their sixth summer signing since bringing in Swiss full-back Gaetano Berardi on a two-year deal from Sampdoria on July 18.
