Neil Redfearn says surprising big name players want to sign for Leeds United
Neil Redfearn has given an encouraging transfer update for Leeds United fans.
Leeds United boss Neil Redfearn has given an encouraging update regarding potential player recruitment.
The transfer window is closed, but the Football League loan window is open, and the club's head coach has made it common knowledge he wants to add a player or two, quoted by Talksport a week ago admitting he wants a winger.
Asked about the progress of enquiries after the weekend's 1-0 win over Millwall, Redfearn claimed there may be potentially exciting news around the corner, suggesting there are 'big name' players who want to sign.
Speaking to BBC Radio Leeds, he said: "It's a big club. It's easy to sell. They want to come. The names that want to come, you'd be surprised. There are some big names that want to come.
"I can only suggest and put these players forward, its up to the powers that be to make the right decisions."
Redfearn did not go into detail or give anything away as to the identity of the players concerned.
As head coach he does not have a final say over signings, with the club structure put into play by owner Massimo Cellino putting the power in the hands of sporting director Nicola Salerno.
Leeds played Alex Mowatt on the left wing to great effect over the weekend, with the youngster netting the winner in the clash at Elland Road.
While much of the club's transfer activity has revolved around signing players from Italy, Redfearn knows English football better and his comments may suggest he is targeting bringing in new faces from the Premier League.
