Medina, Leeds progress in SESDO Nawetaan

Medina FC and Leeds United became the latest teams to book places in the quarterfinals of the Serekunda East Sports Development Organisation (SESDO) Nawetaan following respective wins at the weekend.

Hannover on Sunday defeated Jola Kunda by a lone goal to nil in their last match of the group with Karamo Ceesay scoring the game’s only goal after 11 minutes. Hannover FC, who finished the group campaign on seven points from four games is not yet through to the knockout stages, while Jola Kunda on six points and with a game in hand could join them with a win against B.J Academy on Thursday.

Medina FC also defeated Manchester United by Sanna Darboe’s 58th minute goal to nil. Medina who won all their three group stage matches have a maximum nine points and also finished as group winners. Whilst Manchester United who is on three points from as many games has been knocked out.

Leeds United also saw off the challenge from London United with Abdoulie Sidebeh’s 80th minute goal the only difference between the two sides and in the process secured his side’s place in the last 16 with five points. The result has also relegated London United with only a solitary point to show off for their efforts.

Meanwhile, the other confirmed relegated teams in this year’s competition so far are Istanbul FC with one point from three games and Cannon FC.

In the other results, Milan FC defeated Cannon 2-0; One Love FC beat Blue Stars 1-0, the Baboucarr Jallow’s Academy drew goalless with Abuko United and Latrikunda United also defeated Istanbul by a similar scoreline.
