Wood signs, but will it be a double signing day for The Whites?  0
By Tom Carnduff on Jul 1, 2015 Championship, Featured, Leeds United, Transfers Following the news that Chris Wood has signed for Leeds United today, another new face could be through the doors at Elland Road with reports emerging that Manchester City winger Brandon Barker is set to be announced later today or tomorrow.
It has been no secret that a deal for Barker has been agreed, with Leeds showing an interest in the 18-year-old since the end of May. Now that interest has finally developed into a bid, and Leeds have agreed a season-long loan for the England under-19 international.
With Barker’s contract up at the end of next season, Leeds will be free to sign the winger should his loan spell be successful, the player would not be completely costless however, as a compensation figure would need to be agreed due to Barker’s age.
He has been an effective winger for the City under-21 side this season, scoring 6 and assisting 4 in 18 league appearances. In the UEFA Youth League, Barker featured 11 times, with 4 goals and 4 assists.
Barker will add some much needed width to Uwe Rosler’s side, and will hope to use the opportunity of first team football to help him develop for the future.
