Leser på waccoe at 17-åringer maks kan signere treårskontrakter.
Leeds brukte i det minste uttrykket 'long term contract'.

Fantastisk nyhet.

Leeds-Live oppsummerer dagens situasjon her.

PS!

The Athletic bekrefter utlån i dag;

Leeds United's Harry Gray joins Rotherham on loan until end of the season

Leeds United's Harry Gray has joined Rotherham United on loan for the remainder of the 2025-26 season.

The Athletic reported on Wednesday Rotherham had finalised a move for Gray and the club later confirmed the move.

The 17-year-old, brother of Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Archie, is expected to be available for their weekend fixture.

The South Yorkshire outfit are 21st in League One, five points from safety, and travel to Stockport County on Saturday afternoon.

The loan will run to the end of the season, with Leeds and Gray hopeful that a long-awaited taste of senior football will aid his development. Matt Hamshaw, the Rotherham manager, was asked about the links to Gray after his side's 3-0 loss to Huddersfield Town in the Football League Trophy on Tuesday night.

He said, per the Rotherham Advertiser: "We've been linked to a number of players. We'll just have to wait and see. I like a lot of players."

Gray signed his first professional contract last October, after turning 17. He has scored prolifically throughout United's youth categories and has continued to be a force with the club's under-21s this season.

A taste of senior men's football, in front of crowds and with points at stake, is what Leeds feel he needs next in his development. Rotherham's New York Stadium is a 48-mile drive from the Leeds training ground, so his family and support network will remain nearby as he takes his next steps.

I didn't feel like I'd gain anything else from playing youth football any more, I felt I was ready to play men's football."

Leeds United striker Harry Gray says he was pushing for a loan move this month and believes time at Rotherham United will be better for him than more youth football.

Gode rollermodeller. Fantastisk av Bamford.

Fair Play to Patrick Bamford, still helping out Harry Gray and Leeds United.

1-1 i dag for Rotherham. Harry startet som vanlig, ut etter 78 minutter.

Gray is ridiculous for L1 level. Rest of Players are nowhere near his level. Think he's a premier league player and no surprise Leeds fans are excited about him #rufc

A famous family, footballs in the house and passing his driving test ... an interview with Rotherham United new boy Harry Gray
By Paul Davis  Published 20th Jan 2026, 17:49 GMT

HIS elder brother, Archie, is a Premier League regular with Tottenham Hotspur, has won a European Trophy and has played in the Champions League.
But Harry Gray is in no doubt which of the two teenagers has the most potential.

"Me!" grins the 17-year-old star of the future who has just joined Rotherham United from top-flight Leeds United on loan for the rest of the season.

"Obviously, I'm going to say myself, but the sky's the limit for him as well."

The pair are close. Defender Archie is two years older and has been there and done more, but the word coming out of West Yorkshire is that his striker sibling has the talent to follow in his illustrious path.

"He's definitely helped me in so many ways," says Harry. "We talk a lot. It's so good to have someone you can look up to and relate to. He's gone through all of it. He's a professional player and I can speak to him about anything that's happened."

Both of them have come through the acclaimed Leeds youth ranks and their footballing heritage is a rich one.

Great-uncle Eddie is an Elland Road legend from the 1960s and 70s, grandad Frank isn't too far off that status while dad Andy also wore the famous white shirt.

"Growing up, everywhere in the house was a football," Harry says. "I've got three brothers, two younger ones. All of us have got a football with us all the time.

"It drives my mum a bit crazy, to be fair! There's always balls being kicked about and stuff."

We're talking at the Roundwood training complex two days before the youngster would make an encouraging Millers debut in his first ever start in the senior game, at Stockport County last Saturday.

He's wearing a baggy light-grey jogging suit and black-and-grey trainers trainers and will be joining some of his teammates for a bite to eat in the Roundwood canteen as soon as he's finished answering questions.

While not exactly chatty, he's amiable and assured. He's done some media work in the Leeds junior set-up so this isn't his first rodeo, and a tendency to scratch his ears when he's talking is the only minor show of nerves.

The prospect knows exactly why Rotherham have turned to him in their bid to climb the League One table.

"Ultimately, I'm about scoring goals and expressing myself. I like to make things happen," he says.

His prolific form in the youth-team environment has raised expectations and he adds: "It's good to have pressure. If people are relying on you to score goals, there's a reason for it. You've got to provide.

"For me, it's just about scoring and helping the team, playing regular men's football and doing what I know I can do.

"You have to take it as a positive that people are rating you highly. They're doing it for a reason, I've got to prove to everyone that I'm actually that good.

""Rotherham was the right place for me to go to because I knew I'd be playing games. It was going to be a good opportunity for me to score goals, and I felt trusted.

"The manager's been telling me I'm going to play every game and stuff like that. It's what you need to do at this age. He knows what type of player I am and what he's going to get from me."

Brother Archie made more than 50 appearances for Leeds after his Championship bow aged 17 and five months and then made a £30-million switch to Spurs in July 2024.

He has since played in excess of 60 times for the North London giants and came on as a substitute in their Europa League Final win over Manchester United in Bilbao, Spain, last May.

It's encouraged Harry to dream big.

"I think about what I want to achieve in my career, what trophies I want to win," he says. "Ultimately, it's what's going to get you there that's important - how you are every day. The small steps are probably the most important. It's that one per cent that's going to get you there."

In the summer, there was no chance of him coming to AESSEAL New York Stadium. He had to wait until he'd signed a long-term pro deal in October before the rules allowed a temporary spell away from his parent club to be arranged during the January transfer window.

"Once I knew I wasn't playing at Leeds this season, a loan was a thing that I wanted to do," he says. "I just wanted to go and get regular minutes in men's football.

"Rotherham is close to home, which is a positive thing. It's not like I'm moving away, it's nothing too out of the ordinary. I'm still staying at home with my family.

"I'm just a Leeds fan who happens to be a player. Before I was in and around it, I'd go to every game. It's what I want to do, to play for Leeds. This is going to help me get there."

League One is a new experience for a player who had a fleeting taste of Championship action off the bench on the day Daniel Farke's side won promotion to the Premier League with a 6-0 home romp over Stoke City last April.

"I'm not used to playing week in, week out with a full men's team," he says. "It's going to be different, but I know what to expect and I know I can do well here."

His first Millers date with the media goes well. His polish makes it easy to forget just how young he is, and a tiny splash of acne is the only giveaway to his tender years.

Talking of tender years, the two even more juvenile Grays look like they might follow on the production line one day

"They're 10 and 12, I think. Or nine and 12," says Harry with typical teenage forgetfulness. "The youngest is at Leeds and the other one's just enjoying it at the minute. They're doing well, yeah."

Meanwhile, football isn't the only thing he excels at. Consider the little matter of his driving test.

He turned 17 only three months ago but is driving himself down the M1 from Leeds to Rotherham every day.

"Yeah, I passed after a week," he says. "I did my theory the day after my birthday and then put in for my practical straight away and passed that as well."

It took Archie a bit longer ...
