Ny behind closed doors treningskamp i morgen.

Synes 3600 minutter med treningskamp høres litt i overkant ut  ;D

💪 A special day for Daniel Farke, managing against his 18-year-old son Luis Engelns, who gave a very good account of himself against Leeds United.

Leeds United tour diary: New tactical tweaks and Daniel Farke's stance on signing his son

A few bits of insight from Leeds United's pre-season tour as the players get ready to fly home

Isaac Johnson rapporterer.

Leeds United played their final friendly in Germany on Saturday as they prepare to return to Yorkshire once again. The 3-2 win over Paderborn was less about the scoreline than integrating new players into the system Daniel Farke is employing for next season. Anton Stach was handed his Leeds United debut with newest signing Lucas Perri watching on from the bench.

Joel Piroe, Wilfried Gnonto and Lukas Nmecha got on the scoresheet at the Home Deluxe Arena, with all three enjoying encouraging pre-season schedules.

It's been a busy week and the squad has been put through its paces in Germany, with going home now firmly on the mind. Saturday offered yet more insight into the team's preparations.

Tactical tweaks
Within the 4-3-3 formation, Ethan Ampadu remained in the anchor with Ao Tanaka and Stach pushed slightly ahead albeit still central. Much like last season, when the centre-backs had the ball, the full-backs pushed up and a midfielder came back to act as a third centre-half.

But another, new device was used by Farke too. In certain phases, the advanced full-backs would invert and almost act as wide number 10s with the central midfielders then slotting into the full-back positions.

Another interesting ploy saw Jack Harrison switch to left-back after coming on at right-wing at half time, with Wilfried Gnonto on the left.

This was partly because Isaac Schmidt is injured but also shows that Farke trusts Harrison in various positions, having played him left wing against Manchester United and SC Verl.

Robbie Evans watches on
Managing director Robbie Evans was in attendance for the match in what has been, and still is, a busy maiden summer in the role. Sporting director Adam Underwood has also been in Germany to help carry out transfers, he too enjoying his first window in the position.

Farke has gone on record underlining his pleasure at the speed of transfer progress, with seven players acquired some three weeks before the start of the season and more than a month before deadline day.

Evans had to rush off at full-time, such is the life of a managing director. It's encouraging to see the key figures being present and on the front foot this week.

Farke was full of praise for both him and the rest of the recruitment team this summer. "They fulfil what we what we have planned and I'm pretty happy with this," he said after full-time.

Home kit debut
Leeds United wore their new home kit for the first time during the game, donning the famous white once more - though this time with their numbers in black Premier League print. The fresh kit design has been described as underwhelming and lacking imagination by some supporters.

Two kits have been released now, the blue away one being received more enthusiastically by fans. A third strip is in the pipeline, due to be released in-season. The design and colour has not yet been confirmed, despite various supposed 'leaks' circulating social media.

Leeds are also set to have a new sleeve sponsor, which has yet to appear on any of the kits so far but is expected to be revealed in time for the new season.

Other moments
Daniel Farke's son, Luis Engelns, played as a midfield anchor for Paderborn - and played very well. His positioning, vision and choice of decision shows very good potential for an 18-year-old.

Farke afterwards said he would "never" sign his son due to the position that would inevitably would both persons in, but he outlined Engelns is "definitely the type of player that I like, there's no doubt about this".

Other moments witnessed included Nechma playing header keep-ups with a coach just before kick off and Harry Gray - who sat out the game with a slight injury - clapping the substitutes to the bench in the absence of a crowd.

God match!

auren

Perri - Bogle, Rodon, Ampadu, Gudmundsson - Stach, Longstaff, Tanaka - James, Piroe, Gnonto

Tips: 2-1 (Piroe og Stach)

Kampdag i morgen kl 16!

«Leeds United will be making a change to the running order of matchday music, following supporter consultation.

After winning promotion back to the top-flight, the club has to play the Premier League Anthem as the players line-up, ahead of handshakes on the pitch (approximately 30 seconds after leaving the tunnel).

As a result of the above, Leeds, Leeds, Leeds (Marching on Together), the club's anthem and current walkout song would have to be stopped after 30 seconds for the Premier League Anthem.

Therefore, for the new season, Fanfare for the Common Man will be played, along with Strings for Yasmin as the players leave the tunnel and enter the pitch, followed by the Premier League Anthem. Once the Premier League Anthem has finished, Leeds, Leeds, Leeds (Marching on Together), will then be played in full, without any interruptions ahead of the match kicking-off.

This is an identical process which fellow Premier League sides Liverpool and Nottingham Forest, who also play their club anthems in full in the same way, use.

This change will be implemented for the first time in Saturday's match with Villarreal at Elland Road, which will be used as a test run through.

Thank you for your continued support, Marching on Together!
