Clarke OduorAlex Wollerton’s 33rd minute goal was enough to secure Leeds United’s Under-23s a 1-0 victory over Ossett United at Ingfield Stadium.
The home side had the first chance of the game when Adam Priestley struck from range, but he couldn’t find the target.
Leeds should have taken the lead inside eight minutes, Bobby Kamwa sent Oliver Sarkic away down the right side and he picked out Clarke Oduor unmarked in the box, but he put his shot over the crossbar.
Aidan Chippendale went close for Ossett when he struck a half volley on the edge of the box, which went just over.
The Whites then lost possession on the edge of their own box and Tom Corner went through on goal, but Harrison Male in the Leeds goal kept the scores level with a fine save.
After a period with few chances for either side, Leeds went in front. Eunan O’Kane sent Wollerton into the Ossett box with a neat through ball and he showed good footwork before firing home.
Ossett nearly levelled straight after the restart when Priestley fired a volley from the edge of the box which went just wide.
Just before the break, Kamwa drove up field and let fly from the edge of the area and his effort was just inches away from finding the top right corner.
