Stood up to the task of facing a Premier League-calibre winger in Christian Atsu relatively well. Matched the Ghanaian physically and stepped out of defence as he likes to do.
Granted, Atsu is at the lower end of top flight wingers, but it was a more trying test than Drameh faces most weeks - and he performed to the required standard.
Struggled a little more in the closing stages as a right-sided centre-back in a back-three, though, it must be said.
Liker også at Gelhardt klarte seg godt mot fysisk robuste midtstoppere:
Proper centre-forwards fashion goalscoring chances out of nothing and Joe Gelhardt was no different from that today. Leaning his body into two challenges inside the penalty area in the first half, he saw penalty appeals waved away in the first instance, before securing a spot-kick with his second attempt.
Gelhardt was cool and calm from the spot, but his influence in open play was considerable. He is rugged, hard to handle and a real bully for opposition defenders.
Given the size of Newcastle centre-backs Bradley Cross and Ludwig Francilette, the fact Gelhardt was able to impose upon them is a mightily impressive endorsement of how well he could adapt to senior football.Acceleration and ability to draw fouls is second to none.
