Litt leit..... men alt for LEEDS!!!!

Svend Anders

Result: Leeds United 1 Luton 0

TRESOR KANDOL'S first half goal was enough for Leeds United to claim their best start to a league season in almost a quarter of a century.
The former Barnet forward struck just before the break to capitalise on fine work by partner Jermaine Beckford and ensure United claimed a fourth consecutive victory.
It is the first time Leeds have enjoyed such a start in the league since Eddie Gray was manager in 1984 and means that another win next week against Hartlepool United will mean the draconian 15-point penalty imposed by the Football League will have been wiped out.
United broke the deadlock in front of a magnificent crowd of 26,856 when good work from Jermaine Beckford on the left saw the ball worked to Kandol and he smashed the ball past David Forde in the Hatters' goal from 12 yards out.
The lead was deserved with Leeds having wasted a golden chance to open the scoring just before the half-hour when Beckford shot wide despite being played through on the goalkeeper.
The opening owed much to the vision of Tresor Kandol with the striker looking up before chipping an inch-perfect ball for his partner to chase.
Defender Keith Keane tried to cut out the ball but failed to connect, which presented Beckford with a glorious chance that he shot wide from 10 yards out.
It was a big let-off for Luton who also seemed to get away with a decent appeal for a penalty in the seventh minute when Kandol appeared to be impeded by Chris Coyne only for the referee to wave away the home side's appeals.
Kevin Blackwell's side failed to muster a shot on target in the first half with their best opening seeing former Sheffield Wednesday striker Drew Talbot get to the by-line before drilling the ball across the United six-yard box but away from his two team-mates.
The visitors improved after the break with Paul Furlong putting the ball in the net six minutes after the restart only for his 'goal' to be ruled out for a tug on Rui Marques.
David Bell also came within a whisker of equalising with a stinging 25-yard shot that flew just inches over the crossbar with Casper Ankergren well beaten on the hour.
Beckford went close for United but, in the end, it did not matter as Kandol's goal proved enough to cut the club's points deficit to three.

Forward-thinking Blackwell enjoys tremendous Leeds reception

Wise points accusing finger at 'bitter' Blackwell
'A warm handshake' between Kevin Blackwell's and Dennis Wise led to a touchline melee after today's (Saturday, September 1) game, but the Luton boss would be drawn on what happened.
Blackwell hailed his 'terrific' reception on his return to Leeds and was proud about the way his Luton charges performed and shruged off the incident with Wise at the final whistle.
He said: "If you haven't got passion for the game you shouldn't be in it.
"I think everyone was looking forward to it. We weren't sitting back, we came to win.
"Many people thought we would sit back, but that's not our style, not with the players we have got."
"At the moment Leeds are riding on a crest of a wave and fair play to them."
But Blackwell was delighted with the reception he got from the Leeds fans and thinks their 15-point deduction has 'galvanised' the club.
He said: "They know what I did for the club and they carry themselves with dignity and passion.
"Sometimes you never get the praise at the time, but always in hindsight."
Blackwell may have dismissed the incident as Wise, and claimed it just added to the afternoon's entertainment, but the Leeds manager accused him of being bitter and revealed their heads did meet.
He said: "I don't think Kevin wanted to shake my hand. He told me in a nice kind of way to off.
"He was disappointed he had lost, because it was probably the biggest game of his career.
"I don't know what John Carver was about or why he needed to grab me round the neck.
"I didn't understand it, obviously emotions are very high for him.
"Unfortunately some people are bitter and I can't help them with their bitterness."

WISE AND BLACKWELL IN BUST-UP
Leeds boss Dennis Wise and opposite number Kevin Blackwell had a bust-up as United maintained their 100% league record with a deserved 1-0 victory.
With emotions running high on Blackwell's return to the club - where he was sacked last term - the duo clashed in the closing stages of the match, which was settled by Tresor Kandol's first-half winner.
The home side took the lead a minute before the break when the lively Jermaine Beckford whipped in an inviting cross and Kandol made no mistake with a 12-yard drive into the bottom corner of the net.
Luton, who were a shadow of the side that hammered Sunderland in the Carling Cup in midweek, started strongly after the interval and Paul Furlong headed over following Darren Currie's cross.
Leeds piled forward looking for a second and Beckford was denied the goal his performance deserved when David Forde produced an excellent save to tip his effort around the post.
Calvin Andrew then volleyed wide in the dying stages as Town looked for an equaliser, but Leeds held on to knock three more points off their pre-season deduction.

Old boy strikes to sink Hatters
Wise words at the final whistle leads to touchline scuffle

Coca-Cola League One
Leeds United 1 (1) Luton Town 0 (0)

Old boy Tresor Kandol came back to haunt the Hatters with the winner on the stroke of half-time at Elland Road today (Saturday, September 1).

The result was harsh on Luton, who put in a dogged and determined performance infront of a partisan Leeds crowds, still seething from the 15-point deduction.
Blackwell made three changes to the side that so comprehensively disposed of Sunderland in midweek, bringing in Darren Currie, David Edwards and Keith Keane in place of Dean Morgan, Steve Robinson and the injured Richard Jackson.
And Blackwell's return to his former club was almost soured straight away when Chris Perry appeared to trip Kandol in the area after Jermain Beckford had headed down for the former Hatter, but the referee waved away Leeds' appeals for a penalty and Luton were able to clear their lines.
Alan Thompson then shot wide and Kandol fired straight at David Forde as the hosts took a stranglehold on the opening stages of the game.
Luton though, gradually worked their way back into the game and, after a great turn and run down the right, Drew Talbot pulled his cross behind his teammates waiting in the box.
David Edwards' great pass released David Bell down the left on 19 minutes and, with Alan Goodall overlapping down the left, the classy winger decided to go it along but skewed his shot wide from the edge of the box.
Second late Casper Ankergren spilled Darren Curries cross at the feet of Bell, but the midfielder was unable to punish Ankergren's mistake.
Leeds should have opened the scoring on 28 minutes when Kandol seized on a rare Chris Coyne mistake. Coyne headed straight at Kandol, who controlled the ball and played an inviting chip down the middle. Beckford beat Keane inside the box, but rolled his shot wide with just Forde to beat.
The Hatters came storming back and, although Paul Furlong's 31st-minute freekick was blocked on the edge of the area, he rolled the ball wide for Goodall whose daisycutter just went wide of the far post.
However, with first half minutes ticking away Leeds took full advantage of Goodall's wayward pass to Matt Spring and swpet forward. The lively Seb Carole cut in from the left, beat Keith Keane, and slipped the ball through to Kandol on the six-yard box, who swept the ball home first time.
Luton refused to buckle after the break and enjoyed plenty of possession without creating too many clear cut chances.
The Hatters looked to have equalised on 51 minutes when Currie's curled cross found Furlong at the far post, bustled past the defender and shot into the bottom corner, but the referee ruled his effort out for pulling.
A Keane error allowed Kandol in on 55 minutes, but the Luton reject fired into the side netting.
Bell and Talbot then combined down the left, and the winger cut inside and unleashed a fearsome shot that fizzed just over the bar.
Forde then saved well from Beckford as Luton pushed forward in search of an equaliser, and Blackwell gambled, first throwing on Morgan and then introducing fresh legs up front in the form of Paul McVeigh and Calvin Andrew. Sadly they failed to produced the added punch and impetus desired.
The Hatters came closest to finding an equalise with 20 minutes left. Goodall's long throw found Furlong in the box and, although the striker's effort was blocked Edwards fired the rebound straight at Ankergren.
At the other end Alan Thompson stroked a freekick just wide and Kandol's flick header drifted just wide, and although the Hatters threatened with a series of dangerous corners and freekicks with 12 minutes left they just could not find a way through.
To add insult to injury, Blackwell's return to Elland Road seem to end on a sour note, when coaching staff from both sides clashed on the touchline at the final whistle.

Said Entertaining game.

Kevin didnt wanna shake his hand, told wise to fcuk off and a few handbags.

haha Wise said this game was the biggest game of Blackwells career so thats why he was sad.

He said he didnt know why Carver was putting his hands round wises neck.

Luton didnt shake ppls hands, wise says it makes our victory sweeter.

Pleased with a clean sheet. Nice to see one of his signings score today.

Says hes chuffed. But a long way to go, we need to keep performing and not let standards slip.

Says we deserved win today.

Alan Martin so was pleased to get him in. Says all the new players are young.

Da Costa left winger and can play in middle, lot of ability.

Pleased to get Huntington. Newcastle fans are unhappy we got him.

Wants to look for younger up and coming players.

Looking for a striker on loan. Leon and Flo out for longer than expected. He doesnt want to oput too much pressure on Ameobi.

Thommo has done his groin in. So taken off as a precaution.

Pleased fans are turning up in numbers which is pleasing.

Says the club still needs the fans. Clean sheet one of the most pleasing aspects today.

Kandol and Becks frightening up front and electric.

Says Blackie is bitter. And says one day maybe he will find out why hes so bitter.

Enjoy you sick bastard:)

And I like.
