Avenue take on United for charity
Bradford Park Avenue are hosting a former players charity match against Leeds United on Sunday, October 21 at Horsfall Stadium (2pm).
The game is part of Avenue's centenary celebrations, with most of the proceeds going towards the Jude Barker appeal.
Jude is a four-year-old boy from Great Horton who has severe autism. His mum Jemma is trying to raise £10,000 to take her son to the United States for specialist treatment.
United's former players' charity is the kidney dialysis unit at Leeds General Infirmary.
Avenue community development manager Mick Couzens (07881-716217) has organised the event with former Leeds defender Brendan Ormsby.
Former Avenue player and assistant manager Clive Freeman has agreed to co-ordinate the host team.
Couzens said: "I organised a similar match against Bradford City last year and it was a complete success. Jemma is a lovely person and deserves all the help we can give her."
Avenue chairman John Dean added: "This is a very worthy cause and I hope many followers of Bradford and Leeds attend the match to help Jemma reach her target. It's going to be a great day and one not to miss."
