Kjentfolk!

Kamp 1/12:

Huddersfield  3  Jevons 53,62 Beckett 85
Grimsby  0   (HT 0 - 0)
Att: 6729

Jevons' double mauls Mariners
On-loan ex-Grimsby striker Phil Jevons scored twice against his old club as Huddersfield cruised into the FA Cup third round with a 3-0 win.

Jevons: Foiled his former club

Jevons lashed in the opener from close-range on 53 minutes and grabbed his second goal ten minutes later.
And the result was put beyond a doubt five minutes from time when substitute Luke Beckett fired home.
Mariner's keeper Gary Montgomery had earlier kept Alan Buckley's men in the contest with a string of fine saves, twice denying Kamara from long-range in the first-half and also saving at the feet of Frank Sinclair.
But he was powerless to prevent Jevons opening the scoring after Grimsby failed to clear a corner and tapping the second into the empty net when Malvin Kamara's cross caught the Mariner's defence napping.
Grimsby were nearly back in it soon after when Danny North's header from Andy Taylor's cross was clawed off the line by Town keeper Matt Glennon, but Beckett netted the third after Danny Cadamarteri's shot had come back off a post.

Huddersfield: 27 Glennon, 13 Sinclair, 5 Mirfin, 24 Wallwork, 6 Clarke N, 3 Skarz, 2 Holdsworth, 15 Kamara ***, 23 Booth ** , 10 Jevons *, 11 Schofield
On The Bench: 28 Smithies, 20 Williams, 18 Beckett ** (81), 24 Cadamarteri * (74), 4 Collins *** (86)

Ritchie hails 'comfortable' win

Huddersfield manager Andy Ritchie praised his side after they demolished League Two outfit Grimsby 3-0 to reach the FA Cup third round.
On-loan ex-Grimsby striker Phil Jevons scored twice against his old club in the second half before Luke Beckett added a third.
The win was especially sweet for Ritchie, whose side were beaten 4-1 by Grimsby in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy in September. And, having exacted revenge on the Mariners, the Terriers chief is now desperate for a Cup run.
"I thought we were comfortable from start to finish," said Ritchie.
"I'd rather not get Manchester United in the third round - I want a Cup run.
"Being in the third round a draw means a tie with a Premiership side is a possibility. And, joking aside, it would be great to play a club from that division and test ourselves against some really top professionals."

Beckford boost for Leeds

In-form striker should be passed fit for weekend
Jermaine Beckford should be able to hand Leeds a fitness boost ahead of Saturday's clash with Huddersfield.
A keenly awaited Yorkshire derby pits promotion chasing Leeds with Andy Ritchie's in-form Town side.
Leeds' top goalscorer Beckford scored but limped out of United's 3-0 defeat of Port Vale on Tuesday night but coach John Gannon has reassured the club's supporters that the in-form striker should be fit to play his part at the weekend.
"Jermaine got a whack on the shin, but I don't think it's too bad," Gannon told the club's official website.
"He thinks he will be okay for the weekend."

Keeper Matthew Glennon og Frank Sinclair utvist for Hudds..... :o :)

.... In League One, Huddersfield rested Bristol City loan signing and FA Cup hero Phil Jevons to the bench as Danny Cadamarteri returned up front against Southend at Roots Hall but it all went terribly wrong for Andy Ritchie's side.
Town were stunned as midfield man Nick Bailey hit his sixth goal of the season in the third minute for the hosts, who went in at the break 1-0 up but then turned on the style after the break.
Bailey's fellow midfield man Alan McCormack made it 2-0 in the 57th minute for the play-off chasers.
Huddersfield hit back 10 minutes later through flank player Danny Schofield but then had goalkeeper Matt Glennon sent off for a professional foul in the 75th minute.
The extra man started to count in the latter stages as first Gower scored a third in the 84th minute and then McCormack added a fourth in added on time.
To add insult to injury, defender Frank Sinclair was then red carded to cap a terrible evening for the Terriers.

Flaks for oss.

Jon Worthington

Huddersfield Town captain Jon Worthington is ready to answer the call of a club in disarray ahead of Saturday's West Yorkshire derby at Elland Road.
The combative midfielder is nearing the end of a four-month struggle to overcome a hernia, and he will offer his services to Andy Ritchie this weekend after Huddersfield were routed 4-1 by Southend United last night.
Town's heavy defeat in Essex came at a high price as second-half red cards for goalkeeper Matt Glennon and full-back Frank Sinclair compounded a demoralising evening for Ritchie's players.
The club were expected to appeal against Glennon's dismissal today, a move which could prevent his suspension and solve one major concern for Ritchie before Saturday's clash with Leeds United.
But the Huddersfield boss may be tempted to add bite to his midfield by recalling his influential captain at Elland Road.
Worthington's sense of timing has proved expensive before, and he missed Huddersfield's last high-profile fixture when suspension forced him to sit out of Town's FA Cup third-round tie at Chelsea in 2005.
But the 24-year-old travelled to Germany for specialist treatment on his hernia in October, calling on the expertise of the same surgeon who has previously assisted England international Michael Owen, and he is in contention to return for Huddersfield's first league meeting with Leeds for two decades.
Worthington remained in Yorkshire for an additional training session while Town were preparing for yesterday's clash with Southend, but the midfielder said: "I'm fully fit now. The manager will have his plans, but if he decides to use me then I'm ready to step in.
"It's guaranteed to be blood and thunder against Leeds, but I'm happy with my fitness and I wouldn't feel worried about being in the thick of it. In fact, I'd absolutely love it.
"I haven't played much part this season but this would be a great game to come back for. It goes without saying that everybody wants to be involved.
"I missed the cup tie at Chelsea through suspension and it would be pretty frustrating if I wasn't able to play against Leeds, but the manager knows best and I'll accept his decision either way."
Huddersfield's defeat at Roots Hall was a continuation of a poor away record which has dragged the club into the lower regions of League One, six points behind Leeds.
Ritchie's side have lost six of their nine fixtures outside the Galpharm Stadium, and they will face up to the division's only unbeaten home record at Elland Road on Saturday.
The remainder of Huddersfield's allocation of 1,700 tickets was sold yesterday, and United are anticipating a crowd of over 30,000 for the second time this season.
The atmosphere will be a far cry from the attendance of 6,844 witnessed in Essex last night.
Huddersfield have not visited Elland Road for a league fixture since 1987, but Worthington was among the players who featured for Town during a League Cup first round tie at Leeds three years ago. A turn-out of more than 30,000 on that particular evening will prepare him in part for the heated reception that Ritchie's players will receive this weekend.
"I've played there before, and I know what to expect," said Worthington.
"The atmosphere should be superb. Leeds have been in great form all the way through this season and they've given themselves a great chance of promotion.
"If I'm being honest, I thought their 15-point deduction would be a difficult psychological hurdle to overcome, but it hasn't bothered them. If anything, it's brough the best out of the squad that Dennis Wise has there.
"But I don't think we should worry about coping with the atmosphere. Some of the lads here have played at Chelsea and at the Millennium Stadium in the play-offs as well.
"Those were big events which came with a lot of pressure. We handled them fine.
"There's a bit of a misconception that we're a very young set of players, and quite inexperienced. In actual fact, the likes of myself have played well over 100 games.
"I played at Elland Road three years ago in front of a crowd of 30,000 so I know what to expect."
Worthington has made just four outings for Huddersfield this season, his last against Carlisle on August 25, but he has a crucial part of Town's machine for five seasons.
Named club captain by Peter Jackson at the age of 21, Town's former trainee has been a long-standing lynchpin in Huddersfield's midfield, and the type of reliable performer that Ritchie might wish for at a stadium where only one club – Leyton Orient – have earned any reward this season.
Worthington said: "I've been at Huddersfield since the age of nine. This is an important game for me, and for a lot of people.
"I live in between Leeds and Huddersfield so I've got fans of both clubs round about me. There are a few Bradford supporters as well. Some of the them are going to be unhappy one way or another on Saturday, but I'm sure I'll still get a few Christmas cards."

Wise demands professional job

Leeds boss wants players focussed on the points
Leeds United manager Dennis Wise does not want his side to be distracted by the occasion against Huddersfield Town this weekend.
The Whites take on their West Yorkshire neighbours at Elland Road nearly 20 years to the day since their last league encounter.
Saturday's early kick-off has been eagerly anticipated by both sets of supporters, although Wise wants his players to focus on the task at hand.
"I understand how important it is for the fans and the importance of the game," he told Sky Sports News.
"We need to go out there in a professional manner and win the game."
Huddersfield's fans have been unhappy at the club's meagre 1,700 ticket allocation, although Wise is not concerning himself with the issue.
"Not my problem. Sling them [the away fans] in the corner out of the way," he continued.
"We don't want them behind our goal. It's up to the home team where they put the fans.
"We're pleased with [the fans] we're getting at the moment. I don't think anyone expected the number of fans we've had this year."

Kødder du? Imponerende, men hvorfor åpner de ikke øvre del?

2-0 hjemmeseier.
Marching on together!

Leeds v Huddersfield sold out

The last remaining tickets for Saturday's derby match between Leeds United and Huddersfield Town have been snapped up.
More than 32,400 fans will fill Elland Road for the first time in years for the 12.15pm kick off on Saturday - albeit with a reduced capacity as the top tier of the East Stand is closed.
