The Sunday mirror. Carver sier at han blir sparket...
United's caretaker boss John Carver, who took over from the sacked Kevin Blackwell, was so dismayed at this spineless performance he couldn't face the media.
And after four defeats in five games under his guidance Carver gave the biggest hint that when he does eventually make contact with Bates, his resignation could be top of their agenda.
Asked if he might resign before Tuesday's Carling Cup tie with Southend at Elland Road, Carver said: "It doesn't take a rocket scientist to work it out."
And the depths Leeds have slumped to - just one place off the bottom of the Championship - were summed up by Luton boss Mick Newell, who said: "I always felt we could beat them. If we got one goal I thought we might get two or three - but not five. It's a long time since Luton have beaten a great club like Leeds 5-1!
"But with all the changes they have made there, with coaching staff, playing staff and in the boardroom, it's impossible to get any consistency in a football club."
