Leeds United 2 Rotherham United 0: YEP player ratings10:40 Sunday 10 January 2016
YEP writer Phil Hay provides his Leeds United player ratings on the back of the 2-0 FA Cup win against Rotherham United. Do you agree with this choices?
Marco Silvestri
Kept his errors to an absolute minimum and that helped to keep Rotherham in check. Was never seriously tested. 7/10
Lewie Coyle
A terrific full debut. Not only did he look comfortably but his body movement, his style, looked like that of a very natural full-back. 7/10
Giuseppe Bellusci
A top performance from a centre-back who has to be in consideration for tomorrow’s game at Ipswich. Leeds’ best player. 8/10
Liam Cooper
Not quite as steady as Bellusci but after a tough half-hour, United’s defence began to grind Rotherham’s attack down. 7/10
Charlie Taylor
A little quiet by his standards but did produce a cleverly disguised cut-back to give Carayol his chance to score. 6/10
Sam Byram
Came into the game in the second half and would have found the net but for a fine saving tackle. Continuing to show good form. 7/10
Liam Bridcutt
Strangely enough, Leeds were better when he advanced more. It still appears that five in midfield suits United better though. 7/10
Luke Murphy
As with many of his performances, a match where he was reliable enough but never quite able to dictate play. 6/10
Mustapha Carayol
Great start for United’s new signing. Some nice touches and a screaming finish which Lee Camp couldn’t match. 8/10
Souleymane Doukara
God knows how many times he was ruled offside and it looked like being one of those afternoons, but took his goal. 6/10
Mirco Antenucci
Frustrating for him. Hasn’t been in the team recently and would have liked to have taken the chance to shine. A bit peripheral. 5/10
Substitutes:
Stuart Dallas (for Carayol, 74) - Unlucky to see his late shot come back off the bar but good to think that he’ll be fresh at Ipswich. 6/10
Sol Bamba (for Bellusci, 79) - Bellusci was suffering from cramp at that stage but Bamba came on and saw the win out safely. 6/10
Lewis Cook (for Murphy, 88) - Evidently talk of a move to Bournemouth is rather premature. Doukara killed the tie within moments of him arriving. 5/10
Subs (not used): Bailey Peacock-Farrell, Scott Wootton, Kalvin Phillips, Tommaso Bianchi.
