Could you shed any light on why Gary Macallister keeps playing Tresor Kandol up front when we have Leon Constantine and Anthony Elding available for that position? In my opinion they both have a natural eye for goal, possess more guile and positional awareness than Kandol. Kandol is bigger and stronger than both the afore mentioned players but any attack that features him in the lead up play seems to break down when he is included. He can't stay on side, he persistently has fouls given against him or his first touch is poor or he falls over.
I believe we need to drop him if we are going to get out of this league this year, I know he is a confidence player but we can't afford to gamble with our promotion chances waiting for him to regain his earlier form.
Do you see anything different to me ?
McAllister's first choice pairing is Dougie Freedman and Jermaine Beckford, with Kandol as first choice substitute.
After being in the job for a month or so, McAllister trimmed his squad down to 18 or 19 players because he felt it was far too big. Constantine was one of those who went as part of the cull, along with Ian Westlake and Matt Heath. Constantine is back now but McAllister, rightly or wrongly, clearly wants to stick with Kandol as his back-up option - and results have improved markedly since he reduced the first team squad to more manageable numbers.
Kandol does come in for criticism but it was his shot that led to the second goal against Carlisle last week when Jonny Howson followed in his saved shot.
