Det var særlig sterkt av Leeds United å vinne på hjemmebanen til et av lagene som er favoritter, i sesongens første seriekamp. Dette smakte! Og det er også bra at spissene har kommet raskt i gang med scoringer.

Eddie utnemnde vel Snoddy til MOM. I første og nokre tilfelle i andre spelte Ankergren ei sentral rolle. Sentrallinja med Huntington, Howson og Beckford var også viktige.

Utan at eg veit noko, så trur eg faktisk Telfer vart prioritert foran Michalik mtp. veteranens allsidigheit (både stoggar- og backalternativ). Marques gjorde seg bort på 0-1-skåringa, men eg forventar at han startar neste (serie-)kamp. Vi kan ikkje kaste ut folk pga éi tabbe så tidleg i sesongen. Viktig at Macca viser spelarane tillit og er nokonlunde lojal mot sin førsteellever.

Casper - 7 - comfortable, couple of decent saves, don't think he dropped owt and kicking was fine
Frazer - 5 - oh dear, constantly gave ball away, especially in 1st half, crap clearances, poor decision making like when he should have just knocked the ball out for a throw in 2nd half but instead f**ked up... casper to the rescue. when Robinson got subbed Prutton held out his hand to say well done... Frazer just stood there, head down. got forward well at times but launched ball into the stand when a simple cross would have done. No captain, I think Macca has made a mistake.
Hunts - 6 - not at his best, some dodgy moments, just needs a few games
Rui - 6 - a bit dodgy as well TBH but did ok
Sheehan - 7.5 - linked up well with Robinson, defended well, some decent crosses, got forward. Keep it up!
Snodgrass - 7.5 - MOTM - at last someone who runs at the opposition and delivers a decent cross. always a threat, an assist, his dead balls are v good. looks like a v good signing.
Prutton - 7 - worked hard, made tackles all over the pitch and kept it simple. when the ball was cleared by scunny at corners etc Prutton brought it down and got it wide to keep the pressure on. got forward well, great strike that led to Becks goal. Douglas who?
Howson - 7 - good first half and unlucky not to score from a move he started with a great tackle on edge of our box. still needs to get involved more but an improvement on last season
Robinson - 6 - lose some weight, looked unfit but hopefully that will come in next few weeks, didn't get ball in first half. 2nd half he was a different player, great freekick, always a threat. much more to see from this lad when he gets rid of that belly
Enoch - 7.5 - worked really hard, great defensive headers, held the ball up well. he knows what to do when he brings it down unlike Kandol. Looks for a good pass. only problem is he's happy heading crosses but not goal kicks or long balls... odd. hopefully the goal will give him some confidence
Beckford - 7 - came into game in 2nd half (as did all our players), looked dangerous when running at them and great finish for winning goal

SUBS
Hughes - 5 - no time
Becchio - 7 - great strike from distance, comfortable on the ball and wins headers. much more to see

Macca - 6 - poor first half performance, the midfield was bypassed... HOOF. 2nd half we started badly but as soon as they scored we came alive, he's signed wingers who cause fullbacks problems and deliver good balls, something we've missed in recent years. we started to pass the ball and Snodgrass and Robinson got involved.

Overall - a great result, an average performance for 1st 60mins. If we want to go up we are gonna have to finish teams off. Today we were dreadful till we went behind and you can't do that every week. the wingers will make the biggest difference this season, plus we have an energetic CM in Prutton who makes good decisions and could form an excellent partnership with Howson or Kilkenny.

Startet denne sesongen på samme måte som ifjor. Låg da under 0-1 for Tranmere, kom tilbake og vant kampen 2-1. Etter det ble det 6 strake. La oss håpe det samme skjer nå..

He might not be good enough in the league above. But the fact is he's certainly good enough for this division. I wouldn't have another league one right back ahead of him, and i think Gardner would get similar complaints.

Richardson - 5 - Poor decision to make him captain imo. as said, just doesn't get any better. our only real liability today.

in the 1st half all our play started down the right and Frazer constantly gave it away and it put us under pressure when we should have been putting pressure on them. In the 2nd half we went down the left and we kept the ball and began to get a grip of the game.

This is the problem... players like Frazer and Douglas give the ball away so much that you end up camped in your own box, you struggle to get out. If you have better players then a couple off decent passes and it's you who's attacking.

I take it you were at the game!!?? Frazer's consistently poor distribution and poor positional play undermine what is otherwise a very good defence. He gets forward ok but rarely produces a good cross. Everybody bar him could look back on today with some satisfaction, though only Hunts, Rui and Sheehan in relation to the whole game. Howson and Prutton need to maintain a consistently high level of energy if we are to be able to make the most of Snodgrass (brilliant) and Robinson. Enoch is a signficant improvement on Kandol, Constantine and Elding and, when fit, Becchio, will be even better.

Frazer was SHOCKING. Hoofball every time, made 2 passes to feet the entire game, zero leadership from a "captain". I would have given him a rating of 4 at best.

Frazer - 6 - I can only imagine Macca picked him for captaincy a) because of his service to the club and b) hoping it may inspire some mature and consistent performaces from him. Had a few shaky moments but far from his worst, hopefully he can improve as the year goes on.

Robinson was man of the match for me, I'm sick of people saying he needs to lose weight, he runs faster than most of the players on the pitch regardless of his build, looked more than comfortable on the left side of midfield, good skill and vision - will be a good player this season.

Only other point I would disagree with the OP is that Robinson I would rate as a 7, may need to lose weight, but SO comfortable on the ball, brings other players into the game with passes to FEET and intelligent runs.

Overall - fair play to Scunny, they gave it to us for a while but when we switched it on the second half they couldn't live with us, if we can perfect that style over 90 minutes we're gonna absolutely piss this division

I see a Beckford-Becchio partnership as first choice, but Enoch on the bench when we need to mix it up a bit, rough effective defenders up. I think that's about perfect.

We should be excited about this season, Snodgrass and Robinson give us the width that we've craved for so long. Altugh Snodgrass wasn't superb he showed enough to suggest that he's going to be a real prospect and he's definitely a winger not a striker.

Completely agree. I hate to be too optimistic, just doesn't come naturally as a Leeds fan, but we've a better team than last year and ought to walk it.

...ja, herlig at 'gjentakelse' er kan være et språklig virkemiddel


...men for å gå litt videre på 'waccoe-materialet' (og gå Kato litt i næringen) så virker det som vi har fått kantspillere å bruke denne sesongen.
Men et varsko må ropes, de virker ikke allverden kjappe så det vil nok være kamper der motstanderne har bra kontroll med de. Robinson virker vel også å slite litt m vekta...

V.backen slipper vi vel å tenke så allverden på i år. Fokuset blir nok mer over til høyre...
Fraz har vel allerede fått publikum imot seg. Ikke bra for en kaptein... (vil han 'vare lenge'???) Vil f.eks. en absent Kilkenny kunne tenkes overta...

Har Anker 'utviklet seg'? Virker 'mer allsidig' etter rapportene...

Både på midtstopper & spissplass virker vi å ha bra med alternativer. På sentral midt også...
