Kamp 12/12:
Brighton - Milton Keynes Dons  2-4 (1-1)

FOUR-STAR DONS BATTER BRIGHTON
MK Dons climbed up to second in League One with a convincing 4-2 victory to leave struggling Brighton without a league win in five games.
Bradley Johnson, on loan from Leeds, gave the Seagulls a dream start in only the third minute with a superb finish following a free-kick by Glenn Murray.
But Spaniard Miguel Angel Llera deservedly levelled in the 27th minute by turning in a corner from Jason Puncheon.
Aaron Wilbraham was denied by the post before the break, but Jemal Johnson drove Dons ahead just a minute after the restart.
Scotsman Peter Leven made the game safe with 20 minutes remaining by pouncing on slack defensive play by Tommy Elphick to slot home from six yards.
Substitute Stuart Fleetwood struck from long range with two minutes remaining to give Brighton hope, but Puncheon's superb 89th-minute solo effort sealed the Dons' sixth win in their last seven away league games.

BOSS EYES PLAY-OFFS AFTER DONS' WIN
MK Dons manager Roberto Di Matteo has his sights set on reaching the play-offs after his side's 4-2 victory at Brighton & Hove Albion.
The triumph was MK Dons' sixth win in their last seven away league games and took the Dons up to second in the table.
Di Matteo was delighted with the players' response following last Saturday's 2-0 defeat at home to Scunthorpe.
He said: "We set ourselves a target at the start of the season to reach the play-offs and if we do that it will be a great result for the club.
"We didn't play well against Scunthorpe but this was a good performance. The players showed a great reaction."
Di Matteo believes the convincing win at Brighton is the perfect way for his men to go into their home clash against Leeds next Saturday.
He enthused: "It will be a terrific challenge. The whole team has been playing quite well lately so facing Leeds will be a good test and hopefully we will keep it going."

Di Matteo: Bring on Leeds!

Milton Keynes Dons immediately bounced back from a home defeat last weekend, to hammer a beleaguered Brighton side on Friday night and leave Dons boss Roberto Di Matteo looking forward to what's ahead next...
Milton Keynes Dons recovered brilliantly on Friday evening, following a home defeat the weekend before against Scunthorpe, to recover from a goal down at Brighton and triumph 2-4 at the Withdean Stadium.
The win was the perfect recovery from the disappointment suffered at Stadium MK six days previous, that saw the Dons relinquish a six game winning streak that had carried Di Matteo's into the automatic promotion places.
But, Friday evening saw the Dons battle back admirably to hammer Brighton and the Dons boss was delighted to state - "We set ourselves a target at the start of the season to reach the play-offs and if we do that it will be a great result for the club."
Before looking ahead to the next match with - "We didn't play well against Scunthorpe but this was a good performance. The players showed a great reaction. It will be a terrific challenge. The whole team has been playing quite well lately so facing Leeds will be a good test and hopefully we will keep it going."

Ken Bates set to make Dons trip

LONDON CALLING?

Ken Bates looks set to make a rare away appearance at Saturday's League One clash between Leeds United and MK Dons.
United's 77-year-old chairman is understood to be considering turning out for the club's first ever visit to Stadium:mk, joining more than 4,000 Leeds fans who will support Gary McAllister's side through their meeting with last season's League Two champions.
Bates, who lives in Monaco and can spend no more than 90 days a year in England for tax reasons, is regularly seen at United's home fixtures, but he has attended few of their away games during almost four years as chairman of Leeds and would be a surprise guest in Milton Keynes this weekend.
MK Dons manager Roberto Di Matteo is a friend of Bates, who sanctioned the Italian's transfer from Lazio to Chelsea while chairman at Stamford Bridge in 1996, and Saturday's match would give Bates a valuable chance to assess his own team after their recent run of four matches without a win.
It is believed, however, that his visit to Stadium:mk was planned several weeks ago, prior to United's loss of form.
Leeds' clash with MK Dons is the first of three successive games against rivals for promotion from League One and a chance for McAllister's players to revive their chances of a top-two finish against Di Matteo's in-form side. United are 10 points off second place, while MK Dons, who have won seven of their last eight league matches, sit eight points above McAllister's team with the halfway point of the season approaching.
MK Dons are anticipating Bates' arrival. A spokesman for the club said: "We're aware that there's a strong possibility of him coming here on Saturday.
"We've got standard procedures for visiting directors and he'd be made very welcome."
Bates was present at both of United's play-off final appearances, in 2006 and earlier this year, but he has limited himself in the main to home matches. (...)

...... Club captain Frazer Richardson, meanwhile, is hoping to be fit for Saturday's visit to Milton Keynes after shaking off the dead leg which forced him to miss last weekend's 2-1 defeat to Colchester United.
Richardson was expected to join in with full training today and McAllister confirmed: "He's a lot better.
"He's been working with our physio (Harvey Sharman) and I'm hopeful that he'll be available for Saturday."

MK Dons  Trivia

Lorimer: We have to get back on track quickly

Talk Soccer:
Peter Lorimer

THE aftermath of last weekend's defeat to Colchester United is the most deflated I can remember feeling after a match involving Leeds United.
The club have had difficult times before and no doubt I have experienced worse days, but I really struggled to take any positives from that result. Everything about the game and the day in general was totally flat.
Colchester battled hard and did ADVERTISEMENT not give an inch, but they weren't a good side by any stretch of the imagination â€" not a team who have a realistic chance of influencing the promotion picture in League One.
Leeds don't have the right to turn up and expect to collect three points against anyone, but Colchester are an outfit we should be beating and have to be beating.
In my opinion, the same goes for Tranmere Rovers and Northampton, two other clubs we have lost to recently.
The honest appraisal of Leeds last weekend is that they looked like a mediocre team. That has been true for a few weeks now and their confidence is obviously low. There wasn't the same spark or the same enthusiasm that we saw earlier in the season and that worries me.
We're all expecting a couple of new signings to arrive in January, and Gary McAllister is right to freshen up the squad, but that can't be used to excuse the form we've seen during the past month.
Everyone realised that December was going to be crucial and the transfer window is irrelevant until we get there.
Tomorrow's game is absolutely massive, and the same goes for the matches against Leicester City and Stockport County, both of which will come before January 1.
Despite the 10-point gap between ourselves and second place, I don't believe the automatic promotion has gone. There are 26 matches left to play and anyone who thinks the table has been decided already is crazy.
MK Dons are a good example to Leeds because they've won seven of their last eight league matches and have put a fantastic run of form together. Any team which achieves that can expect to be in or around the top two, and United need to do exactly the same.
The problem is that talking about going on a run is very different to actually starting one. We've all been saying for a while that Leeds need to string results together, but talk is cheap.
It feels like a long time since our last league win and we can't afford to go without another this weekend. Although I still believe that the top two is within reach, that could easily change if results don't improve in our next three matches.
When I look at United's league position, it amazes me. I really didn't see this slump coming a month ago. My confidence in this squad remains as high as it was, because I do think we've got a lot of good, talented players â€" but it's the table that counts more than anything else.
It's so often the case that when it rains, it pours, and there's no doubt the team is missing Jermaine Beckford.
His pace along with the power of Luciano Becchio is a very effective combination and the sooner he returns from his hamstring injury the better.
But it's the other players who have the responsibility to sort this out â€" to get their heads up, get their chins off the floor and prove to everyone that they are the team we thought they were before the season started.
This situation needs to change and it needs to change now.

MK Dons v Leeds
COCA COLA LEAGUE ONE
Venue: Stadium MK Date: Saturday, 20 December Kick-off: 1500 GMT

French defender Mansour Assoumani is set to make his Leeds United debut after signing a one-month contract.
Striker Malcolm Christie is a doubt, but Fraser Richardson hopes to have recovered from a dead leg.

MK Dons manager Roberto Di Matteo told BBC Three Counties Radio:
"The supporters are looking forward to this game, they are very excited about it. There should be a good atmosphere as well and we are prepared for it.
"They [Leeds] are a very talented side, so hopefully they will try and be positive and try to win the game. It should make for a good game."

Leeds United manager Gary McAllister told BBC Radio Leeds:
"It's a crucial game - the next three are. This fixture and the Boxing Day fixture is a great opportunity to reel these teams back in a bit.
"They're a very direct team and we're aware of their strengths so we've got to go there and compete, we've got to match them and then we've got to push our tactic, ethos and style onto them."

BBC
