http://www.givemefootball.com/league-one/leeds-boss-brushes-aside-burnley-rumoursHuddersfield boss Lee Clark and former Sheffield Wednesday manager Brian Laws have emerged as favourites for the Burnley job after Simon Grayson ruled himself out of the race. Burnley look set to follow their previous policy of appointing young managers – Steve Cotterill and Owen Coyle, for example – and Grayson would have fit the bill.
But the 40-year-old, who has steered Leeds to the top of the table and to the brink of promotion has issued a ‘thanks, but no thanks’ message.
United’s FA Cup victory over Manchester United further raised awareness of the excellent job Grayson is going at Elland Road – and his own personal stock rose as a result.
But he has distanced himself from the vacant hot seat at Turf Moor, and says: “I have only been here a year and it took a lot for me to leave Blackpool. I had a good job there.
"This was a fantastic opportunity and I have said all along that someone will take this club back into the top flight. Hopefully, that will be me."
Grayson admits that the club's passionate following has a large part to play in the fact that Leeds haven’t lost at home for a year.
He added: “I am an ambitious manager but this is an ambitious football club. You saw the passion of our fans at Old Trafford last week and then how we got 25,000 in on a bitterly cold day like Saturday (against Wycombe).
"I am fully focused on achieving my target of getting this club promoted into the Championship and beyond. People can speculate with Burnley or whatever club they want but I am committed to trying to take this club forward.â€
