Johnson expects short stay for Trundle
Bristol City boss Gary Johnson expects Lee Trundle's stay at Leeds United to be a short one, stating his one month loan will be benefit everyone involved.
Striker Trundle, 32, is in line to make his debut at home to Carlisle United tomorrow having joined from Ashton Gate until February 9.
The striker will be available for seven games during that period after which Johnson expects to have his front-man back fighting for his place at the Robins.
"It's a good move for him for a month, at a good level, and we'll how it goes," he said.
"It will work out for all parties as Lee gets games, Leeds get a new striker and we get a player back in a month's time a lot F***er."
Trundle shot to fame at Swansea City where he scored 86 goals in four seasons.
The Liverpudlian then made a £1 switch to Ashton Gate in the summer of 2007 but while Trundle ended 2007-08 with a flurry and two goals in his final four appearances, this season has been less fruitful.
The hitman has netted just two goals from 19 games this term – mainly used as a substitute - and now joins Elland Road to link back up with Andy Robinson who he played with at the Swans.
Trundle has been given the number 35 shirt and will almost certainly play some part this weekend with top scorer Jermaine Beckford suffering from a hamstring injury.
Leeds boss Simon Grayson is delighted with Trundle's capture, his first signing as Whites boss.
"Lee is a proven goalscorer," said Grayson.
"He brings something a bit different, and he has a great track record.
"It's good competition for places and he is a good acquisition to the squad."
Trundle was a late entry into professional and league football, playing for non-league teams Burscough, Stalybridge Celtic, Southport, Bamber Bridge and Chorley before joining Rhyl in 2000.
Wrexham then signed Trundle for £60,000 before his move to Swansea some two years later.
