Leste The Times på flyplassen igår.

ESPN-Soccernet - 11.plass

http://soccernet.espn.go.com/columns/story/_/id/938886/championship-2011-12:-club-by-club?cc=5739

Key Man: Andy Lonergan - That Kasper Schmeichel excelled last year and Leeds still conceded more goals than 10 sides who finished beneath them shows the scale of the task for the new goalkeeper.

One to Watch:
Adam Clayton - A former Manchester City midfielder with a famous namesake, Clayton could benefit from the moves of Kilkenny and Johnson.

Tell me - I've got to know
Tell me - Tell me before I go
Does that flame still burn, does that fire still glow
Or has it died out and melted like the snow

Teamtalk!

Sitat
Championship top six: Leicester, Birmingham, Nottingham Forest, West Ham, Southampton, Ipswich.

Sven-Goran Eriksson's side quite rightly take their place as title favourites and I'm finding it hard to see past the Foxes given the excellent additions the club has made.

Birmingham have an immediate chance of bouncing back under Chris Hughton, with Steve McClaren's Forest unfortunate to be a position back in third.

A summer of turbulence should do little to hamper West Ham, with Kevin Nolan arguably the shrewdest signing of the season, while Southampton and Ipswich are my 'dark horses' to make up the top six.

As for my own Leeds, I can foresee a slow start which should eventually culminate in a frustrating mid-table finish. Hopefully I'm proved wrong though!

Championship bottom three: Peterborough, Barnsley, Doncaster.

Tricky to call, but I think Posh will miss Mackail-Smith massively, while Barnsley don't have the firepower and Donny look short all over the park.

Championship top-scorer: Michael Chopra (Ipswich).

Knows his way to goal and can fire Paul Jewell's side to a shock top-six finish.

First Championship manager to be sacked: Darren Ferguson (Peterborough).

Ferguson has fallen out with Posh chairman Darragh MacAnthony before so the odds on him coming a cropper again shouldn't be too great.
I scored 24 goals helping my side win promotion back to the Premier League aged just 22. Then in my first season in the top flight I had bagged an impressive 15 goals by the end of January. My form earned me an England call-up. Am I a £35m striker? No. I am Michael Ricketts, February 2002.

Marching on togheter - all the way to Premier League!

West Ham and Leeds rank high on top-flight pedigree, Leicester and Forest chasing

With a new campaign in the Football League set to start on Friday as Hull host Blackpool, the  season of guessing football league table outcomes is upon us. And according to a sportingintelligence ‘pedigree’ analysis of clubs in the Championship, history says West Ham are favourites to go up, with Leeds, Leicester and Nottingham Forest in the chasing pack.

At the other end of the table, we’d suggest that Peterborough and Doncaster could struggle, while Reading, Brighton, Millwall, Hull and Bristol City won’t be too far ahead of them. (See table at bottom of piece for full details).

If this feels in some way ‘right’, then it’s not because we’ve considered the relative merits of Big Sam at Upton Park or Simon Grayson at Elland Road, or the cash outlay at the King Power Stadium (that’s Leicester’s Thai-branded duty free-based home) or the nous of Steve ‘Schteve’ McClaren.

Rather we have considered how many post-war seasons (of 65) each club has spent at a higher level than the second tier (or Championship as it is now), and how many years lower, and what their pedigree is based on this simple measurement (number of years higher minus number of years lower).

The results are in the table below, with West Ham (45 years above minus no years below) on a pedigree of 45. Leeds (37 minus three) are on 34, followed by Leicester (32), Forest (30), Middlesbrough (29) and Birmingham (27).

Of course environmental factors can and will skew the picture as the season unfolds; financial ‘doping’ at Leicester will have an impact, for example, and economic chaos and possibly worse at Birmingham.

History would suggest that neither Peterborough nor Doncaster will go up: neither have ever played at a higher level than now. Four other clubs – Brighton, Millwall, Bristol City and Cardiff – have played at a higher level but never in the Premier League era (since 1992).

The other 18 clubs all have. West Ham have played in 16 of the 19 Premier League seasons while among the others, Middlesbrough have played in 14, Southampton 13, Leeds 12, Coventry nine and Leicester eight.

If one of the six clubs who’ve never tasted the Premier League are going to make it, perhaps it will finally be Cardiff, the highest ranked of those six on ‘pedigree’. But they have been playing at their current level without going up or down for nine years, a total beaten only by Coventry (11 straight seasons in the second tier) and Ipswich (10).

http://www.nettavisen.no/sportspill/tipping/article3201403.ece

11. Leeds

Mest spennende spillere: Michael Brown, Luciano Beccho, Andy O' Brien

LEEDS
If Leeds score 81 goals again this season, I think they'll go up because they look to have more solidity about them. They've signed the vastly-experienced Michael Brown who will shore things up in midfield; he's played at the top level with Tottenham and Portsmouth and can chip in with goals as well. Rearguard frailties cost Leeds a play-off spot last term but they will be boosted by the returns from injury of highly-rated left-back Ben Parker and Australian centre-half Patrick Kisnorbo - one of the best defenders in the Championship when fit. Having also kept attackers Max Gradel and Robert Snodgrass, the Whites should be a threat.
I scored 24 goals helping my side win promotion back to the Premier League aged just 22. Then in my first season in the top flight I had bagged an impressive 15 goals by the end of January. My form earned me an England call-up. Am I a £35m striker? No. I am Michael Ricketts, February 2002.

Top players my ass.
