Leeds are expected to make a second bid for Leicester City defender Lee Peltier next week after manager Neil Warnock confirmed his interest in signing the player.
The Leeds boss admitted Peltier was a transfer target of his as he looks to rebuild his side. He said he hoped to have a new right-back on board by the end of next week. Peltier is understood to be Warnock's preferred target.
"We've made enquiries about a few," he said. "There's three on the radar and Lee is one of them. So we'll see what happens.
"I'm sure we will pull a full-back in over the next week."
It is understood that both Leeds and Huddersfield have had bids of £600,000 rejected by City for the 25-year-old.
Peltier only joined City last summer from Huddersfield in a £750,000 deal.
The Terriers had thought they had agreed a deal to re-sign Peltier but their bid was rejected before City's recent Austrian training camp.
Reports from Huddersfield say the Terriers have now dropped out of the race after being told City wanted £850,000 for Peltier.
Peltier made 44 starts for City last season, 39 in the Championship, and City consider his value to have increased because of the experience, although the signing of Ritchie De Laet from Manchester United has put Peltier's starting position in doubt for this season.
But sources at Leeds still feel they can do a deal and Warnock now has funds following the sale of his most bankable commodity, midfielder Robert Snodgrass to Norwich.
