Hmmm. Kanskje like greit....

I scored 24 goals helping my side win promotion back to the Premier League aged just 22. Then in my first season in the top flight I had bagged an impressive 15 goals by the end of January. My form earned me an England call-up. Am I a £35m striker? No. I am Michael Ricketts, February 2002.

Helt riktig, auren.

"Another player who could be joining him on the way out of Elland Road is trialist Martin Cranie who has yet to be offered a contract and is still on the lookout for a club.

The 25-year-old defender has been a free agent after his deal at Coventry ran out at the end of last season and has featured in a number of pre-season games for the club this summer.

But his future at Leeds is in doubt after he declined to play for Warnock in their friendly match at Preston at the weekend over concerns he might get injured before holding another round of talks with the club.

"In fairness to him he can't afford to get injured in a game like that. I understood his reasoning," said Warnock. "It was his decision and I respected that.

"He didn't want to risk getting injured so close to the start of the season and I couldn't guarantee him a contract." "

Cranie’s prospects of securing a permanent move to Leeds United were in the balance today after the defender chose to sit out Saturday’s friendly against Preston North End.

Cranie took the decision to miss United’s 3-1 win at Deepdale with he and Leeds still to agree a contract and Cranie reluctant to gamble his fitness so close to the start of the Football League season.

The 25-year-old has been a free agent since leaving Coventry City at the end of last season and he has battled patiently for a deal with Leeds, featuring repeatedly in friendlies and taking part in both the club’s pre-season tour of Devon and Cornwall and their match against Sandefjord in Norway last week.

Manager Neil Warnock, who has described Cranie as a “squad player”, planned to use him for the sixth game running at Preston but said he had no argument with Cranie’s concern about sustaining an injury which would affect his chances of finding a club before the new season starts.

Warnock planned to hold further talks with Cranie yesterday and said: “In fairness to him he can’t afford to get injured in a game like that. I understood his reasoning.

“It was his decision and I respected that. He didn’t want to risk getting injured so close to the start of the season and I couldn’t guarantee him a contract.”

QuoteWhat was ACTUALLY said?

Quote'Looks like thats it now', 'we're thin on the ground, but we can't do alot about it at the moment' and 'i need at least 2 more players and we need to fund that really', you could tell in his voice he sounded angry and fed up, he knows he won't be getting any money from Bates, and yet again not a word about any Takeover. If we need to sell to get players in we're shafted as we don't have anyone to sell to generate any money, apart from McCormack...

Also tried to skate around the question about Cranie, looks like we've offered him a deal and Cranie is considering his options elsewhere by the sound of it, Warnock "understands his situation"
Was exactly what I thought. But of enthusiasm lost there from him.

QuoteAbout the squad being thin, hoping that we are lucky on injuries, thinks we have a good first 11 but maybe not much depth. Have to sell players to be able to bring any funds to bring anyone in. Said with the squad being very light we will need to rely on youngsters this season.

Bates programme notes and Harvey meeting with LUST on Saturday. I am now overeacring and starting to panic about the takeover.

Whilst we could do with getting Rachubka, Nunez and Paynter etc off the wage bill and maybe loaning out a couple of youngsters, it is a worry that with a supposed takeover looming and sales of Clayton, Lonergan and Snodgrass that he has no money at all left now.

QuoteHave to move on players to get those in. Only mentioned it's a striker we need (how the f**k they going to get the ball in the back of the net without any service :/) - As suspected, we've been operating on a sell to buy policy all summer (same as all the rest) so nothing's changed behind the scenes for the moment. Warnock sounded a bit fed up to be honest but he's a bit like a woman sometimes with his interviews isn't he. Happy, Sad, Happy, Sad.

QuoteAlso said flat out no to Sam Byram possibly challenging Peltier's position at right back, but then said Peltier can cover CB and LB so we may require Byram's versatility.

All in all, I took that interview as Warnock sounding thoroughly fed up that our squad is limited in goals and cover (quality too Neil).

QuoteI've been thinking this for a few days now, I think Becchio might be leaving. Don't have any source or ITK info, just a feeling, like all of Warnock's compliments about him were just trying to generate interest in him, as we'd get £1-2mil for him? paying for another striker or two? he's the last player we have worth anything really from the Grayson Era.

Don't think the takeover is going to happen before the end of the transfer window, Bates's last act to piss us all off.
