Experienced Hellas Verona striker Daniele Cacia has been touted with a potential move to Elland Road, according to reports.
Brian McDermott could look to boost his front line with a unexpected name in the next few days as Serie A striker Daniele Cacia has been linked with a potential move to the club, according to reports in The Sheffield Star.
Cacia is a 30-year-old striker that has spent his whole career in Italy, prominently playing in the lower divisions. However, last season it was the experienced striker's goals that ultimately played the biggest part in Hellas Verona's promotion back into Serie A.
The former Leece striker was named the Serie B's top goalscorer, netting an impressive 25 goals in 41 games in all competitions. Although, now it can be argued that he has become a victim of his own success because winning promotion for the club allowed them to replace him former Bayern Munich hitman Luca Toni.
Cacia is yet to open his account this season and with only 3 starts and 7 sub appearances, it could be reasonable to suggest the player is starting to look elsewhere.
He comes in with good pedigree and a seasoned CV, which is highlighted by the fact Italian giants Fiorentina paid €4.5m for half of his contractual rights back in 2007.
But, looking through his goalscoring history in Italy he seems to blossom in the lower divisions, but fail when given a chance at the top level. And in his 35 Serie A appearances he has only managed two goals.
Leeds United are currently in the middle of a transfer saga which has made a huge impact on results and their effectiveness in the transfer market, having only signed Cameron Stewart and Jimmy Kebe.
If a takeover can't be resolved in the next 48 hours, it seems unlikely Leeds United will bring anyone in before the deadline closes - which would put this rumour to bed.
Should Leeds United take a gamble on Cacia?
