http://www.leedsunited.com/news/article/dq604pw575cz1c7zdt070sugw/title/brian-mcdermott-club-statement

Trist!

I scored 24 goals helping my side win promotion back to the Premier League aged just 22. Then in my first season in the top flight I had bagged an impressive 15 goals by the end of January. My form earned me an England call-up. Am I a £35m striker? No. I am Michael Ricketts, February 2002.

Synes folk tar av vel mye her inne. I kveld spilte gutta for BMD.

Kenny - 7
Byram -7
Lees 7
Pearce - 7
Warnock - 7
Austin - 7
Mowatt - 7
Kebe - 7 second half 8
Stewart 8
Murphy 8
McCormack 10

Edited to say Stewart continued from Tuesday night. Kebe was outstanding second half always wanted the ball and was a constant threat. Good to see us have two potentially decent wingers. Luke Murphy back to his best today and Ross was just Ross.

-----------------------------------

Kenny - 6
Byram - 8
Lees - 7
Pearce - 7
Warnock - 6
Kebe - 8
Austin - 8
Murphy - 7
Mowatt - 7
Stewart - 7
McCormack - 9

----------------------------------------

Kenny -6
Byram - 8
Lees - 5
Pearce - 7
Warnock - 6
Mowatt - 7
Austin - 7
Murphy - 7
Kebe - 8
McCormack - 9
Stewart - 6

Alex Smithies - 10. f**king love this lad. Always falls apart against us. He'll be back on the psychiatrist's couch Monday morning. :lol2:

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Yep, Lees was atrocious unfortunately. No quells in dropping him for Marius. Shame that Lees hasn't progressed. Looked unconfident and all too happy to hoof at every opportunity.

Disappointed with Warnock, big fan of his but today he didn't seem at the races.

Still not fond of Stewart but everyone else not mentioned can be proud of that performance in the second half.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Kenny - 7
Byram - 9
Lees 7
Pearce - 7
Warnock - 6
Austin - 7
Mowatt - 6
Kebe - 8
Stewart 7
Murphy 9
McCormack 9

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Byram was MOTM despite Ross' hattrick. The interception he made in the first half when Ward tried to square it to Wells was top notch. Looks back to fitness now and the player we know he can be.

Special mentions for Murphy, Stewart and Kebe too. Kept us ticking along and the two wingers actually got at their men and got balls into the box.

First half, we were poor, but 2nd half it was men against boys

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Paddy 6
Byram 8 back to last years form
Lees 5 scared EVERYTIME he gets it and hoofs it
Pearce 7 did a job
Warnock 5 git caught out a few times 1st half
Murphy 8 especially second half
Austin 8 see above
Mowatt 6 but superb goal
Kebe 8 scared them shitless esp second half
Stewart 7 frustrates me as he can do it but chooses only a few occasions in a match to do so
Ross 10 MOTM

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hard to give ratings due to the monumental difference in 1st half and 2nd half performances.

Kenny - 7 - Didn't do much wrong, his kicking had no chance in the wind today. Made one good save but wasn't tested that much.

Byram - 8 - First half got caught out a lot and Ward gave him a hard time but made two vital last ditch tackles. Second half was as good as he ever was last year. Him and Kebe terrorised them.
Lees - 6 - Needs to be given some slack due to the conditions but he did seem to get caught under the ball a lot. Dodgy a few times with the ball at his feet.
Pearce - 6 - Similar to Lees.
Warnock - 6 Not his best game but they didn't get anywhere near as much out of him than they did Byram in the first half.

Mowatt - 7 - Struggled first half but came into it second a bit more like the team. Took his goal very well.
Murphy - 9 - Thought he was class today, first half him and McCormack were the ones to come out with any credit. Ran the game second half. If he can put a run of performances like that together than we'll be much better off.
Austin - 7 - Thought he was way too quiet in the first but was at his best in the second. Didn't stop running and made good decisions on the ball at the right time.

Kebe - 8 - Seemed to be a lot more driven in after the break. DId a lot more work defensively and some great play between him, McCormack and Byram. Very good goal.
Stewart - 6/7 - Can't decide what to give him, decision making can be poor and is f**king awful at stepovers. Getting better though and did well for McCormack's hattrick goal. Should have scored early on. Did his bit.

McCormack - 10 - Simply faultless. I didn't think he had it in him to play like that on his own up front but everytime the ball got to his feet he made something happen. A fantastic, committed performance. MOTM.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Did everyone miss fact Stewart was at fault for their goal? Lost ball and we paid for it. Got over it though and then played well. Poor tom seem to think Wells was something special and shit himself every time he was about.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kenny - don't think he can blamed for the goal, but was almost caught out with a few corners in the first half, slightly fortunate to get away without conceding another.

Byram - first half he was getting caught out in behind a bit too often, but his second half performance was brilliant the third goal was Sam at his best, also had some good link up play with Kebe on the right throughout, improved defensively too. -7.5

Lees - still not at his best but better in possession, bar one sloppy pass first half. The movement of the front two caused both cbs problems first half but like Byram improved in the second.-6.5

Pearce - in possession he was guilty of a few too many long balls but with the wind I will let him off, like Lees was struggling with the movement of the front two early on but improved. 6.5

Warnock - another mixed display the only worries in the second half came down his side, just seems to switch off and they seemed to target him. 6

Mowatt - cool finish, grew in confidence as the game went on he's improving steadily. -7
Murphy - best performance in a while. Although the team were under pressure in the first half he was the one trying to play. Needs to put a consistent run together of this level. -8.5

Kebe - lovely goal, was nice to see him come inside and link up with Ross and it wasn't the only time. Second half he played like the Kebe the year reading went up. Worked hard pressing too. 8
Austin - second half outstanding played like a captain, he was everywhere this is I prefer to see him this high up the pitch. Needs to work on his lifting :D. -8
Stewart - mistake lead to the first goal but held his hand up and missed the best chance of the first half, did well on the fourth goal. When playing in the 3 behind he needs to get involved a little more like Krbe did second half. 6.5

McCormack - stepped up today, took some hammer in the first half but kept going and got his rewards. The first goal was so important and the I also liked the finish on his third cooly passed it in. -10

Overall the individual ratings are not too important, the team pulled together for a big 3 points. Proud of them.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Does actually make you think if some people watched the game mate, Byram was awesome, look at his involvement in Ross's goal, Stewart was, well........a slight improvement on Tuesday!

Leeds Twelfth Man Plays Role in Smashing Huddersfield

by Right In The Gary Kelly's

This time yesterday, Leeds fans had practically forgotten that we had a game to play. Amid the chaos in which manager Brian McDermott has supposedly been sacked and Massimo Cellino has purchased the club, fans were starting to worry about the future of their club. Half an hour into a game which began with protests outside of the East stand;  (View our Vine ) Huddersfield Town fans gleefully revelled in dominating proceedings and taking a deserved one goal lead against a fragile Leeds team, however, there confidence, cockiness and naivety would ultimately cost them.

“Ross McCormack; he don’t want to play” was been sung by the away end as our captain struggled to impose himself on a match which was in danger of slipping away from Leeds. Unfortunately for Town, Ross did want to play and when he put Leeds level made a point by celebrating right in front of the 2,600 odd dog botherers. From that moment on, McCormack and the Leeds team simply hammered Town, roared on from there terraces what we saw was something extremely special; a managerless, ruddlerless and out of form team suddenly ‘United’ and inspired in a way which I’m sure none of us saw coming.

As expected, McDermott was not in the dugout and the responsibility was on his assistant Nigel Gibbs and caretaker extraordinaire Neil Redfearn. The atmosphere in the build up to the game was bizarre to say the least; The Peacock was as lively as I have seen it for a while and fans gathering outside the East stand made their feelings known, unanimous in their support for Brian McDermott.

For the best odds on Leeds United, head over to Marathonbet now!

Inside Elland Road the noise cranked up further as everyone now had to attempt to forget the night before and turn their attentions to the game. However, it was the visitors who were playing the better football, finding it all too easy in stretching Leeds’ backline and it was no surprise when they took the lead through Daniel Ward as a simple passing move somehow saw Ward with acres of space in the middle before firing beyond Kenny. This came after town had hit the post and had a few other decent opportunities.

Town carried on pressing forward and their new signing Nahki Wells really should have out them out of site. The former Bradford player poked a tame effort wide with only Kenny to beat and was then denied by a sensational save by our Irish stopper, somehow clearing off the line when it seemed a formality that Wells would score.

No Leeds player could really get a foot into the game, especially McCormack who seemed especially isolated. What makes McCormack a special player though is that he takes in any stick he receives and uses it as a motivation to prove people wrong. He has already done it this season; going on a magical run which saw him tear the Championship apart after some supporters questioned a couple of his performances (ironically, this came after our 3-2 defeat at Huddersfield).

We got a bit of luck with the goal as Town struggled to clear their lines and when the ball inadvertently hit Jimmy Kebe, McCormack was onto the loose ball like a flash, queue a kiss of the badge and a bit of gloating in front of the away section.

The second half was one way traffic, all towards the kop. It was a nice change for us to be attacking the North stand in the second half and as was the case at Watford, it seemed to make a difference. We were fast out of the traps and quite simply coped with the conditions better than Huddersfield, Rudy Austin was everywhere, harassing their midfield not giving them a moments peace on the ball. The real impressive part of our performance though came down our right hand side through Sam Byram and Jimmy Kebe, both had brilliant games.

Byram kept us in the game in the first half putting in a couple of wonderful sliding challenges to deny Towns forwards and in the second half we saw the Byram of old, bursting down the right and creating chances for his teammates. Kebe had up to this point been a bit of a laughing stock in the terraces but today we saw the best of him, finally taking on players, gliding past them in fact and his goal was superbly taken.

A clever flick from our captain left Kebe with plenty to do but the Malian beat his man and was composed enough to lift the ball over Alex Smithies and send Elland Road into pandemonium. The noise in the stadium there on in was relentless and when Byram and McCormack linked up to make it three, I don’t think many of us could believe it.

The last half an hour or so was extremely enjoyable, we saw Leeds competing and coming out on top. Alex Mowatt and Luke Murphy began to get on the ball more and McCormack’s movement was a constant thorn in their side.

Cameron Stewart who had probably been the quietest Leeds player up to this point, then made his mark on the game, beating his man and pulling the ball across the face of the goal all the way to McCormack for the Scot to lash in his 3rd of the day and cap a truly remarkable day for him.

There was also still time for Mowatt to finally grab his first goal for the club, thanks mainly to a fantastic challenge by Smithies who took out Anthony Gerrard allowing the youngster to cooly lift the ball into an empty net. A special moment for our academy graduate who has deserved that goal for quite a while now. As for Smithies, he had an absolute shocker today and I must thank him for that moment that really capped my day.

As the game grew to a close, the fans were enjoying the players knocking the ball around, celebrating with every little five yard pass, it seemed almost irrelivent that former Leeds midfielder Adam Clayton cracked the bar with a rasping drive, this was Leeds’ day, the fans day.

It would be unfair to pick a man of the match today, for the eleven players to go out onto that pitch and produce a second half like that is a testament to their character and skill. McCormack’s hatrick was the perfect response to some of the unfair criticism he got (shut up Simon Jordon) for just been honest and actually speaking out on behalf of himself, McDermott and the club, a real captain’s performance. Hopefully the goal and all round performance will see Kebe grow into his role at Leeds, his link up play with Byram was especially encouraging.

Gibbs and Redfearn must also take credit for that; presented with an impossible situation they have again conducted themselves with the upmost professionalism. This one though was for Brian.

Whilst the club inexplicably tried to almost cover up the sacking by confirming via a statement that he was indeed still the manager, whether he feels he can continue is a different matter. Whilst he said he would not walk away from Leeds United, who would begrudge him if he did? He has been disrespected in the most embarrassing and undignified way a man of his class does not deserve.

If Brian comes back, then great I think that’s what everyone wants but this decision is now down to him, he has to be comfortable in his position and whether he will be under Cellino is unlikely.

For now, only one song will be in our heads tonight; goes something like this; “Ohhhhhh Brian McDermott!”

I scored 24 goals helping my side win promotion back to the Premier League aged just 22. Then in my first season in the top flight I had bagged an impressive 15 goals by the end of January. My form earned me an England call-up. Am I a £35m striker? No. I am Michael Ricketts, February 2002.
