Sheridan expects touchline ban
Oldham manager John Sheridan is expecting a touchline ban following his recent dismissal at Port Vale.
Sheridan, who has expressed his regret over the incident, was sent to the stands and cautioned by the referee during his side's 3-0 defeat. He was later charged with using insulting/abusive words towards a match official.
"When you see decisions that frustrate you, sometimes you say things you don't mean," Sheridan told the club's official website.
"I regret the incident, and I hope it won't result in too much of a ban."
The former Leeds and Sheffield Wednesday midfielder has until March 9 to answer the Football Association's charge.

Foxes handed Maybury boost
Leicester manager Rob Kelly is hopeful Alan Maybury will be available for selection when City travel to Crystal Palace this weekend.
Things did not look good when the Republic of Ireland defender had to be stretchered off in the closing stages of City's 2-2 draw at Southend on Saturday after injuring his ankle in an innocuous looking collision with a Shrimpers player.
But Kelly has revealed the injury is not as bad as was initially feared.
He said: "Alan probably won't train during the early part of this week but he has certainly got a chance of being involved at the weekend.
"It looked bad when he went down but we think he just caught a nerve and that has numbed the area. The initial swelling has gone down over the weekend.
"He's a tough lad and when he goes down you know there is a problem but it is nowhere near as bad as we had first thought. We will be keeping our fingers crossed."

WARNOCK REMAINS PATIENT WITH KILGALLON

Sheffield United boss Neil Warnock has vowed not to take risks with Matthew Kilgallon after finally discovering the cause of a longstanding ankle injury.
Centre-back Kilgallon has yet to play for the Blades following his £1.75million move from Leeds early in the January transfer window due to the problem.
Further scans were conducted last week, with Warnock revealing dye was injected into the joint in the hope the injury would be revealed.
The 22-year-old has apparently bruised the bone, with a relieved Warnock admitting: "Apparently it's not uncommon for them to take this long to heal.
"It's not as bad as it could have been, but we don't want to take any risks by pushing him too hard because nature has to take its course.
"Naturally it's disappointing for everyone concerned, especially for the lad himself.
"But it should help to square things in everyone's minds now we know exactly what has been causing him this discomfort."

Ritchie keen on Bantams

Bradford City have confirmed Andy Ritchie is keen to become the club's next manager.
David Wetherall is currently in caretaker charge of the League One strugglers after Colin Todd's departure last month.
But The Bantams are looking for a long-term appointment and Ritchie took in the 4-1 defeat at Rotherham United on Saturday.
Rotherham are also searching for a new boss and Bradford chairman Julian Rhodes acknowledged the interest from Ritchie.
"I know Andy is interested in the job and maybe he was just doing some homework in case anything were to happen in the future," Rhodes told the Telegraph & Argus.
"But he could also have been looking at Rotherham as well."
Ritchie has been waiting for a new managerial post after leaving Barnsley back in November, and has also been linked with the Huddersfield Town position after Peter Jackson was dismissed on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Rhodes has confirmed that Wetherall will stay in charge of the team for Saturday's game at Huddersfield and next Tuesday's trip to Bristol City.
Rhodes added: "The situation is no different. I said David would be in charge for these away games and that's not changed."

CALEB FOLAN is on the verge of a shock call-up by the Republic of Ireland.
The Wigan striker has impressed Irish boss Steve Staunton since his move into the Premiership from Chesterfield in January.
And he could be thrown straight into the Euro 2008 qualifiers against Wales and Slovakia later this month.
Folan, 24, who has Irish grandparents, has hit two goals in five starts to help ease relegation fears.
Wigan boss Paul Jewell said: "Caleb’s £500,000 transfer fee looks good business. If his goals help keep us up, it’s worth 20 times what we paid."

Ritchie reiterates his desire

Andy Ritchie has reiterated his desire to get back into football management after being linked with the Bradford vacancy.
The former Barnsley manager, sacked by the Oakwell board in November, has also been linked with the Rotherham and Huddersfield jobs and is eager to recommence his managerial career.
"I think I've been linked with all three that are currently available and it's nice to be back in the frame," Ritchie said.
"I'm itching to get back into management, but it's disappointing for the lads who have got the sack."
All eight of Yorkshire's Football League clubs have sacked their managers this season, with Rotherham's Alan Knill last week and this week Peter Jackson at Huddersfield the latest to depart.
Bradford chairman Julian Rhodes revealed Ritchie was interested in the vacancy at Valley Parade, but confirmed caretaker manager David Wetherall would remain at the helm for Saturday's derby clash with Huddersfield.

Rafa will see a different keeper when I return to Anfield, says Scott Carson

Joining a relegation-threatened club on loan could be a daunting prospect for most goalkeepers but Scott Carson believes his decision to sign for Charlton from Liverpool for 12 months has been the making of him.

Carson has long been considered one of the best young goalkeeping talents in England but until this season he has had limited opportunities to prove it. Aged 19, and with just a handful of first team starts to his name, Carson left Leeds for Liverpool in January 2005 but admitted finding it difficult settling in amongst the star-studied squad at Anfield.
He recalls: "I found it difficult when I first went to Liverpool. The lads tried to help me settle in but I found it all overwhelming. Being so young, you could say that I was out of my depth to begin with. I had played with world class players at Leeds, but I wasn't training with them every day. I didn't know what to expect when I first went to Liverpool and all of a sudden I was training with Steven Gerrard."
A nine-game loan spell at Sheffield Wednesday last season saw Carson earn a call-up to the England Under 21 squad, but it is at the Valley where he has really thrived and is now very much in contention for the senior England No.1 jersey.
"Coming to Charlton has been the best move I could have made. I didn't expect to fight for a first team place and I've got to thank Iain Dowie for giving me a chance. I now feel a much better all-round goalkeeper and that's just down to games. This could be the season that I always look back to and think 'that's when it happened for me'."
Carson says Rafa Benitez will see a new man when he returns to Anfield but in the meantime there is the task of trying to help save the Addicks from falling through the Premiership trap door.
"The fact that Charlton have had a tough time and I have had a lot of work to do has given me the experience quicker. Making a few saves gave me the confidence early on in the season because
I proved to myself I can play at this level," he added.
"When I go back to Liverpool at the end of the season, which I think will happen, they will see a different person and a different player. I've now got the mental strength to play for a big club. I would like to think I would give Rafa Benitez a headache next season."
What happens to Carson at the end of the campaign remains open to question, but one manager reported to be following developments closely in Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.
The Gunners' chief has admitted he is unsure whether Jens Lehmann will still be at the Emirates Stadium next term and is believed to be plotting a £5 million raid for Carson should the German leave the club.

PFA: Player interview:
Andy Keogh - Wolves

Wolves are edging closer to the automatic promotion place after four straight wins and Andy Keogh couldn't be happier. The former Scunthorpe striker joined for £600,000 during the transfer window and has yet to open his account for Mick McCarthy's men but is more than playing his part. Fellow Irish Under 21 international Stephen Ward and bargain buy Michael Kightly have also made an impact at Molineux as Wolves' hungry young squad are coming into form at just the right time. It has been a long road back to Molineux for Keogh who first came over for trials as a teenager but, as givemefootball’s Ian Clarkson discovered, he is happy to be back in the West Midlands.

Q YOU WERE CLOSE TO SIGNING FOR WOLVES BEFORE I UNDERSTAND?
A I came over and had a few trials when I was 14. I impressed Chris Evans (the Academy manager), and the club offered me an apprenticeship, and professional terms, and what have you, but I opted for Leeds United. It was a straight choice between the two and at the time Leeds were flying high in the Champions League, and had all the big name players and that made a difference.

Q WHAT PLAYERS INFLUENCED YOU MOST DURING YOUR TIME AT ELLAND ROAD?
A Two players I looked up to at Leeds were Alan Smith and Robbie Keane. Robbie for his skill, and his composure on the ball. Alan for his workrate and his never-say-die attitude. I don't think I ever saw him pull out of a tackle, or not chase a lost cause, and his commitment was the best I have ever seen. Those are the players I looked at and based my game on.

Q WITH SCUNTHORPE GOING SO WELL IN LEAGUE ONE â€" DID YOU EVER HAVE ANY DOUBTS ABOUT MOVING TO MOLINEUX?
A I never had any doubts about moving. It was definitely the right move for me. The club has everything that I need to develop as a player; the players around me, the coaching staff, the facilities, the fans. Everything is there; it is just up to me to make the most of it. There are some young hungry players at Wolves, and that is the main thing. They are hungry; if you don' have players that are hungry you won't win games. There are a lot of players here that are willing to better themselves and play at the highest level.

Q WITH STEPHEN WARD COMING OVER FROM IRELAND AND KEVIN O'CONNOR HERE AS WELL YOU MUST FEEL AT HOME AS AN IRISH UNDER 21 INTERNATIONAL?
A Yes, it makes it feel homely, but they are here because they are good footballers as well. The Eircom league is coming along and you're seeing more and more players coming over from that. I think in a few years you'll see more and more players come over because it is a good league to learn your trade in.

Q IS THE STANDARD IN THE IRISH DOMESTIC LEAGUE RISING ALL THE TIME?
A The national Irish side has a squad of about 18-20 in the Under 21s, and out of that about four will be from the Eircom League. At the moment they do mainly look at over in England because that's where the bigger clubs are, but that could change.

Assistant boss Brian Stein is backing new loan signing Clarke Carlisle to make an impact in his spell at Kenilworth Road.
The big centre-half is pushing for a place in the starting line up when the Hatters travel to his former club Leeds United on Saturday.

"He will be a good acquisition for us.
"He is a powerhouse, he is comfortable on the ball and he is a good organiser."

Wethers an 'option' for derby selection
David Wetherall will be in City's squad for the West Yorkshire derby on Saturday.
But the caretaker-boss is not going to make a decision on whether to play until the morning of the Huddersfield match.
Wetherall played for the reserves today - his first action since being thrust the management reins after Colin Todd was sacked three weeks ago.
And with City's precarious league position, he will be under pressure to name himself at the Galpharm.
Wetherall said: "It's something I've got to look at. I will look at the options that we've got and I will be one of those options.
"I'll choose on Saturday what I feel is the best team available and my own personal situation will be part of the thought process."
Many fans felt he was wrong not to feature against Rotherham but Wetherall again stressed that it would have been impossible to play after such a hectic week off the pitch.
He said: "It wasn't a conscience decision that I made because I want to play at being a manager on the side of the pitch. It was out of necessity.
"I'm hoping this week will be different and the workload will be diminished. I will try to structure it so I come into the reckoning."
Wetherall played for just over an hour before substituting himself as the reserves beat Port Vale 2-1 in the Pontin's Holidays League Central Division.

Barmby, 33, has been sidelined for eight weeks with damaged ankle ligaments and his absence has coincided with the Tigers sliding back into the Championship’s drop zone.
