Following Addicks example can benefit Leeds
Leeds United v Luton Town
RADOSTIN KISHISHEV is hoping to bring some of the togetherness to Leeds United that has helped bring about an upturn in results at Charlton Athletic.
The hugely experienced Bulgarian international, far right, moved to Elland Road on loan last week from the Addicks and was the man of the match on his debut at home to Sheffield Wednesday.
Kishishev, who has made 200 appearances in seven seasons at The Valley, has joined Leeds for an initial month, but is keen to extend the stay until the end of the season.
Despite his home debut ending in a 3-2 defeat, the
32-year-old believes United can avoid a first relegation from the top two divisions – but only if everyone pulls together on and off the field.
He said: "Charlton are one bit in front of Leeds in terms of togetherness. Since Alan Pardew came, the team have improved slowly.
"He has given everyone a boost of confidence and tried to say to the players 'you are the best, you played very well and you did the right things'.
"I have never heard him say 'you didn't play well' or 'you didn't do the right job'.
"The team are very confident because they have won four games (recently). Charlton are ahead of Leeds in terms of that.
"Now, I have to give the lads that togetherness at Leeds and, hopefully, then we can catch the other teams.
"We will be all right, we just need that bit more belief to score goals and win games."
Kishishev is likely to start in the centre of midfield today due to former captain Kevin Nicholls having been dropped following his plea to join opponents Luton Town.
The Bulgarian midfield man said: "I didn't know about that until after the (Sheffield Wednesday) game. It is not good for the captain to stay away from the team when he is ready to play.
"For me, every good player has to be ready to fight for the team and fight for Leeds to survive."
United yesterday made their 13th loan signing of the season by bringing Bolton Wanderers defender Lubomir Michalik in for an initial month. The Slovakian international moved to Bolton in January from FC Senec for an undisclosed fee.
