Ollie furious with 'double whammy'
Plymouth Argyle manager Ian Holloway claimed he had been "thrown out of the referee's room" after the 3-0 defeat at Ipswich on Saturday.
Holloway was angry about two controversial decisions - the sending-off of defender Mathias Doumbe and a goal by Sylvan Ebanks-Blake disallowed for handball.
Doumbe was dismissed for a professional foul after bringing down down Jonathan Walters just outside the penalty area. Referee Jon Moss consulted his assistant before producing a red card.
Asked whether he would appeal against the red card, Holloway said: "What's the point? I have already been thrown out of the referee's room for raising my voice a little bit.
"I just can't believe it. I've never seen anything like it in my life. The referee didn't give the free-kick, and we started to play on. Then he leant on his linesman, and I thought it was a yellow card if it was a foul at all.
"We had a double whammy. When Sylvan was through, the linesman did not flag, but the referee gave a handball decision when it was not deliberate."
He added: "After that we wobbled when Ipswich scored two goals. I don't want my players to make excuses, because our response to events in the first 20 minutes was poor.
"Later I would have expected my players to score from the chances we created. We didn't put the ball in the net as we should have done, but when we did it didn't count.
"The only positive from the day is that we are flying home rather than having a seven-hour coach ride."
Ipswich took the lead in the ninth minute. Owen Garvan scored his first goal of the season with an angled right-foot shot from 15 yards after collecting a through-ball from Gary Roberts.
Argyle fell further behind in the 15th minute. Walters broke down the left. Garvan pulled the ball back across goal for Alan Lee to force home a left-foot shot from six yards.
Argyle put up a spirited fight in the second half, with Ebanks-Blake unfortunate to have a goal disallowed in the 53rd minute after he dispossessed Jason de Vos and broke through to fire past Lewis Price. There was handball, but it looked accidental.
On the hour, Price saved from Ebanks-Blake, who put in an angled shot from the right with Barry Hayles crying out for a cross.
Substitute Danny Haynes scored a third for Ipswich in the 89th minute when he burst down the right and cut in at speed. His low right-foot shot flew in off the inside of the far post.
Ipswich manager Jim Magilton said: "In the first half we were very good and scored two exceptional goals. We were disappointing after the interval, when Plymouth passed the ball better than us and worked harder.
"We became more and more frustrated. I had to change things, and Danny Haynes produced a terrific burst of speed and took his late goal brilliantly."
Majilton felt that the sending-off of Doumbe was harsh. "The referee missed it and was not even going to give a free-kick until his assistant flagged. Once a foul was given, Doumbe was the last man and had to go."
Of the disallowed Argyle goal, Magilton said: "The lad handled it. It was the right decision, but I would say that, wouldn't I?"
