"But Wise is required by competition rules to field a majority of the 11 players who have made the most first-team appearances for United this season, and the club will risk incurring a fine of £5,000 if they fail to do so."

Dessuten spiller Thompson (for å komme i kampform igjen).

Dermed blir det nok:
Ankergren
Parker-Heath-Rui-Clapham
DaCosta-Thompson-Hughes-Prutton
DeVries-Andrews/Flo

Tror kanskje at kombinasjonen Huntington/Heath blir testet ut - iom at Rui muligens blir fraværende med African Nations Cup i.l.a. vinteren.

Lucas
Frazer - Huntington - Heath - Parker
Carole - Bayly - Thompson - Da Costa
Ameobi - De Vries

- og på følgende til slutt:

Lucas
Frazer - Huntington - Heath - Parker
Hughes - Bayly - Howson
Ameobi - De Vries

Utvist: Da Costa [:0]

Darlington v. Leeds Preview

Gus Poyet is insisting that Leeds will take the game seriously, but Leeds are still likely to take the opportunity to give several fringe players their chance.
Gus told the official site “It's important for us to keep winning terms, and we'll try and win the game. We want to show people on TV we can win games. We're trying to build a winning mentality and you don't want to switch off and then come back for Saturday. Wembley is an incentive for all the teams in the competition - every player will want to play there and everyone will want to beat Leeds which we don't want."
Nevertheless, Dennis Wise is likely to make some changes from the side which beat Yeovil Town on Saturday. Alan Thompson is likely to be back, along with youngsters Ben Parker and Jonny Howson, while Paul Huntington, David Lucas and Filipe Da Costa could all make their debuts. But we will still have to field a fairly strong side, as under the competition's, rules, clubs will be required to include a majority of the 11 players that have appeared most often in first team games this season. One regular player who will definitely be missing is Jonathan Douglas, who is away on international duty with the Republic of Ireland.
Paul Huntington was looking forward to the rare opportunity to get some first team action when he spoke to the Yorkshire Post. Since he came to Leeds, the first choice pair Heath and Marques have conceded only one goal in seven games, but Huntington said "I thought when I first came here that it would be the right move for me and the last month has been great in terms of the team's performances and results. On a personal level it's not been quite as good because I'd like to have played a lot more. Unfortunately the circumstances have given me no chance and I'm not in a position to complain. When a team's doing as well as we are, you accept that you're going to be on the outside for a while. But a lot of the fringe players will be given a look-in against Darlington and I'm there to catch the eye. I want the manager to know that when there are injuries or suspensions, or if our winning run comes to an end, then I'll be ready to step into position”.
And young Ben Parker told the official site "It's a competition to take seriously," said Ben. "We're only five games from Wembley and that would be a massive day out. We're taking it seriously as a club. We'd like to keep our run going and put in a good performance. Any bit of silver we could pick up for the fans would be fantastic, especially after what they've been through these past few years. This year has been great so far, the fans are enjoying it and we're enjoying it, and there'd probably be 50 or 60,000 wanting to go if there was a trip to Wembley.”
Remember that the game kicks off at 7.30, not 7.45, and that there will be no extra time. If necessary it will go straight to penalties at the end of 90 minutes. I think that whatever team we put out will be to strong for Darlington, so I’ll go for another Leeds win.

Wise to change winning team
Leeds boss Dennis Wise is set to name a much-changed starting eleven for tonight's clash with Darlington.
Leeds are in Johnstone Paint Trophy action for the first time in their history and the boss is likely to bring in some young faces for the trip to face the Quakers.
Jonny Howson, Robert Bayly, Scott Gardner and Ben Parker are all set to play whilst Portuguese winger Filipe Da Costa could make his debut after being cleared to start his Leeds career and loan strikers Mark De Vries and Wayne Andrews are both available to play.

Leeds call for Trophy changes

Leeds United manager Dennis Wise, whose side travel to Darlington tonight, will have sympathy with the predicament of his Millers counterpart who said: "The rule does not help.
"You want to give squad players a game, but it is very difficult to do with that rule.
"We knew the rules so I am not moaning, but they do need looking at. We have kids in the squad who look tired but it is rubbish to say they are not fit enough."
Rothertham could welcome Mark Hudson back from injury for a tie that kicks off at 7.00.
Bradford City have already fallen victim to the rule this season after injuries forced Stuart McCall into making several changes for a first-round tie at Doncaster Rovers.
The Bantams were fined £4,500 with a further £1,500 being suspended after Doncaster romped to an easy 5-1 victory.
Leeds are the other Yorkshire club in action tonight when they make their debut in a competition that started life in the Eighties as the Associate Members Cup. Several sponsorship deals later and it is now known as the Johnstone's Paint Trophy, or as Wise has insisted on calling it during his last two press briefings â€" "the St Johnstone's Cup".
Such a slip of the tongue is a possible indicator as to how much importance the competition will be afforded by Leeds this season.
League One has to be the club's overriding priority with United's spectacular start of nine wins and a draw in the opening 10 games raising genuine hopes of a promotion push.
Wise will be without Jonathan Douglas due to international duty so will hand a recall to Alan Thompson, who was rested for the weekend win over Yeovil Town. New signings Paul Huntington and Filipe Da Costa will also be hoping for a run-out at Darlington tonight.
Loan pair Mark De Vries and Wayne Andrews are also eligible for the club's first game in the competition for League One and Two clubs, Leeds having been handed a bye at the first-round stage.
Wise said: "We have a game on Tuesday in the St Johnstone's Cup and you will see some new faces playing in that game. And after that we have Leyton Orient (in the league), which is one we are looking forward to.
"I spoke to Thommo (last week). Unfortunately, he has trained 10 days out of 28 and looks a little off the pace. He knows that. He played at Oldham and looked very worn out.
"But he will have a game on Tuesday because, obviously, I want to get him raring to go. He has been out for a couple of weeks and as you get older it takes its toll.
"We need to get him back up to the level he was actually at four or five weeks ago. He knows that. So, (on Saturday) he ran (rather than play). To play him (against Oldham and Yeovil) after being out for a long time would have been a bit close and he understood where I was coming from."
Despite the changes, United assistant manager Gus Poyet insists the side that kicks off tonight's game (7.30) are capable of progressing to the third round.
He said: "We want to show people on television that we can win games. We are trying to build a winning mentality and you don't want to switch off and then have to come back for Saturday. Wembley is an incentive for all the teams in the competition and everyone will want to beat Leeds, which we do not want."

Paul aims to impress for Leeds United

The Johnstone's Paint Trophy is so far south of League One on Leeds United's list of priorities this season that it is well positioned to kiss the division's feet.
Dennis Wise will take tonight's result at Darlington as it comes, but for his young defender Paul Huntington the minor competition might as well be the World Cup.
A prize which perennially struggles to free itself from a trivial reputation has not been slandered in the Huntington household.
As a means to an end, this evening's second-round tie is exactly what the centre-back has been looking for and it will please him immensely if his visit to Darlington comes to represent a fillip in his career with Leeds.
Huntington's stock was developed and nurtured at Newcastle United, but no amount of experience â€" inside the Premiership or out of it â€" could have assisted his first month at Elland Road.
The 20-year-old transferred from St James' Park to Leeds in the final hours of the summer transfer window and lodged himself behind the most consistent defence in the Football League.
In his five weeks at Elland Road, Leeds have conceded one goal and delivered six clean sheets from seven games.
Huntington's attempts to force an opening have been like a thief tapping on the gates of Fort Knox.
His anticipated appearance in the starting line-up against Darlington tonight is a chance which, in the confines of league fixtures, Huntington can neither demand nor expect.
"I thought when I first came here that it would be the right move for me and the last month has been great in terms of the team's performances and results," he said.
"On a personal level it's not been quite as good because I'd like to have played a lot more. Unfortunately the circumstances have given me no chance and I'm not in a position to complain.
"When a team's doing as well as we are, you accept that you're going to be on the outside for a while.
"I've only had a little taste of the first team and I want much more, but there's no reason for the manager to change the defence. It wouldn't make any sense if he did.
"The only down side of these results for players like myself is that we don't get too many opportunities and we can't really expect them either.
"But I can't praise the other lads enough because they've really taken to this league.
"I've signed for three years and that gives me plenty of time to develop. I've only been here for a month, although it does seem longer because I always want to be on the pitch and I get frustrated when I'm not.
"But a lot of the fringe players will be given a look-in against Darlington and I'm there to catch the eye.
"I want the manager to know that when there are injuries or suspensions, or if our winning run comes to an end, then I'll be ready to step into position.

( ..but tonight thank God it`s them (poool), insteeeeeeead of you  [8D])
