Blackwell leaves LutonAdministrators terminate manager's contract(
Cheer up, Kev.)
Kevin Blackwell has left Luton Town with immediate effect after his contract was terminated.
The former Leeds United boss handed in his resignation last week as a consequence of the club selling several players due to being in administration.
Blackwell intended to leave after the League One fixture with Bournemouth on 9th February, along with assistant Sam Ellis and coach John Carver.
But, following Tuesday night's FA Cup third-round replay defeat at Liverpool, Blackwell has parted with the Hatters now.
Prior to the 5-0 drubbing at Anfield, the Hatters' administrators accepted a loan from Luton Town Football Club 2020 Ltd.
The Nick Owen-led consortium have been given exclusive rights to purchase the club until the end of February and are also likely to be involved in the recruitment of a new manager.
A statement on Luton's official website from joint administrator Brendan Guilfoyle confirmed Blackwell's dismissal.
"After careful consideration Brendan Guilfoyle, joint administrator of Luton Town Football Club, has this morning, Wednesday January 16, 2008, with immediate effect terminated the contracts of Kevin Blackwell, the manager of Luton Town Football Club, Sam Ellis, assistant manager, and John Carver, coach."
