Kamp 26/12:

LATICS EXTEND UNBEATEN RUN

Oldham made it 11 games unbeaten as a gritty display earned them a 0-0 draw with Nottingham Forest, who were knocked off top spot by Swansea's 4-1 win over Cheltenham.
Chances were few and far between as both sides cancelled each other out in an evenly-fought contest.
The home side had come closest to opening the scoring when Chris Taylor put a shot against the post in the first minute.
Forest skipper Ian Breckin almost stole in following a 26th minute free-kick from Chris Cohen but the ball rolled harmlessly out of play before the lively Taylor had a 25-yard effort comfortably saved four minutes later.
Forest's top scorer Junior Agogo, who had a spell on loan with the Latics six years ago, should have done better with a shot from the edge of the box in the 37th minute, but neither keeper had a serious save to make in the opening half.
Agogo was again wasteful with another opportunity after the break then keeper Paul Smith came to Forest's rescue with a superb save to keep out a close-range blockbuster from Taylor with 11 minutes to go.

Oldham Athletic 0 Walsall 2

Walsall stretched their record run to eleven away games without defeat thanks to an impressive performance at Boundary Park.
The Saddlers scored a goal in each half through defender Scott Dann and on-loan Oldham striker Michael Ricketts before seeing out their victory with well organised defence.
Oldham went into the match unbeaten in eleven league and cup outings but they were well below par after Dann broke through in only the second minute.
Ricketts, who joined Walsall on loan in November and could play against his parent club as part of the deal, finished them off in style with his seventh goal of the season - two for Oldham and five for Walsall.
The in-form visitors got off to a flying start when young full-back Richard Taundry swung over a free-kick from the left and Dann leapt from eight yards out to direct his header into the bottom corner.
Oldham tried to hit back quickly after Chris Taylor set up Lee Hughes but the finish was well wide.
Hughes then headed over and Gary McDonald did the same while Stefan Stam was off target from a corner.
At the other end Walsall missed a chance through Anthony Gerrard as Oldham's best five minutes of the match failed to bring any reward.
Neal Trotman headed over the bar from close range and Hughes miscued a volley when he looked poised to score from Taylor's cross.
Oldham continued to have long spells of possession but they only tested Walsall keeper Clayton Ince with a shot from Neil Kilkenny.
Walsall doubled their lead on 65 minutes as Ricketts chased down a clearance and burst into the box to slot his shot past keeper Mark Crossley.
Oldham substitute Deane Smalley was unlucky with a diving header but Ricketts went close to adding a third when he hit the woodwork from long range in the 89th minute.

Oldham Athletic: Mark Crossley, Stefan Stam, Neil Eardley, Ryan Bertrand, Neal Trotman, Mark Allott, Neil Kilkenny, Gary McDonald *, Lee Hughes, Craig Davies **, Chris Taylor
Substitutes: Les Pogliacomi, Reuben Hazell, Jean-Paul Kamudimba Kalala, Dean Smalley (58) * , Matthew Wolfenden (78) **

Ankergren - må få forsette i mål

Richardson - vil ikke gjøre unødvendige endringer i backlinjen
Marques

Pluss at jeg tror at Constantine får tillitt i stedet for Flo.

King Shez fancies his chances at Leeds!

John Sheridan has told his Oldham troops to forget about feebly surrending their 11-game unbeaten run by becoming the first League One side to win at Leeds this season!
Its 15th against 3rd on New Years Day and older fans (like me) will need no introduction to King Shez! The 1980's Leeds idol is now the Latic's boss.
Although he was a Mancunian from Stretford and apparently a Red as a lad, he matured from the Leeds academy into a classy midfield player and Eire international. He always seemed to be on the verge of leaving Second Division Leeds, I seem to remember reading about him being destined for Everton virtually every week in the late 1980's - however it was an ill-fated £650,000 move to Nottingham Forest that ended his association with Leeds after 267 appearances and 57 goals.
After just one game for Brian Clough, Shez moved to Sheffield Wednesday where he became a firm favourite before stints with Birmingham, Bolton, Doncaster and as a player with Oldham.
Fast-forward to last Saturday, whilst reflecting on his side going down 2-0 to Walsall at Boundary Park, Shez said of Elland Road "If we can come away with a win, this result will be forgotten."
It would indeed! But having picked up just a point over the holiday-period so far, Leeds are in no mood for sentiment or charity.
The bad news is, that big lump Gregan missed the defeat against the Saddlers with an achilles injury - likewise fellow central midfielder Andy Liddell has been suffering from the same injury, hence Sheridan relying on youth.
Leeds own rising star Johnny Howson is likely to be missing, there is still no word on the shin injury which led to him being carried off in the defeat against Swansea. Central midfield is once again the biggest area of concern with Jonathan Douglas already out. Wise will probably combine any two of David Prutton, Alan Thompson and Radostin Kishishev.
The rest of the side will probably, as usually pick itself.
Leeds won at Boundary Park 1-0 earlier this season with one of our famous late-goals, Ian Westlake sealing all three points in stoppage time.
The last meeting at Elland Road came in September 2005 in the League Cup, when goals from future Oldham great Michael Ricketts (yes, that's right!) and Fraser Richardson put Leeds through to round 2.
The last league meeting at ER between the sides was a Premiership encounter in August 1993, Gordon Strachan settling it with the games only goal.
Maybe it could be an omen, but on January 1st 1990 Oldham visited Leeds for a Second Division clash and the game finished 1-1 - John Hendrie cancelling out Roger Palmer's opener (I was there!). Leeds of course went on to win promotion as Champions.
Other players to have represented both clubs include Andy Gray, Clyde Wijnhard, Tommy Wright, Dennis Irwin, Gunnar Halle, Andy Ritchie, Andy Linighan, Glynn Snodin and Neil Firm.

Irish ace Douglas is ruled out for the season

Leeds United have ruled Jonathan Douglas out for the rest of the League One season following a second examination of the midfielder's knee problem.
Douglas' injury was inspected by a surgeon on Christmas Eve, and manager Dennis Wise admitted he no longer expected to have him available before their campaign draws to a close on May 3.
Wise said: "It's easier if we take it as him being out for the rest of the season. If we get him back before then it's a plus for us."
Douglas twisted his knee in the final minutes of United's 1-1 draw at Walsall earlier this month, and his injury has removed the only regular presence in the centre of Wise's midfield.
The 26-year-old was virtually ever-present during the first half of the season and Wise has struggled to fill the vacancy with a regular alternative, with both Radostin Kishishev and Alan Thompson lacking the fitness to play every match over the Christmas period.
Youngster Jonathan Howson has been turned to by Wise to provide running power in midfield following Douglas' set-back.
Thompson delivered an influential display against Bristol Rovers last weekend, but the midfielder was left on the bench during United's Boxing Day clash with Hartlepool United having taken almost two months to recover from calf and hamstring problems.
Wise admitted the temptation to thrown Thompson into his line-up on a regular basis had increased as a result of Douglas' injury, but he has vowed to protect his captain through the second half of the season, regardless of how badly Leeds require his services.
Wise said: "Thommo's getting on a bit, and your body starts to tell you that you can't play as many games as you'd like to.
"You can't do what you did when you were 21-years-old.
"You end up pulling hamstrings and calves, and I had it towards the end of my career.
"I pulled my calf six times in one year. You have to be managed.
"I want him to get into the team, and I want him to be fit and to dictate things because he can.
"But what I don't want is to keep losing him â€" where he plays one game then misses five, plays one game then misses 10.
"Because I lost Jonathan Douglas, the temptation is probably bigger now.
"It wasn't so massive when I had Jonathan, but it's a situation that you have to get right. That's my job.
"Alan is influential, he's a big person in the dressing room and he's important. He knows that.
"But he also knows the other part of it, which is that he's got to be careful."

Howson forced to miss Latics clash

Leeds United will be without midfielder Jonny Howson for the visit of Oldham to Elland Road in League One on New Year's Day.
Howson was stretchered off shortly before half-time in the 3-2 defeat at Swansea after the stamping incident that led to Swans midfielder Ferrie Bodde's straight red card.
The Leeds teenager was taken to hospital and manager Dennis Wise is waiting to learn the full extent of his leg injury.
David Prutton replaced Howson at the Liberty Stadium and is expected to retain his place alongside Seb Carole, Alan Thompson and Ian Westlake in midfield, with leading goalscorer Jermaine Beckford partnering Tresor Kandol up front again.
On-loan Leicester midfielder Radostin Kishishev could come into contention after being dropped to the substitutes' bench.
Defender Matt Heath received his fifth booking of the season at Swansea but is available - he will miss the visit of Northampton at the weekend.

Keep up the good work inside here !

baste

Blir spennende å se hvordan midtbanen vår ser ut i dag. Håper på dette laget:

                          Ankergren

Richardson -  - Rui - - - - Huntington - - Hughes(Parker)

Prutton - - - Kishishev(Hughes) - Thompson - Carole

                    Beckford- - Kandol(Constantine)

Savner Derry her!

berlin

hvorfor sier noen her at Huntington skal spille idag ?  Heat må stå over kampen til lørdag.
