Macca angående MC: We don't want to rule out anything...
Da ligger det vel i kortene at Christie blir klar for klubben om skaden leges som den skal og han har noe å tilføre laget!
Light at end of tunnel for ChristieGary McAllister believes there is "light at the end of the tunnel" for Malcolm Christie after the striker made a welcome appearance for Leeds United's reserves in midweek.
Christie has been training with Leeds in an attempt to finally resolve the run of injury problems which have seriously damaged his career, and a second-string outing on Tuesday night edged him another step closer to full fitness.
The 29-year-old loos unlikely to be offered a contract by Leeds if and when his recovery is completed, but McAllister has allowed him to work at United's Thorp Arch training complex out of courtesy after Christie was injured while trying to win a deal with the Elland Road club last season.
The former Derby County and Middlesbrough forward was on the verge of receiving a short-term offer from United when he sustained a back problem, and McAllister hopes his latest attempt to regain match fitness will allow Christie to resume his career at a professional level.
Christie played for the entire 90 minutes as United's reserves were beaten 1-0 at Scunthorpe United on Tuesday, and McAllister said: "He was in quicksand for the last 10 minutes. He openly admitted that.
"But he's a player with whom we felt the right etiquette was to give him the opportunity to train here, and now we've given him a little feel of what it's like to be back on a pitch again.
"I'm pleased for him because it's been a torrid time. It's nice to see for a guy who's worked and battled away getting there. There's definitely light at the end of the tunnel."
Christie was rated highly enough for Middlesbrough to pay £3million to sign him from Derby in 2003, and his strike-rate of 30 goals in 90 league starts for the Rams justified his opportunity at The Riverside.
But Christie's fitness problems were so severe that he made fewer than 50 outings in four years with Boro, and he parted company with the Teesside club in 2007 at the end of his contract.
An unsuccessful trial with Hull City followed, and ex-Leeds boss Dennis Wise also took a serious interest in signing Christie before his fitness failed him again, but McAllister admitted he would take great pleasure from seeing the striker given another chance to use his talent.
"He's a player who I played against when he was a young man scoring goals at Derby," said McAllister.
"On the back of that he got his move up to Middlesbrough but since then it's been one injury after another."
