Kamp 6/9:

GRABBAN ENSURES LIONS LASH POOLS

Lewis Grabban put Millwall's poor start to the season behind them as they secured back-to-back home victories with a 2-0 win over Hartlepool.
Kenny Jackett's men had just two points prior to last week's win against Huddersfield but never looked like losing after Grabban lashed home in the third minute.
And the former Crystal Palace frontman soon turned provider for Gary Alexander just before the break as Millwall jumped from 13th to seventh.
The hosts flew out of the blocks and took the lead before Pools had a chance to settle down - Neil Harris feeding Grabban who slotted home off the upright.
And the Lions went two up in the 41st minute when Alexander combined with Grabban and nodded home following Lee-Barrett's save from the 20-year-old.
Hartlepool striker James Brown nearly pulled the visitors within touching distance but was denied by Lions keeper David Forde.

TEAM:

POOLS TOO GOOD FOR ROBINS

Hartlepool coasted to an impressive 4-1 win over Cheltenham on Friday night - a result that keeps the Robins rooted to the foot of League One.
United took the lead after 20 minutes with top scorer James Brown finishing well from close range after Town struggled to clear Jamie McCunnie's left-wing free-kick.
It was 2-0 to Pools three minutes after the break as Andy Gallinagh diverted Antony Sweeney's right-wing cross into his own net as it skidded in front of him at the far post.
The third came on 62 minutes when Robins keeper Shane Higgs pushed out another Sweeney cross, and Andy Monkhouse finished well from the left.
And the fourth followed three minutes from time when substitute Michael Mackay got on the end of a long ball down the right by McCunnie and finished well from a tight angle.
Lloyd Owusu headed in powerfully from an 89th-minute corner to give Town their consolation.

Ex Poolie Wary Of Leeds Threat

Former Hartlepool United star Mark Tinkler has warned Pools about the threat of another of his clubs, Leeds.
Tinkler, now plying his trade for Whitby Town, said that it'd be a tough game against another of his other former sides ''Obviously it will be a really difficult game for Hartlepool because Leeds have got a really good squad there and Gary McAllister has got them playing good football.''
''They have had a decent start to the season and there is that much quality in their squad that they will be right up there at the end.''
He told the Mail that Pools still had a chance of coming away with the 3 points ''Hartlepool are more than capable of winning there because they have got some excellent players.''

Ex Poolie Wary Of Leeds Threat
Former Hartlepool United star Mark Tinkler has warned Pools about the threat of another of his clubs, Leeds.

It's one Ell of a match

FAN FAVE: Mark Tinkler

FORMER Hartlepool United midfielder Mark Tinkler is convinced the current batch of Victoria Park heroes will thrive when they run out at his old stomping ground next week.
The countdown is on to Pools' third round Carling Cup clash at Leeds United next Tuesday, with Danny Wilson's side eyeing a plausible upset which would take them to the last 16 of the competition.
Tinkler has split loyalties for the game after coming through the youth ranks at Leeds before making more than 200 apperances for Pools later in his career.
The 33-year-old, now plying his trade for Unibond Premier side Whitby Town, still has vivid memories of making his debut at Elland Road as an 18-year-old and urged the current Pools players to enjoy the spine-tingling atmosphere.
Tinkler said: "It is a fantastic place to go and play. I can still remember making my debut at 18 against Blackburn in the Premier League.
"The supporters are so enthusiatic there that I got goose pimples because I was so nervous.
"It has gone a bit pear-shaped for them since they reached the Champions League semi-finals, but there is a lot of quality there still and they will be difficult to beat this season."
Both teams have started the campaign in positive fashion, with Leeds managing to put the setback of losing in last year's play-off final behind them.
Boss Gary McAllister, who played alongside Tinkler at Elland Road, has led United to fourth in the League One table and masterminded a 3-1 victory at Swindon Town on Saturday despite being reduced to 10 men after just eight minutes.
Meanwhile, Danny Wilson will be quietly confident of his side's chances after knocking out Premier League newboys West Bromwich Albion in the second round.
Pools have also put in some impressive displays in the league and head into Saturday's clash with table toppers Oldham Athletic in eighth place with nine points from the first six games.
"Obviously it will be a really difficult game for Hartlepool because Leeds have got a really good squad there and Gary McAllister has got them playing good football," said Tinkler.
"They have had a decent start to the season and there is that much quality in their squad that they will be right up there at the end.
"But Hartlepool are more than capable of winning there because they have got some excellent players.
"Jermain Beckford has been on fire for Leeds but I am sure the likes of Michael Nelson, big Sam Collins and Ben Clark will be able to keep him under wraps."

LATICS MAINTAIN UNBEATEN RECORD

Hartlepool and Oldham shared a thrilling 3-3 draw at Victoria Park as the Latics held on to their League One unbeaten record on Saturday.
Visiting defender Neal Eardley hit the bar after cutting in from the right before Lee Hughes headed in a right-wing cross from Danny Whitaker in the 23rd minute.
Hartlepool goalkeeper Arran Lee-Barrett could only parry Andy Liddell's low right-wing cross, and Chris Taylor scrambled it in from close-range at the far post.
There was an incredible start to the second half, with four goals in 10 minutes, the first three to Hartlepool as they turned the game on its head by taking the lead. Andy Monkhouse headed the first after 48 minutes, and a minute later Antony Sweeney levelled with another header. Joel Porter earned Hartlepool the lead from the spot in the 53rd minute after Sean Gregan had pulled James Brown back in the area.
But on 57 minutes Oldham came back as Taylor's low shot from the edge of the area on the left was deflected off Jamie McCunnie's ankle, sending Lee-Barrett the wrong way before rolling into the corner.
Oldham skipper Sean Gregan was sent off on 72 minutes for a last-man foul on Ritchie Jones, but the 10 men held on for a point.

Macca set to rest key players

Gary McAllister is likely to ring the changes for tomorrow night’s Carling Cup clash with Hartlepool United.
Even though his side are defending a seven-match unbeaten sequence and a good cup run would benefit the club financially, the Leeds United boss is confident enough in the strength of his squad to risk wholesale changes.
He also knows once lowly Hartlepool are no pushovers as they showed when they came back from two goals down to become only the second side to take a point off Oldham this season.
However, he will still mix things up in the expectation that competition for places will produce a winning display.
McAllister said: “The cup competitions have given us a chance to play guys who aren’t in the starting 11 but are champing at the bit to play.
“This is a chance to give those players a competitive game so there will be changes.”
Jermaine Beckford is one of the players set to be rested with Enoch Showunmi given another chance to show what he can do up front.
Andy Robinson and Robert Snodgrass, who have had to be content with places on the bench recently, are set to start as could David Prutton and Jonathan Howson.
If Casper Ankergren has shaken off an ankle injury he could take over the goalkeeping spot but the main dilemma for McAllister is in central defence.
He knows that Paul Telfer has played a huge part in making his defence more solid in recent weeks but, on the other hand, he might want to give the injury-prone veteran a rest to make sure he stays fit for the more important league games.

Virker som om Macca is sticking to his winning team.

The monkey hangers are coming to town

Hartlepool visit Elland Road for the Carling Cup clash.  Expect big changes to the side that beat Carlisle away on Saturday, all five men who sat on the bench on Saturday have every right to think they deserve a chance to impress.  Ankergren, Snodgrass, Robinson, Prutton and Howson will be expecting a run out.  Don't be surprised to see Snodgrass play up front and Macca rest either Beckford or Becchio, with Enoch still injured there isn't much chance of both being rested.
A half decent crowd can be expected for the visit of Danny Wilsons men, Leeds fans have every right to be excited with the form their team is showing.   The lads who come in tomorrow know they have to prove themselves if they are to stand any chance of breaking back into the league starting 11.
Aiden White could well start at left back again, but I personally wouldn't be surprised to see Ben Parker given the chance to prove himself.  I don't expect any other changes at the back.
The midfield will almost certainly change completely with so many players trying to get into the team.  It must be the envy of all league one to have such a strong squad.
We all know the league is where our priorities should be, but we all secretly want another run out at Wembley and Europe sounds pretty good.  Seriously, last 16 is only one game away.

Leeds entertain fellow League One opposition in the third round of the Carling Cup on Tuesday.

Form
Leeds are full of confidence at the moment after winning at Carlisle on Saturday.
So far in the competition Leeds have won away at Chester City 5-2 and beat Championship side Crystal Palace 4-0 in the last round.
Hartlepool had a good draw against League leaders Oldham Athletic on Saturday coming form 2-0 down to get a 3-3 draw.
So far in the competition Hartlepool have beaten Scunthorpe 3-0 at home and put out Premiership West Brom 3-1 also at home in the last round.

Team news
Leeds
The Whites have liked to change things around in the cup so far this season so Robinson, Prutton, Howson and Snodgrass could all get a start. The only definite absentee is Alan Sheehan who is still suspended.
Aiden White who replaced Sheehan on Saturday limped off after 60 minutes on Saturday; luckily he was only suffering from cramp and will be fit for Tuesday.

Hartlepool
The Pool are probably likely to stick to the same side that earned them the draw on Saturday.

History
The clubs have only ever met four times in all competitions; one of those was in the League Cup in 1965 when Leeds won 4-2.
They met in the League for the first time last season with Leeds running out 2-0 winners when they met at Elland Road.
