United wary of direct route from Railwaymen
SIMON GRAYSON has warned his Leeds United side to expect a more direct approach from Crewe Alexandra today.
Under Dario Gradi, the Railwaymen became renowned for their passing style but all that has changed since the arrival of new manager Gudjon Thordarson.
Grayson, whose side have not won away from home in two months, said: "I watched Crewe the other night and they are a different Crewe team to the one they were a year ago.
"Under Dario, they were labelled a nice football team who got the ball down and played. But at the moment they are a little bit more direct and the players are aware that it is going to be a different type of game against Crewe than it would have been in the past."
Leeds's five-game winless run on the road has hampered any hopes of putting pressure on the sides occupying the automatic promotion places but Grayson remains confident.
Liam Dickinson could start in place of the suspended Jermaine Beckford after netting in a midweek behind-closed-doors friendly against Sheffield United, though American striker Mike Grella is also vying for the right to partner Luciano Becchio.
