Moore faces a Kay dilemma
Tranmere will be without influential centre-back Ian Goodison for Saturday's vital clash with Leeds United after the club opted not to challenge his four-match ban, writes PHIL HAY.
The Birkenhead club were considering an appeal against the red card Goodison received during the 2-1 victory over Hereford on Easter Monday, but the Football Association had not received the necessary paperwork by yesterday's 1pm deadline.
The Jamaican's red card was his second of the season, following his dismissal against Swindon in February, and he will miss Tranmere's remaining League One fixtures and also the first leg of their play-off semi-final, should Rovers qualify.
Ronnie Moore's side lie sixth in the division, one place behind Leeds, after taking six points from their two matches over Easter, but Tranmere's manager will be forced to reorganise his team for the trip to West Yorkshire.
Moore said: "We really don't want to be losing him with three games to go.
"We'd have to disrupt our midfield by pulling Antony Kay into defence. That's something we don't really want to do because we miss Antony when he's not in midfield but if that's what we have to do then so be it."
Goodison was sent off for a tackle on Hereford's Marc Pugh, an offence which earned him a straight red card from referee Nigel Miller.
He has started 33 league matches but now 11-goal Kay is set to revert to centre-back to fill the void.
