Gray disappointed at latest defeat
Cobblers boss reflects on a poor Easter period including today's 3-2 defeat by Southend United.
Cobblers boss Stuart Gray said that his side's poor defending was to blame for the 3-2 defeat at home to Southend United on Easter Monday. Gray, reflecting on a barren run over the bank holiday, said,
"We did not defend well enough. At the moment we can't seem to keep the back door shut no matter what formation we play. We had just got ourselves back into the game and then we tried to play a lazy offside and conceded and although we rallied again it made things very difficult."
"We looked like a side under pressure in the first 10 minutes but we have told the lads to relax, express themselves and give it their all. We are struggling in both penalty boxes at the moment. You have to show desire at set plays."
"We had Southend watched a few times and we had the biggest and tallest side we could out there, but we still got done on a set play. We work and work on them but we have to do the job once we cross the white line. The manner of the goals we conceded was very frustrating.
Gray continued, "As long as we are still creating chances we have the belief that we can and will get out of it. We are just the wrong side of a very thin dividing line at the moment but things can quickly change. The belief is still very strong that we will get out of trouble.
"To do that though we have to defend better. Our goal difference is very similar to play off chasing teams and that shows we are not a million miles away from being a decent side. The belief is still there and it is still in our hands. But talk is cheap and we have to go out there and do it."

Elland Road clash made all ticket

Northampton Town fans have been told that their final league game of the season at Elland Road is all ticket.
Cobblers have been allocated 1,500 tickets for the game against promotion-chasing Leeds United on Saturday May 2, although a further batch of tickets can be made available if required.
Tickets are now on sale to season-ticket holders and will go on sale to members from 10am next Tuesday.
They will then go on unlimited general sale from noon on Thursday April 23.
"As requested by supporters we have allocated a 'singing section' for this game," said a Cobblers spokesman. "If you wish to be seated in this area please mention this when booking."

Will Leeds rest some players?

Ticket details have been confirmed for Northampton Town's final game of the season, against Leeds United at Elland Road, and it has also been confirmed that the home side will open the top tier of their enormous east stand for the occasion.
On the final day of last season, 38,256 packed into the ground to see Leeds play Gillingham.
A similar crowd is expected this time, which will make for a white-hot and intimidating atmosphere.
But Town can take some comfort in the words of Leeds legend Peter Lorimer, who has urged current boss Simon Grayson to blood some younger players once a play-off place has been secured.
"It would benefit Simon to have the freedom to rest a few players, blood a few others and have a final recap during our final two matches," wrote Lorimer in his Yorkshire Evening Post column this week.
Which may mean a run-out for Brad Johnson, who hasn't started a Leeds game since the first week of March.

Cobblers stage crucial comeback
Northampton came from behind to earn three points in their quest for survival in a 3-1 win at Leyton Orient, whose safety was already assured.
Orient had marginally the better of the first half but it took an own goal to give them the lead.
It came after 25 minutes when Jason Crowe - under pressure from home striker Scott McGleish - glanced a 35-yard free-kick from Sean Thornton into his own net.
Northampton had the chance to level but midfielder Andy Holt totally missed his kick wide of goal when a cross from the right eluded Orient's defence.
During early second-half pressure from Orient Town keeper Chris Dunn did well to tip over a shot by home midfielder Jimmy Smith.
Town survived and striker Adebayo Akinfenwa headed them level from Luke Guttridge's free-kick after 72 minutes, and Guttridge was again the provider when substitute Aleksandar Prijovic fire them ahead two minutes later.
And Ikechi Anya sealed the win three minutes from time when he broke away to score and clinch only Northampton's fourth away win of the season.

Gray is going nowhere - Cardoza
Northampton Town chairman David Cardoza says manager Stuart Gray is staying at the club, regardless of whether or not Northampton are relegated.
The Cobblers beat Leyton Orient 3-1 on Saturday to take them within a point of getting out of the relegation zone.
Cardoza told BBC Radio Northampton: "The manager is here and he's on a contract, and I don't see him going anywhere."

Cobblers in six-goal thriller

Northampton Town took a priceless point in their bid to avoid relegation after an incredible draw against promotion-chasing Scunthorpe at Sixfields.
The Cobblers twice came from behind to secure a share of the spoils to move out of the Coca-Cola League One drop zone.
Cobblers struck first blood with seven minutes until half-time with Jason Crowe lifting the ball over Joe Murphy in the away goal to put Stuart Gray's men 1-0 up.
But Liam Trotter cancelled out Crowe's opener in injury time at the end of the first period to make it 1-1 at the break.
The game came to life in the second half after the visitors took the lead through Grant McCann's 49th minute penalty.
Luke Guttridge lost the ball on the edge of the Cobblers area and then proceeded to hack down Mark Woolford with referee Mike Oliver having no hesitation in pointing to the spot.
Town went on the attack after falling behind but were left exposed at the back as the Iron started to take advantage of the space.
Chris Dunn made a stunning save from Gary Hooper after he had left Chris Doig for dead, while several of the Scunthorpe attack wasted chances to kill the game off.
Guttridge made amends for his earlier crime though when he delivered an inch-perfect cross for Iketchi Anya to head home on the hour mark to make it 2-2.
Dunn once again denied Hooper with a first-class block after 67 minutes but 60 seconds later it was 3-2 to the Iron as Matthew Sparrow scored with a smashing volley following a corner.
Iketchi Anya came close to equalising a minute later, but Murphy was equal to his point-blank header.
An incredible game took another twist when Mark Hughes headed in Danny Jackman's corner with 14 minutes left to make it 3-3.
Dunn again saved the Cobblers after 81 minutes when he rushed out to save at the feet of Gary Hooper, and several chances came and went as both teams chased victory.

General prøven før Play-off. Laget som spiller denne kampen bør være malen for Play-off. Vi SKAL opp i år. Jeg har troen!

Kamp uten betydning for oss.

Her skal Northampton knusast!!

fjellhaugen

januar 3. remember the date. we beat the team that we f@*kin hate. we knocked the scum out the FA cup. we`re super leeds and we`re goin up!!!!!

Men 'stammen' i laget må for all del spille :)

Tell me - I've got to know
Tell me - Tell me before I go
Does that flame still burn, does that fire still glow
Or has it died out and melted like the snow
Tell me  Tell me

COME ON LEEDS !!
