A week ago both Leeds and QPR were linked with Sv Zulte Wargem striker Habib Habibou. After QPR signed Loic Remy the rumours surrounding Habibou quickly dissapeared, including those surrounding Leeds. It was assumed that both Leeds and QPR had passed on the oppertunity to sign Habibou, but the strikers recent Twitter activity suggests he is Elland Road bound after all.
After Tuesdays win over Birmingham, Habibou tweeted -
Habib Habibouâ€@HabibHabibou7
Dioufy score today good job bro
Fair enough, that gave nothing away, and it didn’t really give anyone a reason to believe a move to Leeds might still be on, although it was an odd thing to tweet considering the lack of any mention of Leeds, or any Leeds player for that matter, on Habibou’s Twitter account since, well, forever.
Saturday however, saw Habibou once again refer to the game at Elland Road.
Habib Habibouâ€@HabibHabibou7
44 he score today Again grtz
How likely is it that Habibou would know McCormacks squad number if he wasn’t at the ground, or at least, around the club?
Then came this -
Habib Habibouâ€@HabibHabibou7
Good ambiance today win 1-0 good Iam happy #Back#Home
Back home? England? Surely not Leeds!
But perhaps most revealing was this tweet a few hours later.
Habib Habibouâ€@HabibHabibou7
#7>>#9
From number seven, to number nine. Habibou’s squad number at Zulte is number 7. Leeds’ number 9 shirt is free.
This of course could all prove to be coincidence, but considering the player quite obviously saw the game today and was at Elland Road, it is fair to assume that he is in talks with the club. AND, if he is claiming the number 9 shirt, that would suggest a deal has been agreed.
