Former Ipswich boss and boyhood Leeds United fan Mick McCarthy looks set to take over the reins at Elland Road. McCarthy was evens to become the next Leeds manager on Saturday morning, but betting has now been suspended with some bookmakers.
Current Leeds boss Paul Heckingbottom has endured a tough time in his short spell at the club, having won just 10 points in his 13 games in charge. This barren run stretches back to his time in charge of previous club Barnsley with Heckingbottom’s last 28 Championship games reading 3-9-16 (W-D-L). According to the bookmakers, Italian owner Andrea Radrizzani may be set to pull the plug on his second manager of the season, before turning to McCarthy to steady the ship.
The former Barnsley boss took over at Elland Road in February but all eyes are on who is set to replace him. McCarthy is the clear favourite, with Nigel Pearson (7/1), Hannes Wolf (10/1), Alan Pardew (14/1), Steve McClaren (14/1) and Slaven Bilic (16/1) also in the running.
