U23 head coach on Cardiff City win.

Leeds United Under-23s head coach Carlos Corberan spoke to www.leedsunited.com following Monday’s victory over Cardiff City.

A second half brace from Jack Clarke, saw the Whites come from behind to claim all three points in the Welsh capital.

Experienced striker Lee Tomlin gave Cardiff the advantage at the break, but Corberan felt his side should have already been ahead.

“I think we deserved to win the game,” said Corberan.

“We suffered more at the end than we needed to, because we controlled the game from the first minute.

“In some moments of the game, it is going to demand you to be strong in defence and I felt we only suffered from free-kicks, because Lee Tomlin is very good in these types of situations.

“We created enough clear chances in the first half to go three or four goals up and Cardiff had one free-kick and scored one goal.

“In this situation you have to show you have the character as a football player, because there was frustration we were behind at half time, when we were the better team.

“The players had to continue to believe that they could score the next chances and reduce the mistakes we were making in attack.

“In the last two games we have created 10-15 chances and only scored three goals, so this is something we have to improve.

“At the same time we have to improve the quality of the final pass, taking chances and taking control of the game as well.

“We are happy with how we played against Cardiff, but not with the score, because we need to be winning by more.

“The important thing is that the team has taken 10 points out of the 12 available and we want to create the winning mentality in our players.”
