Woodgate: I'll make Middlesbrough decision at season end
Middlesbrough defender Jonathan Woodgate has indicated he'll wait until season's end before deciding his future.
"I'll sit down and talk with Boro and also see what other clubs are interested," Woodgate told the Daily Telegraph. "I'll probably wait until the end of the season but you never know what could happen. You never know.
"I'm dead happy. I've got a lot of pride playing here.
"There's nothing better than playing for your hometown club and building something from scratch to try to get to the top."
Woodgate is keeping all his options open and admits he would love to go back to Spain and prove himself after an injury-hit spell at Real Madrid.
"Well, I don't know who makes the decisions there, whether it's the manager or the people above him," he said. "You never know. I've still got another year on my contract so we'll see what happens.
"On the one hand, I want to go back to Madrid and prove myself but then I think I might want to stay in England and build something here. It's a difficult one.
"It's a shame because I know I could have done it at Madrid if I'd stayed.
"I don't have any regrets because I couldn't help getting injured but I know I could have done something there."

Wigan - Fulham 0-0.
Caleb Folan startet for Wigan, men byttet ut i 31. mins. (serious injury).

There were worrying moments for the home side in the 28th minute when Folan, who was called up by Ireland for the first time last week, was stretchered off after an accidental clash with Carlos Bocanegra.
Folan appeared to have fallen awkwardly on his right ankle and was immediately replaced by Henri Camara, although early indications were he had suffered nothing more than bruising.

Huge striker boost for Latics
Wigan have been boosted by the news Caleb Folan has not broken his ankle and has just suffered bad bruising.
The striker was stretchered off in the first half amid fears he had broken his ankle but boss Paul Jewell is delighted to have learned the injury is not that serious.
Even so the injury injury is still bad enough to keep him out of the Republic of Ireland's Euro 2008 qualifiers.

"I wouldn't have thought he had any chance of going with Ireland," Jewell revealed. "It just shows you the highs and lows of this game. Two weeks ago he scored the winner against Manchester City and got picked for Ireland, and then this happens to him."

ManU - Boro: 1-0

Spurs - Chelsea : 1-2.

Coach Whitlow will leave Magpies

Notts County coach Mike Whitlow has confirmed that he will leave the club when his contract ends in the summer.
The 39-year-old defender joined the Magpies in June 2004 on a free transfer from Sheffield United.
He has been a coach at the club since August 2005 after being given the job by previous manager Gudjon Thordarson.
Whitlow had remained registered as a player for the last two seasons but has not made an appearance after a knee injury ended his playing career.
He made 30 appearances for the Meadow Lane club during the 2004/05 season with his final appearance coming against Boston United in March 2005.

Hull still hot on Mills
Phil Brown has revealed that he will try and strike a deal to bring Danny Mills back to Hull before the transfer window closes for the season.
The Tigers are striving to keep their heads above water in the Championship and manager Brown is eager to add some experience to his squad.
Mills, who impressed during a loan spell at Hull earlier in the campaign, is currently battling to overcome a leg injury and should he prove his fitness, Brown claims he will attempt to persuade Manchester City to let him head to the East Coast.

Neil's dreaming of a silver lining

DISTINGUISHED goalkeeper Neil Sullivan is hoping for third time lucky at the Millennium Stadium.
Rovers face Bristol Rovers on April 1 in the Johnstone Paint Trophy Final in what could be the last ever domestic fixture at Cardiff.
Barring an injury or suspension, former Scottish international Sullivan is likely to be one of the first names on the team sheet for Sean O'Driscoll's team.
But his memories of the Welsh capital could be described as patchy at the very least â€" he has yet to finish on the winning side there.
In 2002, the former Wimbledon trainee played for Spurs in their 2-1 League Cup final defeat by Blackburn. Four years later, his experience of the 74,500 capacity stadium didn't get much better, as he starred in Leeds' 3-0 thumping by Watford in the Championship play-off final 10 months ago.
Revitalised
While his parent club continue to sink faster than the Titanic towards League One obscurity, Sullivan has been revitalised since rejoining the South Yorkshire club on loan for the second time this season.
And he concedes that a Millennium Stadium victory at the third time of asking would cap off a magnificent loan move.
Sullivan said: "The Millennium Stadium is a fantastic set-up; it's a good place and a lovely pitch to play your football on.
"Unfortunately, I've been their twice and lost twice so hopefully it will be third time lucky, but we will have to wait and see.
"Obviously, if I'm selected by the manager then it would be a wonderful occasion for both myself and the club, but we're not their yet. It's an old cliché, but you have to take each game as it comes.
"I'm glad to be here again. It was a great club for me first time around and when they asked me back I thought 'yeah, it would be great'.
"It's a good club that's well run and I'm enjoying my time here. I'm working with a superb bunch of lads and I'm really enjoying it, so that's all you can ask for."
Although the 37-year-old is eligible to play in next month's showpiece final, he is not, however, able to stay with Rovers past April 22.
His three-month loan spell runs out after facing Brentford at home.
"I'm here until April 22nd and that's when my loan runs out because I will have done my allotted days, but then we will see after that," Sullivan revealed.
"I don't think it can be extended until the end of the season â€" you can only do 93 days over the course of a season.
"I think we're looking for a loophole, but I don't think there is one there," he added. "That's life, that's football.
"I'm just going to enjoy my time here and help Donny get up in the table as high as they can.
"And whether that means automatic promotion or play-offs, I'll be around to wish them all the best."
With only two months of the campaign left Doncaster's squad is going to be tested to the limit over the coming weeks, especially the frontline.
O'Driscoll's options in attack have been severely compromised by knocks to leading marksman Paul Heffernan and ex-Brighton powerhouse Mark McCammon, who was stretchered off with a dislocated shoulder in Donny's terrific 1-0 win at Nottingham Forest .
And despite the team capitulating 4-0 at promotion rivals Oldham last Sunday, Sullivan still believes the club can compensate for the loss of McCammon and Heffernan by producing positive results on the pitch. He said: "Mark was in a lot of distress when he did the injury and there's no doubt he will be a big miss, but I think Brucie and Pricey have shown in the last couple of games they can replace him.
Cope
"They work their socks off and never stop trying to defend from the front.
"With Heffernan being out too it was something we could have done without, but I think we have got the players to cope and get on with it.
"These things happen and they test you, but you've just got to get on with it and keep believing."
Since returning to the Keepmoat Stadium, Sullivan had kept an impressive three clean sheets in six outings before this weekend's 2-0 defeat by Cheltenham.
Manager O'Driscoll praised the experienced shot-stopper and his defence, and added: "I think when Neil came in for his first loan spell he didn't concede a goal.
"If we keep a clean sheet we always look capable of scoring a goal at the other end.
"We've looked like we can score goals all season, but keeping clean sheets gives you an opportunity to win games."

Hart handed role at Fratton Park

Portsmouth have appointed former Nottingham Forest and Barnsley manager Paul Hart as their new Director of Youth Operations.

Hart has been handed the duties of developing a long-term strategy for the development of younger players at Fratton Park.
Chief Executive Peter Storrie told the club's official website: "The club is committed to developing a solid foundation for the future based on home-grown talent and there is no-one better at doing that than Paul."
Hart added: "Portsmouth is a club that has big ambitions for the future. I've been very impressed by the club's plans both on and off the field, and a successful Academy and youth operation will play a big part in that."

OSTER MAY DEMAND MOVE

John Oster has warned he may have to leave Reading for the sake of his career - though he could not care less about the impact a move might have on his international ambitions.
The 28-year-old midfielder signed a new deal earlier this season which ties him to the club until the end next term but he is disappointed at starting just three of the Royals' Barclays Premiership games.
He said: "My situation isn't ideal. If it remains the same then I will probably look to go elsewhere and get some football.
"There is a clause in my contract [allowing me to leave], and the manager is fair. I could get back in the team, but all the indications are that I'm not going to play. So we'll see what happens."
Oster's international career has also come to a grinding halt since John Toshack took charge of Wales.
The former Sunderland and Everton player will have another free weekend after being omitted for the European Championship qualifying games against Republic of Ireland and San Marino.
And he told the Reading Evening Post: "If I'm honest then, no, I wouldn't rather be playing for Wales.
"Unless John Toshack phones me up and explains why he has left me out and picked players from Yeovil and Shrewsbury etc then I personally don't want to play.
"He hasn't given me an explanation. I don't know anything about the bloke. I have never spoken to him at all or ever come across him. So I don't know if he just doesn't like me as a person or a player or what.
"But there's no doubt I have got more quality than some of the players he is putting in the squad.
"Craig Bellamy phoned me up the other week asking me to speak to him [Toshack], but there's no way I'm going to.
"He is obviously too stubborn a person to speak to me and so that's the way it is. But I will be watching their game. I obviously want the lads to do well."

Ex-England Skipper Joins Albion
Tadcaster Albion have signed ex-Leeds United and former England Under-21 star Mark Ford.
Mark is unable to play every week due to work commitments but will be a major part of the squad when he can.
He knows a number of Tadcaster's players from the York Sunday Morning League where he used to manage a team.
Albion hope that, when he plays, Mark's presence will be a major benifit to the youngsters in the team and they can learn from him.

Smith glad to be given time
Alan Smith has praised Sir Alex Ferguson for being patient in his recovery from a double injury.
The striker broke his leg, and dislocated his ankle, in an FA Cup tie at Liverpool over a year ago and has taken time to return to fitness.
A comeback in the autumn proved to be premature and Smith was then offered the chance to go out on loan to build up his sharpness.
Smith declined the opportunity and, after starting Manchester United's FA Cup win over Middlesbrough on Monday, thanked his manager for his unwavering support.
"It's always been my aim to get back to the Alan Smith I was before my injury and the gaffer has been brilliant by giving me time to do that," Smith told MUTV.
"I think I would have been forced back into action early at other clubs and made to suffer in front of everyone who would be expecting my performances to be up to previous standards.
"It's been refreshing to be given time and the Boro game was a great occasion for me. It's what I've been working towards."
With United currently short of strikers, Smith outlined his determination to play his part in the club's quest for the Treble.
He added: "Playing games for the best teams with the best players is what being a footballer is all about.
"And I know that at Manchester United I've got the opportunity to do that.
"There has been a lot of speculation recently over my future, but that's never been in doubt between me and the club. I'm proud to play for this football club.
"To be part of a team like ours who have a great chance of winning some silverware is fantastic. That's what I've worked so hard for.
"Hopefully when the difficult times come I can be one of those players who can come in and do a job for the team."

Smith finds plenty of familiar faces as he returns to battle

Once they were key members of the Leeds United squad that Manchester United's players regarded as a threat of Arsenal proportions.

Having left the sinking ship, Alan Smith, Mark Viduka, Rio Ferdinand and Jonathan Woodgate were reunited for the first time last night - and one of their number had a decisive impact on the result.
Woodgate had been faultless against Wayne Rooney and Smith, but with 15 minutes left, the on-loan Real Madrid defender brought down Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese talisman's penalty ended Middlesbrough's FA Cup odyssey.
On a bitterly cold night, Smith made his return in short sleeves, while Viduka wore long sleeves and gloves. It is too simplistic to suggest that the contrast typified the differences between them, but the United player was quick to demonstrate that long absence through injury has not diminished his appetite for rough and tumble.
There are few more selfless forwards than Smith. That side of his game - which partly accounts for a less-than-prolific scoring record - was evident as he dragged defenders out of position, sometimes literally. Twice he raced clear on the flanks before putting telling crosses into Middlesbrough's six-yard box.
Viduka is a different animal, built like a rugby prop yet with the feet of a ballet dancer. The Australian can be indolent, but at his best he makes a mockery of the phrase "not big and not clever". A low shot that flashed a yard wide of Tomasz Kuszczak's goal during the initial sparring indicated that he was in the mood.
Intriguingly, both Smith and Viduka frequently tangled with Woodgate and Ferdinand respectively. Woodgate, who has also missed more football than he has played in the past few seasons, denied his old team-mate a possible first goal for United in 17 months when he slid in to cut out Ronaldo's pass late in the first half.
When United won a corner and Ferdinand headed wide, it was Viduka who pressured him as the ball swung in. All four former Leeds players were, it seemed, on a personal mission to stop their one-time comrades from prospering.
Woodgate and Ferdinand were to have been David O'Leary's dream defensive duo, but off-the-field events meant they seldom played together. They may yet combine for England in Israel on Saturday.
Neither favours the crunching challenge. When Woodgate robbed Rooney in a dangerous position soon after half-time it was all about poise and anticipation. He followed that with a confident dummy and turn that embarrassed Smith sufficiently for the striker to execute a sly late tackle from behind and earn a booking.
For all his endeavour, Smith lacks Viduka's improvisational ability. Swerving through United's defence, the Australian set up Stewart Downing for the game's clearest opening, which the England winger blazed over. For Woodgate, also watched by Steve McClaren, a single error proved more costly.
