Vi får passe på Eastwood. Seier er det eneste som gjelder..............
I scored 24 goals helping my side win promotion back to the Premier League aged just 22. Then in my first season in the top flight I had bagged an impressive 15 goals by the end of January. My form earned me an England call-up. Am I a £35m striker? No. I am Michael Ricketts, February 2002.

Micky Adams:

Saturday's game between Southend and Leeds is a key match - it's massive
"If they can win games against those around them all the better and teams with bigger squads and experience are the ones more likely to get out of it," he added.
"There are some teams we expected to be down there at the beginning of the season through lack of resources and experience, but then there are also some surprises down there like Leeds.
"But I look at Leeds and I really think they can get out of this situation. They have experience on the pitch and in Dennis Wise, who took Millwall to an FA Cup final.
"Any manager who does that has got a good pedigree."
Leeds have been bottom since mid-January, but if they are going to climb clear, who is going to take their place in the bottom three?

Mange tenkjer kanskje: Southend?

Men kjære Gud!

- Leeds satser meget offensivt utover 2. omgangen

Southend United v Leeds United - (Home 5/4 Draw 9/4 Away 7/4)

Southend are without Alan McCormack for the next two games due to suspension as Steve Tilson looks for an important win.
Richie Foran is likely to take his place, with Adam Barrett the only injury concern as he is out for another fortnight with a groin problem.

Leeds continue to have a lengthy injury list as they look to avoid relegation, with Shaun Derry, Ian Westlake, Graham Stack and Gary Kelly out.
Jemal Johnson and Hayden Foxe are unable to play after being knocked out in the past week, but Rui Marques and Robbie Elliott are fit.
Alan Thompson, Eddie Lewis and Armando Sa are unlikely to figure, but Tore Andre Flo is close to a return.

MCCORMACK MISSES SIX-POINTER

Southend will be without Alan McCormack for Saturday's Championship relegation six-pointer at home to Leeds United.
Southend will be without combative midfielder Alan McCormack for Saturday's Championship relegation six-pointer at home to Leeds United.
McCormack begins a two-game suspension after picking up a 10th booking of the season at Ipswich on Saturday - although the ban did not stop him collecting caution number 11 against Burnley on Tuesday.
Mark Gower will therefore join captain Kevin Maher in central midfield with Richie Foran - who climbed off the bench at Roots Hall to hit the last-gasp winner against Burnley - coming in on the left wing.
On-loan Charlton winger Lloyd Sam is set to be among the substitutes once more after a lively 20-minute cameo in midweek.
Centre-half Adam Barrett is the Shrimpers' only injury absentee as he continues his recovery from a recent double-hernia operation.
Alan Thompson, Jemal Johnson, Eddie Lewis and Armando Sa are the latest to join Leeds' injured list ahead of Saturday's trip to Southend.
Midfielder Thompson (hamstring) lasted just 13 minutes when returning from injury at Leicester in midweek, on-loan Wolves striker Johnson was knocked out at the Walkers Stadium, Lewis is struggling with a back injury and full-back Sa has a hamstring problem.
Johnson will definitely miss out while the other three are all major doubts.
Leeds are already without Shaun Derry (Achilles), Ian Westlake (groin), Tore Andre Flo (broken foot) and Hayden Foxe (concussion) and Gary Kelly (ankle and back), but defender Robbie Elliott (hamstring) returned to the bench at Leicester.
Bolton defender Lubomir Michalik and fellow loanee Radostin Kishishev are expected to keep their places in the starting line-up.
A victory for Dennis Wise's Whites at Roots Hall would move them level on points with the Shrimpers.

Leeds star 'looking forward' to crucial battle
Jonathan Douglas believes the Whites have the players to handle Saturday's six-pointer against Southend United.
"Everyone knows it's a big game and one we have to win," said the midfielder.
"I get nervous whatever game it is.
"We've got players here who've played at the highest level, and they're capable of handling games like this.
"I'm looking forward to it, and you want to play football to play in the big games. This is a big one."

Douglas: This is the big one

ON leaving the Millennium Stadium last year, Jonathan Douglas had no idea that finishing 21st would become cause for celebration at Elland Road 12 months later.

The midfielder thought he was accepting a promotion missive when he was asked back to Leeds United on a permanent contract in August, three months after the club's near-miss with a place in the Premiership.
But his first game back ended in defeat to Wolves, and the rest has been dark history.
United lost seven of their eight league matches following Douglas' arrival from Blackburn, in no way down to him alone but more an example of the speed at which the club's wheels came off.
The 25-year-old would admit now that Leeds looked doomed at Christmas.
It is for those reasons, and more beside, that avoiding relegation from the Championship would make this season a peculiar but tangible success.
But that achievement will never be under more threat than at Roots Hall tomorrow, where Southend United will attempt to force Leeds into submission.
Defeat in Essex would give Leeds seven games to overhaul what amounted to a seven-point deficit, a margin that most with an understanding of football would describe as terminal.
For all the insistence of Dennis Wise, who refused to place excessive emphasis on tomorrow's game, his players will not waste their energy playing the fixture down.
"Everyone knows it's a big game and one we have to win," said Douglas. "I get nervous whatever game it is.
"We've got players here who've played at the highest level, and they're capable of handling games like this. I'm looking forward to it, and you want to play football to play in the big games. This is a big one.
"We know that they're going to come at us, but we have to defend well and play our way into the game. I know we're capable of beating them.
"It's difficult not winning as many games as you would like. Everything's rosy when you're winning games.
"But when we stay up this year, I'm sure it will be a good season. I have a strong belief that we will do it."
Southend, though, are an example of what happens when clubs allow actions to achieve what words cannot.
As Steve Tilson made an effort to enjoy Christmas dinner in December, his mind will not have been far away from a Championship table which showed Southend five points adrift of the division and seven points from safety. A woeful goal difference compounded their weak position.
But 2007 has been a time of renaissance for the Shrimpers. They started the year by beating West Bromwich Albion, and have swept through a host of other credible victims since.
Cardiff, Birmingham and Ipswich have all fallen to Southend, and a fortunate victory over Burnley on Tuesday night edged Tilson's players out of the relegation places. Their garden is rosier than it was.

Dennis wises up to task

TINY Dennis Wise insists the Leeds United job is not too big for him.

Wise's four and a half months in charge turn full circle tomorrow when he takes United to relegation rivals Southend, the team Leeds defeated at Elland Road in his first game in charge.
When Wise took over, after leaving Swindon, Leeds were fourth from bottom. Now they prop up the rest and his record shows 14 defeats, four draws and just seven wins.
Many believe defeat at Southend will mean almost certain relegation to Coca-Cola League One for a team that was competing in the Champions League six years ago.
Yet the former Chelsea and England pocket battleship intends to keep fighting. When asked whether the job was too big for him and his assistant Gus Poyet, Wise bristled: "That is not a very nice question to ask, is it? We enjoy this job. It has never been too big for us. It is a learning curve.
"I have never known the things that have gone on at this football club happen anywhere else where I have been.
"We knew what kind of job we were walking into and we are here to deal with it. We didn't come to do the job for a few months. We came with a long term target to try and get the club back into the Premiership.
"It is difficult to take over once the season is underway because a lot of the preparation has been done, but that is not an excuse.
"Whatever happens will be put down to me and Gus and we take that on board. There will be some disappointments along the way but we have to stay strong."
Wise added: "There are a lot of good managers I have worked under. I've had a chat with some of them and taken advice, but you have to live and die by your own decisions and I will do that.
"Of course, the game at Southend is important but afterwards there are 21 points to play for, so there will be a lot of ups and downs over the coming weeks."
Skipper Jonathan Douglas was in the side that defeated Southend at Elland Road in October and he believes United can land their first double of the season.
"We know we are capable of beating Southend and that is what we are going to do," he said confidently.
"I don't look at the table. If we can put a winning run together, which we haven't done all season, we will get out of trouble. This is a game we need to win and I'm sure we will."
Left-back Robbie Elliott may make his first start since January 20.

Southends manager berømmer gutta sine for å ha rodd i land 3 viktige poeng i "a match that had everything and could had gone either way."[xx(]

Shrimper Sodje happy feeling down
Efe Sodje says Southend need to imagine they are bottom of the Championship to maintain their push for survival.

United climbed out of the relegation zone for the first time since September with a midweek victory over Burnley.
Next up is a crucial clash against Leeds on Saturday and centre-back Sodje says nobody associated with Southend can afford to get carried away.
"We need to keep that mentality so we keep fighting for everything until the very last minute," he told BBC Sport.
"That spirit has to be there because we know as many as seven clubs are still in it, so we have to keep telling ourselves we are not safe yet.
"We're not looking at the league table, we're not looking at the other scores, the other fixtures or anything - we are just looking at ourselves and the fact we want to win every game."
The visit of Leeds to Essex is a match which could have major repercussions at the foot of the Championship.

-------------
THE VERDICT: SOUTHEND v LEEDS
It's going to be a massive game - they don't get any bigger, although every game from now until the end of the season will be like that
Steve Tilson

It is a massive game - but it won't be the end of it
Dennis Wise, Leeds
-----------------

Both managers have described it as a "massive game", with Southend supremo Steve Tilson adding that it is the first of eight cup finals for his club.
A home win would move the Shrimpers six points clear of bottom-placed Leeds and, despite the Sodje
crash course in reverse psychology, a third successive clean sheet and victory would have Roots Hall rocking.
It has, after all, been a tough return to the second tier of English football.
Following a bright start to the season Southend went on a 17-game run in the league without a win and slipped into the relegation zone on 30 September.
They hit the bottom rung of the Championship on 31 October, stayed there for more than 10 weeks and were in the dreaded 'drop zone' for 164 days.
"It was a long time," said Sodje, "but people do not appreciate how difficult it is the higher you go up the league.
"It's more technical and you have to play very sensible football. When the season started there was only me, Spencer Prior and Lee Bradbury who had played at this level before.
"You need experience, it took time for the team to get used to the Championship and things flew by us, but now everyone knows exactly what to do.

---------
We're still working hard but Steve Tilson's ensuring we get enough rest between games and the time to recover
Sodje on the run-in
-----------

"The only teams who have really dealt us are Cardiff and Sunderland, but nobody else has really opened us up and nobody could say we were the whipping boys of the league.
"And even though we were bottom for so long we never lost belief that we could get out of it."
Crowd favourite Sodje returns the compliment by acclaiming the contribution of the supporters as well as the character and the relaxed attitude of boss Tilson.
"He's always been smiling," the 34-year-old reveals of his manager. "He never felt any pressure and he and Brushy (assistant boss Paul Brush) are always taking the mick out of the players.
"In his team talk he always tells us there's no pressure and we just need to play. Sometimes the chairman comes into the changing room as well, but he doesn't give us any pressure either.
"And the fans have been wonderful throughout everything. At every home game, Saturday or Tuesday, we have had 8-9,000 screaming their heads off and the more they have kept going, the more we have kept going."
Those supporters started 2007 in good voice as United beat West Bromwich Albion at home, but Sodje identifies the away win at Cardiff almost a fortnight later as a key moment of the season.
It was their first victory on the road in the Championship and since then two more have followed at Birmingham and Ipswich to help them to a haul of 20 points from a possible 36 this year.
And to ensure the season ends on a high they will need in the region of a dozen more points from their eight "cup finals", starting with Leeds on Saturday.
