League One round-up
O's and Cumbrians lead the way

Leyton Orient were held by Northampton, Carlisle edged past Cheltenham while Leeds beat Luton.
The O's had a 100 per cent record prior to the weekend and had to fight back from two-down against Northampton.
Carlisle left it late before joining Leyton Orient at the top of the table with a 1-0 win.
Leeds maintained their perfect start to the season thanks to Tresor Kandol's strike just before half-time.

Bournemouth 0-1 Port Vale
Luke Rodgers' 82nd minute effort secured Port Vale's first win of the season at Bournemouth.

Brighton 3-2 Southend
Southend twice led at Brighton before slipping to an agonising last-gasp defeat.
Nicky Forster's first goal for The Seagulls cancelled out Alan McCormack's opener, although Nick Bailey restored Southend's lead.
Forster's second with five minutes remaining set up a frantic finale with Dean Hammond's last-gasp effort settling the thrilling contest.

Bristol Rovers 2-2 Nottingham Forest
Nottingham Forest remain without a win after being held to a 2-2 draw at Bristol Rovers.
Manager Colin Calderwood will be happy with the point after his side found themselves two-down inside 28 minutes.
A quick-fire double from Byron Anthony and Richard Walker's penalty had the visitors firmly on the back foot.
Anthony's own goal gave Forest hope with Grant Holt levelling matters on the stroke of half-time.
Holt went from hero to villain as Forest had to see out the closing stages a man light after he was dismissed.

Carlisle 1-0 Cheltenham
Carlisle have moved joint-top thanks to Danny Livesey's injury-time winner at home to Cheltenham.

Gillingham 2-1 Walsall
Gillingham's season is up and running following a 2-1 win over newly-promoted Walsall.
Two Gary Mulligan goals sandwiched a Daniel Fox strike as The Gills emerged with their first points of the campaign.

Hartlepool 4-1 Oldham
Hartlepool are up into third in the table after putting Oldham to the sword at Victoria Park.
The Latics opened the scoring on 14 minutes through Craig Davies, but that was as good as it got for the visitors.
Ian Moore swiftly levelled matters with James Brown giving Hartlepool the lead shortly after.
Richard Barker's penalty made it 3-1 at half-time with Joel Porter's late strike adding the icing on the cake.

Leeds 1-0 Luton
Dennis Wise's side are now just four points behind Walsall after Kandol's goal on the stroke of half-time maintained Leeds' 100 per cent start to the season.

Leyton Orient 2-2 Northampton
Leyton Orient's fine start to the campaign looked in tatters as they slipped to an early 2-0 deficit to Northampton.
Goals from Poul Hubertz and Chris Doig had The Cobblers in complete control at The Matchroom Stadium.
However, The O's were rejuvenated after the break with efforts from Adam Chambers and Tamika Mkandawire rescuing a point.

Millwall 1-2 Huddersfield
Huddersfield came from a goal down to claim all three points against Millwall at The Den.
Paul Robinson fired The Lions ahead on 41 minutes, but veteran hit-man Andy Booth levelled matters before half-time.
Malvin Kamara's goal shortly after the interval saw the West Yorkshire outfit claim the three-point haul.

Swansea 1-2 Doncaster
Swansea only have themselves to blame after slipping to a 2-1 defeat at home to Doncaster.
Things looked good when Jason Scotland gave them a half-time lead.
However, Ferrie Bodde's dismissal sparked a collapse as Richie Wellens netted twice against the ten men to give the visitors the win.

Swindon 1-1 Crewe
Crewe claimed a point at the County Ground after Steven Schumacher (42) cancelled out Michael Pool's opener (24).

Yeovil 1-1 Tranmere
Steve Davies' last-gasp strike secured a point for Tranmere at Yeovil.
Marcus Stewart's effort just before the hour mark looked like giving The Glovers the points prior to Davies' intervention.

Sunday Mail: League One round-up

LEYTON ORIENT 2 NORTHAMPTON 2
Leyton Orient lost their 100 per cent record but manager Martin Ling was not too concerned after their impressive second-half comeback earned an unlikely draw.
Northampton looked on course for a comfortable victory against the League One high-fliers after scoring twice in the opening half.
But Orient fought back after the break to gain a point thanks to efforts from Adam Chambers and Tamika Mkandawire, the latter scoring the club's 5,000th League goal.
Ling said: "I told the players at half-time, “this is the first question you've been asked this season, have you got an answer?” They came up with an affirmative answer."
It was all so different early on as Northampton took the lead when striker Poul Hubertz headed in a Daniel Jones corner. Stuart Gray's men doubled their advantage when the unmarked Chris Doig prodded home another Jones corner.
Chambers nearly pulled a goal back in first-half injury time but his long-range effort struck a post. Orient were a different side after the break and Chambers found the target when goalkeeper Mark Bunn parried a 25-yard strike from substitute Jason Demetriou. Centre-half Mkandawire equalised in the 57th minute with a deflected shot.
Northampton manager Gray said: "To go two goals up after 20 minutes was terrific but there were some tired minds and bodies out there."

BRISTOL ROV 2 NOTTM FOREST 2
Byron Anthony gave a bittersweet performance as Bristol maintained their unbeaten League record.
Anthony scored for both sides during a frantic first half which produced four goals in 20 minutes.
He opened the scoring in the 25th minute, but hit an own-goal just four minutes later after Bristol's Richard Walker had scored from the penalty-spot following Luke Chambers foul on Lewis Haldan.
Grant Holt equalised for Forest on half-time, but went on to see red five minutes from time for a second bookable offence.

GILLINGHAM 2 WALSALL 1
A first-half double by Gary Mulligan gave Gillingham their maiden win of the season against a spirited Walsall.
The forward struck after 15 minutes, lobbing Clayton Ince from inside the area. Walsall equalised after 20 minutes, with Martin Butler driving home from 15 yards. But Mulligan struck again on 34, lobbing Ince for a second time.

CARLISLE 1 CHELTENHAM 0
Defender Danny Livesey grabbed a 90th minute goal to propel Carlisle to joint top.
Livesey snapped up the rebound from 12 yards when Town defender Shane Duff blocked a fierce drive from the edge of the area by Marc Bridge-Wilkinson. Caretaker boss Greg Abbott, now unbeaten in three League outings, was especially pleased by a third clean sheet.
He said: "Cheltenham came here to frustrate us and maybe that's a sign we're doing well. But as long as we keep teams out at the other end I'll be happy."

BRIGHTON 3 SOUTHEND 2
Nicky Forster praised substitute Bas Savage for laying on both his goals after Brighton came from behind to clinch a dramatic victory.
He said: "Bas has shown great mental strength despite not being in the side and he was superb."
Alan McCormack and Nicky Bailey scored for Southend but Forster levelled both times. Dean Hammond headed the winner.Southend boss Steve Tilson said: "Give them credit, Brighton had a go."

LEEDS UNITED 1 LUTON 0
A post-match altercation between managers Dennis Wise and Kevin Blackwell cast a shadow over Leeds' fourth League win out of four.
Wise claimed former Elland Road boss Blackwell swore at him, and their heads touched. "He made contact with the top of my head. Sometimes people get a bit bitter and I don't think Kevin wanted to shake hands," said Wise.
Luton coach John Carver had to be restrained but Blackwell, whose team lost to a 44th-minute goal by Tresor Kandol, said: "If you don't have passion for the game you shouldn't be in it."

SWINDON 1 CREWE 1
Steven Schmacher produced a moment of real quality to fire his first goal for Crewe since his summer arrival from Bradford.
The former Everton trainee showed all his Premier League schooling to volley home Gary Roberts' cross-field pass for an equaliser shortly before half-time.
Michael Pook had put the home side ahead with his first goal for eight months when he finished sharply after Crewe failed to clear a Sofienne Zaaboub corner.
But Swindon were wasteful in the final third throughout and struggled to trouble Crewe keeper Ben Williams despite all their possession.

MILLWALL 1 HUDDERSFIELD 2
Malvin Kamara's super solo goal made it three wins from four starts for Andy Ritchie's Huddersfield.
On 52 minutes Kamara cut in from the right to burst past two Millwall defenders in the penalty area before guiding the ball into the far corner with the outside of his right foot from 15 yards out.
Millwall led four minutes before half-time when skipper Paul Robinson headed in at the far post after a neat cross from the right by Danny Senda.

YEOVIL 1 TRANMERE 1
Steve Davies fired home a free-kick in the fourth minute of stoppage time to earn Tranmere a point at Huish Park.
Yeovil lost key men Justin Cochrane and Lloyd Owusu to injury inside 30 minutes of this match between two early season pacesetters, but saw Paul Warne hammer a volley against the bar.
Davies saw a drive flicked on to the bar by Yeovil goalkeeper Steve Mildenhall before the deadlock was finally broken in the 57th minute.
Substitute Darryl Knights flicked the ball to Marcus Stewart and the veteran striker cut inside to score from 25 yards. It looked like being enough until Davies struck at the end.

BOURNEMOUTH 0 PORT VALE 1
Luke Rodgers got off the bench to score Port Vale's winner with eight minutes remaining. Rodgers ran on to a pass from Craig Rocastle to score from the edge of the area.
Port Vale, who had managed only a solitary goal before their trip to Dean Court, had only themselves to blame for not winning by a far bigger margin. Danny Whitaker was the worst culprit, missing five clear chances.
Bournemouth are still looking for their first home point and first home goal of the season and they did not often threaten.

SWANSEA 1 DONCASTER 2
Richard Wellens' second-half double eased the pressure on struggling Doncaster.
Jason Scotland gave the home side the lead in the 41st minute, but they had Ferrie Bodde sent off on the hour after an altercation with Brian Stock and immediately lost their way.
Wellens took advantage and stole the show for Doncaster with two excellently taken goals in the 68th and 84th minutes.

H'POOL 4 OLDHAM 1
Lee Hughes endured a miserable comeback to big-time football yesterday, less than a fortnight after being released from jail.
Handed his Oldham debut at Victoria Park, Hugheswas heckled by Hartlepool fans when he emerged from the tunnel, but played a full 90 minutes and looked fit enough, only to miss the one chance that came his way in subdued display.
Hughes, 31, was let out of Staffordshire's category C Featherstone Prison after serving half of a six-year sentence for killing a grandfather in a hit-and-run incident in November 2003. Oldham manager John Sheridan said: "The 90 minutes will have done Lee good. He did enough to show he can make a success of his comeback."
Craig Davies scored with a low finish after Godwin Antwi made a mess of a high, bouncing ball but the hosts were level within a minute through Ian Moore.
James Brown's low angled shot made it 2-1 on 26 minutes and Richard Barker netted from the spot before half-time, after he was fouled by Sean Gregan.
Sub Joel Porter added a late fourth and boss Danny Wilson said: "Their early goal shook us up, butwe responded well and quickly. Itwas a good performance."

League One round-up
Leeds maintain 100 per cent start

Leeds maintained their 100 per cent start to the season and have moved out of a negative points difference courtesy of a 2-0 win over Hartlepool.
Five successive victories has seen Dennis Wise's side erase the 15-point penalty they were handed by the Football League and they are now on zero.
Elsewhere, table-topping Leyton Orient maintained their unbeaten start to the season, but fellow high fliers Carlisle and Huddersfield slumped to defeats.
Walsall remain second bottom of the League One table after drawing 0-0 with Port Vale at the Bescot Stadium.

Carlisle 0-1 Tranmere
Carlisle sat in second place before kick-off but a Craig Curran strike three minutes before the break gave Tranmere the points and dealt Carlisle their first Brunton Park defeat of the season.

Crewe 2-0 Huddersfield
Crewe recorded an impressive victory over Huddersfield at Gresty Road. Dario Gradi's side stormed into a two-goal lead inside 40 minutes with Lee Barnard (16) and Eugen Bopp (39) both on target and the result never looked in doubt from then on.

Leeds 2-0 Hartlepool
Leeds continued their unbeaten start to the campaign after Tresor Kandol fired them in front on 20 minutes before Jermaine Beckford secured the points five minutes after half-time and sealed another eye-catching performance from Dennis Wise's side.

Leyton Orient 1-0 Bournemouth
Leyton Orient continued their unbeaten start to the season, but they were made to work hard against a determined Bournemouth side.
An Adam Boyd goal on 71 minutes secured the three points and ensured Orient maintain their spot at the top of the table.

Luton 1-2 Bristol Rovers
A Rickie Lambert brace allowed Bristol Rovers to leapfrog Luton at Kenilworth Road.
Rovers wasted little time in taking the lead when Lambert pounced to put his side ahead after just two minutes with his first goal of the season.
Matthew Spring then slotted home from the penalty spot on 19 minutes to restore parity, but Lambert netted his second with eight minutes of the match remaining to secure the win.

Southend 3-0 Gillingham
Southend cruised to their second league win of the season with a comfortable home victory over Gillingham.
Shrimpers manager Steve Tilson saw his side take an early lead when Nick Bailey opened the scoring on eight minutes before Alan McCormack (44) and Leon Clarke (59) added to Gillingham's woes.

Walsall 0-0 Port Vale
Walsall and Port Vale played out a hard-fought encounter at the Bescot, but neither side were able to break the deadlock.

Sky: League One round-up
Leeds United moved off the bottom of the table, while Tranmere Rovers assumed top spot in League One.
Dennis Wise's Leeds reached positive points for the season after maintaining their 100 per cent record with a 3-0 victory at Bristol Rovers.
Tranmere produced a dramatic late comeback to beat Luton Town at home, while Swansea did likewise to claim a first home win of the season against Carlisle United.

Bristol Rovers 0 Leeds United 3
Jermaine Beckford gave Leeds the perfect start at the Memorial Stadium when he thrust out a leg at the near post to divert a cross into the net after just nine minutes. Tresor Kandol then doubled the lead with his fifth goal of the season after 77 minutes before Beckford joined his strike partner on five goals by scoring a late third with a stunning overhead kick.

Swansea City 2 Carlisle 1
Swansea wanted an early penalty when Darryl Duffy went down in the box, but it was Carlisle who took the lead from the spot when Danny Graham converted three minutes into the second half. Duffy repaid the first instalment of his £200,000 transfer fee by equalising on 81 minutes with his first goal for Swansea. On-loan winger Paul Anderson, who was a 70th minute substitute, then scored the winner for the Swans on 83 minutes.

Tranmere 2 Luton Town 1
Veteran striker Paul Furlong provided Luton with an early platform at Prenton Park by scoring after just five minutes. But a brace of second-half substitutes turned the game in Tranmere's favour as Craig Curran, who scored the only goal against Carlisle a week ago, levelled on 83 minutes. Antony Kay, making his first League One start for the club following his summer move from Barnsley, then scored the winner on 86 minutes.

Sky: League One preview

Yeovil Town host top of the table Leyton Orient on Saturday and if Russell Slade's side can amass a two-goal advantage and results go their way, they could be League One leaders for the first time in their history.
In-form Orient will be a tough test for Yeovil, and Slade's men will have to be on the top of their game if they are to enter the history books.
Bournemouth v Northampton Town
(Home 5/4, Draw 9/4, Away, 7/4)
Bournemouth striker Sam Vokes will be added to an otherwise unchanged squad, after returning from international duty.

Brighton are without defender Joel Lynch (fibula), while it is too soon for Adam Hinshelwood to make a return.

Hartlepool v Swindon Town
(Home 8/11, Draw 9/4, Away, 10/3)
Hartlepool duo Anthony Sweeney and Willie Boland are out with hamstring injuries, but Matty Robson is available after returning from a groin problem.

Huddersfield's Michael Collins and Richard Keogh are expected to return to Andy Ritchie's starting line-up, after returning from international duty.
Nathan Clarke is still out, while Robbie Williams faces a further three weeks on the sidelines.
Robins midfielder Scott Brown remains sidelined, while Michael Townsend seems to have overcome an ankle injury.
On-loan forward Jennison Myri-Williams should be fit for the clash after receiving treatment.

Millwall hope to have veteran defender Richard Shaw (hamstring) available, while on-loan midfielder Jamie O'Hara returns from suspension.

Oldham v Southend
(Home 6/5, Draw 11/5, Away, 15/8)

Crossley has shaken off a thigh strain, Pogliacomi has recovered from a knee injury, while striker Michael Ricketts is available after a groin problem.
Southend's Steve Collis is expected to keep his place in goal with Darryl Flahavan out with a back injury, and striker Charlie MacDonald is available after recovering from a groin injury.

Port Vale v Nottm Forest
(Home 7/4, Draw 9/4, Away, 5/4)
Port Vale striker Luke Rodgers could be set for a place on the bench with Marc Richards and David McGoldrick preferred in attack.
Winger Paul Edwards should continue at left-back after performing well in Vale's last two games.
Forest duo Matt Lockwood and Lewis McGugan are unavailable, but Grant Holt is back in contention after serving his suspension.
Former Yeovil midfielder Chris Cohen could make his debut, following several impressive displays for the reserves.

Yeovil Town v Leyton Orient
(Home 11/10, Draw 9/4, Away, 2/1)
Yeovil welcome back captain Terry Skiverton, but Paul Warne is a doubt (ankle).
Marc Bircham, Gary Dempsey and Lee Morris are all sidelined, but Wilfried Domoraud could get a place on the bench.

SIX OUT OF SIX FOR LEEDS
Jermaine Beckford struck twice as rampant Leeds made it six League One wins on the trot with a 3-0 win at Bristol Rovers which took them out of the bottom four on Friday night.
The striker set his side on course with a flicked volley from Seb Carole's ninth minute cross and completed the scoring with an audacious overhead kick in injury time after strike partner Tresor Kandol hammered home the second goal on 77 minutes from a low right-wing cross by David Prutton.
Rovers battled hard, but were given a lesson in finishing by the visitors, who now have three points on the board in League One after starting the season with a 15-point penalty.
Late goals from substitutes Craig Curran and Antony Kay saw Tranmere move alongside Leyton Orient at the top with a 2-1 win over Luton.
Paul Furlong headed onto the bar in the fifth minute for Luton but scored from the subsequent corner with a far-post header from a cross by David Bell.
It seemed Tranmere would not find a way back as Ben Chorley and Gareth Taylor wasted big opportunities and Chris Greenacre fired inches wide, but in the 83rd minute Chorley pumped a long ball into the box and Curran sneaked in to beat Forde from close range.
Luton at the time had defender Richard Jackson off the field receiving attention to a head injury and the night got even worse for them three minutes later when Kay netted with a looping header from a free kick by Davies.
Meanwhile in Friday's other game Swansea left it late but eventually hit back to claim their first home league win of the season by beating Carlisle 2-1.
The visitors had led through Danny Graham's penalty early in the second half, but Darryl Duffy and Paul Anderson netted in the space of two minutes to seal the win.

League One round-up
Leyton Orient regained their place at the top of League One with a 1-0 victory against Yeovil Town.
Southend's 1-0 away day win against Oldham Athletic was enough to condemn John Sheridan's side to bottom spot, while Gillingham and Nottingham Forest picked up impressive wins.

Bournemouth 1 Northampton Town 1
The Cherries broke the deadlock on 34 minutes when Darren Anderton slotted home from a tight angle.
Referee Danny McDermid then waved away strong appeals for a penalty, when Jo Kuffour was upended by Mark Bunn.
Colin Larkin equalised for Northampton with 22 minutes remaining, when he smashed home Brad Johnson's deep cross.

Gillingham 1 Brighton 0
Gillingham earned the bragging rights with a 1-0 win over Brighton at Priestfield.
Delroy Facey was the hero in a game of few chances, when with eight minutes remaining, he got the better of his marker and finished well past Michel Kuipers.

Hartlepool 1 Swindon Town 1
Jon-Paul McGovern gave Swindon the lead when he beat Jan Budtz with an angled chip.
Second half substitute Joel Porter salvaged a point for Hartlepool on 68 minutes with a low shot from the edge of the area.

Huddersfield 2 Cheltenham 3
Malvin Kamara got his name on the scoresheet for Huddersfield three minutes into the second half after a good run and finish.
Damian Spencer then levelled for Cheltenham with towering header from a tight angle.
Spencer then made it two when he reacted quickest to a loose ball and fired a low left-footed shot into the corner.
John Finnigan pounced to notch his second of the season, before Huddersfield's Richard Keogh hammered in a long range strike to make for an anxious final few moments.

Millwall 1 Walsall 2
Daniel Fox fired the visitors ahead with an outrageous overhead kick just before half time.
Millwall's Andy Frampton equalised late on when he got on the end of a Danny Senda cross and smashed home from close range.

Oldham 0 Southend 1
Southend's Leon Clarke scored the only goal of the game on 28 minutes.
The Shrimpers had to hold on for 45 minutes when Garry Richards was shown a straight red.
Neal Eardley came closest for Oldham when his shot cannoned off the post.

Port Vale 0 Nottm Forest 2
Forest went ahead when Luke Chambers pressured Paul Edwards, who diverted the ball into his own net.
Chambers wrapped up the points late on when he headed home a Kris Commons cross.

Yeovil Town 0 Leyton Orient 1

Johnstone's Paint round-up: Northern
Leeds win again, Morecambe cause an upset, while Pools hit five
Dennis Wise's Leeds keep on winning as they progressed in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy, courtesy of a 1-0 victory at Darlington.
The League One promotion hopefuls used the opportunity to shuffle their pack and those brought in did enough to seal progression, with Paul Huntington's header early in the second half proving the difference between the two sides.
In the North West derby, it was Bury who stole bragging rights as Rochdale went down to a 3-1 defeat at Spotland.
Rory Prendergast gave Dale a 46th minute lead but Chris Casper's side fought back through a Glynn Hurst double and a late goal from Domaine Rouse.
Morecambe came back from being two down against League One side Port Vale to win 4-2 on penalties.
Managerless Vale were in cruise control thanks to Justin Miller and Luke Rodgers, but in the second period the home side responded magnificently to draw level as Gary Hunter and Jon Newby struck.
Paul Tierney's goal on the hour mark was enough to settle matters at Moss Rose, as Stockport beat Macclesfield on their travels.
Carlisle cannot stop scoring of late and so it proved against Chester as they claimed a 4-2 success.
A Kevin Gall double, when coupled with a goal apiece from Marc Bridge-Wilkinson and the in-form Danny Graham, rendered efforts from Ritchie Partridge and Chris Holroyd mere consolations.
Hartlepool are another League One side in a rich vein of form and so it continued at Lincoln, as Danny Wilson's side hit five.
Joel Porter made his point with a hat-trick, with Pools' other two goals coming from Michael Mackay and Ian Moore.
Lincoln's response came courtesy of Mark Stallard, who scored twice, including the game's opener from the penalty spot.
Grimsby booked their place in the next round on penalties, as they squeezed past Rotherham after a 1-1 draw in normal time.
Chris O'Grady opened the scoring in the 18th minute but after the break, Grimsby's Peter Till struck to take the game into extra-time.

LEEDS HELD AFTER KANDOL MISS
Second-placed Leyton Orient were relieved to leave Elland Road with a 1-1 draw after Tresor Kandol missed a late penalty for Leeds in their Coca-Cola League One clash.
Sean Thornton gave Orient the lead inside 10 minutes but was sent off for violent conduct in the 32nd minute.
Leeds drove forward in search of an equaliser and it was provided by Seb Carole 10 minutes into the second half.
Dennis Wise's side could have taken all three points when Paul Terry fouled Carole in the 81st minute but Kandol blasted over the bar.
Nottingham Forest briefly jumped to second in the table with a 3-0 win at struggling Cheltenham but finished the day third.
After leaders Tranmere could only draw with Walsall last night, Forest had Kris Commons to thank after a sublime hat-trick by the midfielder at Whaddon Road.
Commons scored in the first half to give Forest the lead at the break and added strikes in the 46th and 66th minute.
Third-placed Carlisle slipped to a 2-1 defeat at Yeovil
After a first-half stalemate Simon Hackney put the Cumbrians ahead less than five minutes after the break.

Nottingham Forest and Southend both kept up the pressure at the top with comfortable wins over Cheltenham and Crewe.
Leeds United's unbeaten start to the season continued as they narrowly escaped with a 1-1 draw against Leyton Orient.

Cheltenham 0-3 Nottm Forest
Kris Commons stole the show at Whaddon Road with a hat-trick for Nottingham Forest as they beat Cheltenham 3-0.
Commons's first came after 11 minutes, and he doubled that just before the interval.
His third came on 66 minutes and was the pick of the three as he fired home from 30-yards.

Gillingham 1-1 Millwall
The battle of the manager-less clubs at Priestfield ended all-square as Millwall came from behind to secure a draw against Gillingham.
On-loan striker Chris Dickson continued his good form with a goal after 16 minutes for The Gills, but visitors battled back and secured a point as Alan Dunne struck just after the hour.

Leeds 1-1 Leyton Orient
An action-packed game at Elland Road saw Leyton Orient claim a 1-1 draw against Leeds.
Orient went ahead after nine minutes when Sean Thornton's free-kick alluded everyone and went in.
That proved Thornton's only real contribution as he was sent off for an off-the-ball incident.
Leeds levelled just before the hour when Seb Carole fired home and they almost won it late on but Tresor Kandol fired a penalty over the bar.
Orient were also cursing their luck when Adam Boyd's shot slipped through the hands of Casper Ankergren and crossed the line, but the officials waved play on.

Beckford celebrates his goal for Leeds.

GARNER SENDS CUMBRIANS TO SUMMIT

John Ward's Carlisle moved to the top of Coca-Cola League One after an impressive away win against fellow promotion hopefuls Southend.
Ward, who joined the Cumbrians from Cheltenham to take the reins from caretaker boss Greg Abbott, is enjoying the ideal start to life at Brunton Park and had teenage striker Joe Garner to thank for the club's latest win.
A goalless first period saw both sides consolidating their position but Carlisle stole the points when Garner, played in by strike partner Danny Graham, drilled a left-footed effort past Steve Collis from the edge of the box.
Swansea are now second after Ferrie Bodde hit the winner against hosts Yeovil - the last side to beat Carlisle in the league.
Bodde struck on 79 minutes after Kevin Betsy cancelled out Jason Scotland's 40th-minute opener just after the restart.
Leeds, meanwhile, continue their ascent up the league table and ended the day in sixth after running out 4-2 winners over Millwall.
Jonathan Douglas scored a brace inside three second-half minutes, while Jermaine Beckford and David Prutton were also on target for Dennis Wise's side, who were not joined by assistant boss Gus Poyet, thought to be on his way to Tottenham.
Will Hoskins and Ahmet Brkovic responded for the Lions.
Nottingham Forest slipped out of the top six after a 2-1 defeat to Luton.
Chris Perry (52) looked to have sealed the points for Luton but there was some late drama with both sides scoring in the closing minutes - David Bell (88) and Julian Bennett on target.
Darren Wrack converted nine minutes from time to earn Walsall a 1-1 draw against home side Bournemouth, for whom Jo Kuffour opened the scoring, and Northampton substitute Alex Russell scored the only goal in his side's clash at Oldham.
Four goals in the last 15 minutes ensured plenty of excitement as Cheltenham and Crewe drew 2-2 at Whaddon Road.
Simon Church (75) and Ryan Lowe (78) thought they had won it for the visitors before Alan Wright (85) and David Bird (89) sealed a remarkable comeback.
Another late goal, this time from Chris Dickson, gave managerless Gillingham a morale-boosting 3-2 win over Bristol Rovers at Priestfield.
Rovers took the lead when Richard Lambert and David Pipe nullified Aaron Brown's effort but strikes from David Graham and Dickson brought the Gills a fourth home win of the campaign.
Bas Savage hit an injury-time penalty as Brighton turned over Hartlepool 2-1 at Victoria Park.
Richie Barker (86) had given Pools - who had Willie Bolland red-carded - hopes of a point after Michael Nelson's first-half own goal left them trailing.
Port Vale also won 2-1 against Swindon, with Danny Whitaker's 26th-minute winner coming eight minutes after Luke Rodgers and Lee Peacock had made it 1-1 with two strikes in 60 seconds.
